  • Today we're looking at bass technique with a look at a set of etudes designed to work on specific areas of technique.
The lines shown in this lesson make use of wide interval leaps. So you'll be working on your string crossing and string skipping, aspects of playing that require a command of fingerpicking, fretting and muting techniques, especially at high speed.

Amazing, as usual. One request: since this is about technique, can you give us a close-up view of your fretting hand? Thank you for all of your great work!

Been trying to break out of box patterns lately and making up my own little etudes to do that, this takes it to the next level. Great timing of this video coming out with my practice journey!

Everyone one that does the videos move to fast it's hard to see where your fingers are. I'm trying to learn from the beginning and I can't find anyone that doesn't move so fast and talk so fast.

Hi, Kim! I don't know if this will help you but -- in case you don't already know -- you can choose the gear icon at the top right corner of the video and choose speed and then slow it down to 0.75 or even 0.50. Even at the 0.50 you can still understand what the speaker is saying and you really can see what the fingers are doing.
      Hope this helps.
