Serbia should be the winner 🏆! Art again! Serbia is simply the powerhouse! No triviality! Full of symbols! For close reading! Luke is a professor of English language and literature. In addition, he has a master's degree in music production and pop music. Simply, Serbia will save the world!
Excellent lyrics, good message, interesting voice, perfect staging, superb beat, eye-candy singer, amazing dancers, innovative, creative and relevant. I don't know what more you would want from a song. This is by far the best and most complete song in Eurovision this year and, as such, it should win. Sorry to say, but for a "teacher", you sure miss the message.
Such a deep message. This song is a critique of the modern society and contemporary world. He makes connection with a video games where young people (and everyone else) are, artistically speaking, controlled by someone else and are just observers of all the horror happening around the Globe. He uses himself as a metaphor - (he only wants to sleep), as it is the easiest thing to do - to oversleep all the tragedies and to wake up in a better world. If you carefully look the performance - you will see that they are dancing as zombies as they are under anesthesia not reacting on this "world on fire" as he notices. However, the message of the song is quite opposite - we should all wake up, we should react, we should have more conscience and sapience that he calls on, especially to decision makers. At the end of the song he "releases" those "controlled" masses in order to become more active, more energetic and they together react - walk, make changes together. The "hello" part was written inspired by the Sims game, where the characters wave the player when they want something, instead of taking action, so he uses a parallel with people today.
konstrakta ended the song with ... and what are we going to do now? ... I experience this as a continuation, that is, a solution. the message goes through a paradox...he says that he is just wont to sleep, while the world is burning...but the rhythm is calling us to wake up!!! ❤
I Just wanna sleep Baby watch the world on fire It is all a game to me I don't wanna choose my fighter Who's taking control of me?
Hello? I just wanna sleep (sleep!)
I just wanna sleep forever Like it better when I dream I want to sleep forever while the world burns I just wanna close my eyes And just get it over with I want to sleep forever while the world burns
It's night, the hours are endless The Devil is on my shoulder I just want to sleep forever after So that I can defeat him
Hello? Game over (sleep) (I just wanna sleep)
I just wanna sleep forever Like it better when I dream I want to sleep forever while the world burns I just wanna sleep forever Like it better when I dream I want to sleep forever while the world burns
War (war) There's a famine It's hopeless All conscience is sleeping while the world burns
(It burns) It is the end Dark continues Reason is sleeping while the world burns
single clap and other people clapping is because there were no audience, just presenters, camera etc... :) your reaction reminds me how i feel about Switzerland 2023. that is good song but not my type of music
Interesting and innovative but that's pretty much it? Well, it's because this song, as opposed to the winner last year or any other song including 'Mama ŠČ' by Let 3 (Croatia) hasn't got a clear melodic line or even a chorus, which was very powerful and catchy in Konstrakta's hit. People just like singing along, which is made quite impossible here. I'm afraid it won't be in the top 10 or even 15. Please also bear in mind that people from Serbia living abroad are not very likely to vote for artists they have never seen/heard (of) before.
It has a very clear and catchy chorus, what are you talking about? I'm singing it all the time! Konstrakta was also a new face last year to Serbian people living abroad (to most of them), even to people in Serbia, so what? That shouldn't matter. It should be about the song, first of all. But I guess (unfortunately) Serbs abroad mostly like cringy turbo-folk music or Eastern sounds... 🙄 For example, I think that Princ od Vranje has a nice voice and a great Eurovision potential, but his song was too oriental for my taste, it felt like he represented Turkey or something. I hope he'll pick a better song next time + work on his singing some more...
@@tamara.d.d On the contrary: a lot of people (even abroad) knew who Konstrakta was but she also had a great hit. Plus: that's not '(neo)folk)'. As for this singing along: I could enjoy and sing to e.g. traditional Japanese music. But hey! That's just me, not the voting majority. Luke's song is easily forgettable. Serbian voters abroad ignored Sanja Vučić at first, Tijana Bogićević etc. In addition, they (as well as voters from other countries) usually like 'strong rhythms', catchy tunes, strong messages, and everything has to be original, 'honest', not artificial or written 'on demand' without any feelings... The ESC winner song has to have at least two of these. For the sake of my country, I hope I'm wrong here but my loooong experience with the ESC has taught me something. PS. We all know that Luke will be ignored here for something that will be highly appreciated in Liverpool but I'm disgusted to realise that and I'm just discussing music.
@@frdz4188 Literally everything you wrote is wrong. First, wtf are you talking about, Konstrakta was a pretty underground act until Eurovision, maybe the mainstream knew something about Zemlja Gruva and that's it. Second, it's definitely not easily forgettable, have you seen hordes of reactors and people raving that they're obsessed with the song? The chorus is the exact thing that makes it so memorable. Third, it wasn't artificial or ''on demand'', you're projecting there. He clearly has a distinct artistic style for years if you actually knew something about him before talking. See his other videos. We all know the taste of Serbian diaspora for cringy turbo folk music, so that and your ''looong experience with the ESC" (what does that even mean? Have you worked as ESC staff?) is really not as relevant as you think it is. Thankfully, you're not the voting majority so you can dance and sing to traditional Japanese music 🤣
@@Asdsfdsf Zemlja gruva and their singers were known to general public; they even took part at out contest in 2009. You are reading too much into my remarks: 'on demand' refers to (Serbian) authors in general. If it makes you happy, I liked the song... Although it is very strange regarding its structure. I was simply trying to explain why we should not expect too much and I sincerely hope I am mistaken. As for the 'experience', let us just mention one of the actual meanings: I have been watching the ESC for nearly twice as many years as most of you are probably old so nothing could surprise me. (Btw, what does being ordinary ESC staff have to do with music, songs, composing etc.?) Yeah, you make listening to non-mainstream music sound silly. (But Luke is not mainstream, mind you.) What is wrong with being open to all kinds of good music that make you more than happy? (Serbian 'neofolk' excluded in its own right.) Živi bili pa videli. Except for this: he could always use the same card up his sleeve as M. Šerifović did but that is beyond music. Dixi. PS. 'In corpore sano' was played last year in every media, as often as possible, whereas this year... You know...
Serbia rules this year! I love it ❤️
I wish it wins the whole show. It's my first place this year easily. Can't stop listening to it.
I hope he or Käärijä(Finland) wins ESC
@@Scheherasad Yep, Finland and Serbia are my win picks too.
It means that he only wants to sleep and forget about the world that is on fire right now. But in the end he woke up and started to fight.

It’s flying to the finals. It’s a divisive entry but those who like it will vote for it because there’s nothing like it in the competition.

Read the lyrics... it's very deep. Not just a fashion show material. Far from it.
