Sounded wonderful, and those sixths at the end, a nice little twist at the end there! Love a nice short, but packed Etude.

    Hi Cally
I was in band in school from 4th grade through senior year. I never learned the fingering for these notes above the F above High C. Do you have a video with finger placement in those higher notes?
I am 62 and just picked a clarinet up again after 40+ years. I can't believe I let that much time go by! UGH! I thought I was better than I am! LOL! I am enjoying practicing with you!
    Thank you for these videos,
    Tammi

Does this come from a larger collection of staccato studies by Wiedmann? I would really like to know, as I am always looking for good new books of studies. I really like your tone and it sounds lovely; I will be back for sure. Which kind of Selmer clarinet is that which you have ( I think it's a Selmer at least, if I recognize the logo on your upper joint ). I have a question about clarinet brands but I will save that for later. Thanks, from Richard.

I'm looking to get an A clarinet to complete in competitions, up to 1800€(euro). What would you recommend? My clarinet technician recommends Buffet E13, It costs the mentioned price. Another options? Already have a Festival Bb.

Either imslp or clarinet institute; can't remember where I found it. I also shared this on Patreon with patrons, so you can get it there directly from me if you decide to join.

I have a piece with staccato notes at the end of, and included in, a legato passage. I thought staccato and legato were polar opposites. I have been huffing those staccato/legato notes instead of tonguing them, but I feel I am being naughty doing it.

Lol! yes if you see staccato notes under a slur, it just means the composer wants them be part of the phrase, just tongued instead of slurred. There are many variations to how staccato should sound, and it depends on how the music should be interpreted: classical, romantic, 20th century, contemporary, speed of tempo, and even composers of the same era have different requirements for staccato. Etudes can help establish a base line, and then our teachers coach us on style when learning repertoire. Anyway, I hope you have fun practicing this etude! :-)
