Governments collect royalties from natural resources that pay for social programs. Governments shouldn't be involved in mining, forestry and oil extraction. I read somewhere that 1/3 of the ENTIRE population of the country rely on the government for some form of money, most are eligible and perfectly fine to work on their own...

I would just kept the STEM classes, and cut everything else. Things like art or foreign languages can be taught easily outside of universities with internet classes or computer apps.

He has the weight of half the country against him, everyone believes in opportunities for everyone, however do most of these students deserve a free ride at the expense of their working class? yes and no, it is not a bad idea for the government to invest in its smartest students, a full free ride once the funds can be secured. Every economy has its "sacrificed" generation that must endure the changes of its economies that are undergoing transitions. Argentina has to wait a few years before the consumer purchasing power increases and with it comes the ability for middle class citizens that can afford things such as private higher education. Can Milei make a turn around before the end of his presidency and secure a second term that will allow a much clearer picture of his possible achievements that he promised his voters, we will wait and see.

There is an incentive to acquire an education. It allows you to have a more fulling and rewarding career and life. It generates greater opportunity. It provides a higher standard of living. Why should I buy that for you? If I start a business, a successful business will provide me the exact same things. Will you pay for my business please, or the country will become poor.
Thing is education was never in danger. Most of the people who went to those marches had a political agenda.

Argentina population was 50% black in 19th century, they mixed with the white population, one of the reason they look mixed. And many people from the middle east mostly (Arab Christians) from Lebanon and Syria immigrated to Argentina, they also mixed with white european immigrants.
