The heartless men who were recorded saying they gave George a gliding lesson without the glider obviously threw him overboard while he was alive, presumably covering the robbery. How horrific.

Investigation was botched as soon as they conducted a 'group interview' with those young guys early on instead of interviewing each separately. Had they interviewed them separately, they could have put to use very effective interview tactics that are designed to play them against each other until someone confesses either out of fear of being blamed or the fear of taking the fall for everyone else involved. This case is an eye opener for people who board cruise ships.

Few people realize how dangerous cruise ships are. MANY people go "missing" on cruises with no seeming explanation. A couple of years ago, 60 Minutes Australia did an expose of the Cruise Line Business. They discovered that on average one passenger per month "disappears" from a cruise ship somewhere in the World. They interviewed the former Chief Security Officer of a Cruise Line incognito who said that when you put a 1000 people on a boat in the middle of the ocean with an unlimited supply of alcohol, lots of Bad Things will inevitably happen. Many tourists fall overboard while drunk simply because walkways are narrow and they have no "sea legs". He said that assaults and rapes are common, and that some ship personnel even rape women passengers in their rooms. He said that much of this is hushed up with Pay Off money by the Cruise Line itself.
The TRUTH about Smith's "disappearance" will never be known simply because it appears that Everyone involved was TOO Drunk to even remember The TRUTH. In other words, they were typical Cruise Line passengers.
I've always thought of Cruise Ship vacations as being Absurd myself. I call them "Boat Rides to Nowhere" because most cruises end at the port where they begin. Somehow, being drunk 24/7 while stuck on a ship full of strangers never sounded like fun to me.

I have no idea what happened to George but I must say that the thought of having a honeymoon where the husband and wife pretty much go their separate ways is not my idea of a honeymoon. If they preferred the company of other people, why on earth did they get married? When I got married, 976 years ago, I really wanted to spend my honeymoon with my husband. But maybe that's just me.

I have only one regret about my marriage and that is that we did not meet and get married about a decade earlier so we would have had more time together. My husband died almost 15 years ago and I guess the time since he died seems like a LONG time. We were married for a little over 30 years and right up to the day he died I would rather spend my time with him than with anyone else so it just is strange to me to think that a young couple who are literally on their honeymoon chose to spend time with others. I’m lucky enough to still have my husband and we have been together for 48 years all told, 45 of them married. I agree, it would have been strange not to have spent our honeymoon enjoying ourselves together, and the fact that the couple in this story were getting up to all sorts of drunken shenanigans separately wasn’t a good indication of a partnership that would have survived even if tragedy hadn’t separated them.

We didn't wear fancy clothes and didn't drive flashy cars. We were out one night, came home and discovered our house had been broken into. Long story short, they caught the guys who did it, and one of them sung like a canary. He said they heard we had a safe stuffed full of cash, so the plan was to tie us up and scare us into open it. I agree, and am shocked that federal officials did not see that the compendium of evidence points to their guilt, at least enough to be adjudicated in court. Bringing charges on all of them, would pressure each to provide more testimony. The FBI and Justice Dept. have the authority to act on matters at sea, or even in foreign territorial waters, if the victim and/or suspected perpetrator(s) are U.S. citizens, particularly in the absence of actions by other authorities.
The 'execution' of Greg Rosenberg is quite possibly an indication of Smith being murdered, and shows that the FBI/Justice Dept. have failed in this case.

That is IF she'd left the room tidy, which she may not have. Those cabins are tiny and start to look messy really quick. She also may have noticed a bit more mess but thought her husband had been digging around, getting dressed and looking for things before he left that morning, which was what she assumed. Also, you need to factor in seeing this through a huge hangover, if not still somewhat intoxicated. Remember that she was loaded enough to pass out in the hallway in the early morning hours, enough that she had to be carried back to her room. She then got up and left less than 4 hours later. I'm not sure how much you've drank before but when you get up and have to be somewhere pretty quick in that state, you're more focused on not puking on your feet or figuring out how to make your head stop pounding than anything like some added mess to your room.

@AVSgirl1985: The parents and the sister here are sad because they choose to be sad. People who go on grieving for a "loved one" for more than 2 years are mentally ill and should be referred to professional psychiatric services to help them stop living in the past and to start looking to the future. The wife here quickly moved on because she is NOT Mentally Ill with grief as were her in-laws. The wife is the most mentally healthy person in this story because she just accepted a settlement and moved on with her life. The parents and the sister here are sad because they choose to be sad. "Closure" is an "inside job". It happens when you come to a resolution inside of you, regardless of what's happening in the outside World. If True Crime producers REALLY Cared about the grieving families, they would compassionately guide them to professional help, rather than exploiting their grief in front of a TV Camera for a Lousy Dollar !!!

The question in murder is who benefits the most. The motives for murder break down to sex, money/greed, and the need to escape/not get caught. With this in mind, and that Jennifer's keycard wasn't used to enter the suite, the most likely suspects are the three guys. Firstly, they weren't averse to doing illegal activities - the first indicator in this story being sneaking liquor onto the ship. Yes, a small thing, but an indicator of character. Their taking the fifth doesn't advance their case for innocence. The one guy serving time for drugs in a further indication of his willingness to be involved with drugs. His throwing shade on Jennifer is a classic misdirection, contraindicated by Jennifer's drugged state and lack of entry into the room in the time frame.
I think the most likely scenario is that Jennifer and George were targeted. (It is somewhat strange that 3 young guys would be on this sort of cruise, as these long and expensive cruises are usually for the newly wed and the nearly dead. Young men on vacation are usually looking to get laid, a cheap and short party cruise being a more likely venue). The couple was drugged, one way or another by these three. Jennifer wasn't around and George was passed out. George roused to find these three going through the room and stealing his expensive watch off his wrist. A fight broke out and George was purposefully thrown overboard. Cruise ships are notorious for covering up assaults and murders, which are more common than many people think. The three got lucky, and as long as they hang together, there is little that can be done. Suspicion does not make a conviction.
As for Jennifer? Maybe she's superficial. She's a beautiful woman. She probably met, (or already knew) a wealthy/suitable man quite quickly after George's death and has gone on to spend her time raising her family and doing charity work. Even George's family doesn't think she had anything to do with it, and are just hurt she moved on so quickly.

The only thing that I noticed was the issue about the men ordering room service. It was proven that they never actually ordered anything from room service, nor was anything delivered. They claimed they did, but there was never actually any record of it on the ship. Which would leave them without an alibi whatsoever. At least from everything I’ve been able to dig up on this case. But anyway, great job, as usual! Such a tragic story. These men were clearly involved.

It’s fairly obvious that if the Turkish authorities and the Royal Caribbean cruise lines really wanted to solve this case it would’ve been solved. Royal Caribbean was obviously only concerned about how the publicity affected their business and the Turkish authorities probably could give a rip about the death of a foreigner. Heck, even I know you don’t interrogate all four of those guys together if your serious about the investigation.

It sounds like they were drugged to make robbing them possible, George was undressed because "he'd been put to bed drunk" propped up on the railing then they'd let him fall after stealing his watch. It'd be interesting to see if that watch ever turned up once the guys got home; but if they knew they were suspected on the ship, it could have been thrown overboard too. Then Gregory, he had a big mouth and enjoyed the spotlight of being questioned, so he could have been killed to prevent him putting the others in prison at some stage. If,if, if....... it's tragic that it will probably remain unsolved.

    • @j3611
      @j3611 2 года назад +4

@@braziliangator I got the impression that the guys who were with George enjoyed messing with people, George was obviously wealthy, on his honeymoon with a beautiful wife & was vulnerable. With no friends of his own to support him, I think he was like a wounded gazelle amongst jackals. Maybe that's what it comes down to?. The watch may have been a trophy the leader of the group took as a keepsake or to sell since it was expensive. George didn't have a chance with people like this around him. His wife is lucky she made it off the ship safely, since on the night George disappeared she was behaving as if she'd been drugged.

Who says it isn't? Do you honestly think they didn't interview the spa workers to make sure she was there? They obviously did or it wouldn't have been confirmed as her being there. And maybe you can't get up a few hours after being stupid drunk but plenty of people do it and do whatever they have to do, either wildly hungover or ma6be still somewhat intoxicated. That's basically how I spent my 20s. Just because every tiny detail isn't mentioned here doesn't mean it wasn't part of the investigation. And the police aren't taking her word for it that she was so drunk she had to be carried back to her room, that came from the employees. So your theory is that absolutely everybody is lying to cover for her, even random cruise ship employees who don't know her at all and don't care what happens to her?

I've always been a fan of crime shows, channels, podcasts, and documentaries but the majority of them are poor narrators, who interject with a lot of their own opinions, and who do not make good use of time in presenting the story. I love the way you narrate these cases in such an organized, non repetitive way, unbiased, just stating the facts without leaving anything important out, and all in just 30 mins. 2005- Mickenos Greece - 26 year old George was missing on a cruise. Did he fall overboard? George was married to 25 year old Jennifer and joined on this fun cruise a few days after the wedding. There were blood droplets and blood stains in the balcony and in the living areas and foul play was suspected. Jennifer was drunk that night. Two months later Jennifer was not interested in finding out what happened to George.

This case reminds me so much of another similar case, the disappearance of Amy Lynn Bradley on a Royal Caribbean cruise liner, same scenario regarding the lack of help and support into the case, and as of today it's never been solved.
I personally hate those kind a huge cruise liner, in case of problems it's always a huge issue between the Company owning the ship, the country where the incidents happen, everyone trying to push the problem to the others and nobody ready to take any kind of responsibility. That's a very tragic story where a family has been destroyed 🙏🙏🙏 Thanks a lot Kevin for this excellent video

As a lifelong cruiser the deck of every cruiseline is often filled with drunk passengers stumbling about in various states of disorientation . There is a reason las vegas casinoes doesnt have balcony. A disoriented and drunk person stumbles, climbs, and fall over a balcony into water and everyone is trying to invent a conspiracy. Drunks have been falling over balconys on dry land forever, the only thing diff here is that it happened at sea. A drunk wife, girlfriend flirting or hooking up with crew has been known to happen. Not a big deal. Not sure how that leads to murder since such hook ups usually happen in crew quarters and not guest quarters where the husband will be. If a crew member already slept with his wife, why would he harm d passengers husband? The other 4 russian dudes were just immature dudes happy to hang out with an older man for a night of parting and drinking. The smiths family inability to accept thier sons death is normal. Denial and looking for someone to blame for freakish random misfortune is part of the grieving process.

I still can’t wrap my head around the young lady who simply vanished while on a cruise with her parents and brother. Just disappeared from right under their noses. And there is very strong evidence due to reputable witnesses having seen her that she had been trafficked, but to this day hasn’t been found.
