The prices on these things are always nothing shy of insane. Who the hell would pay what a full size car costs for something like this? Nobody, which is why barely any of them actually go into production. The greed of people trying to save the world is palpable.
The first enclosed three wheel electric / pedal hybrid "Bike" appears to be one of the more attractive enclosed lightweights. I'd like to have the opportunity to try one for about two weeks to see how successful I'd be on making myself use it instead of my Full-size, 300 HP automobile or my Mid-sized, 50 HP, Cruiser MC. I'm tired of burnin' gas to go a few blocks to pick up 25 bucks in groceries and that is most of my driving style lately since I'm retired. Not to mention...the GREEDY, THIEVING Fed and States are poised to raise gas taxes since oil prices are low. From the "Freakonomics" end of it, the Government money whores are deeply worried about ordinary folks adopting hybrid electric and full electric vehicles along with sustainable forms of energy to charge the batteries in big numbers. If we do...look for property taxes to go up drastically. They ARE gonna' get their offset right out of our hides.
It actually isn't the first, it just the first higher up off the ground and not completely aerodynamically enclosed! They have the two wheel and then the three wheeled recumbent velomobiles! They have been making them since at leats the 70s if not the 60s there is one group that works on updating and or recreating a style they used the previous year with the goal of breaking the speed record they set the year before! More often than not they are very close to the ground which I would not want for regular use and they have set and held and increased the record every year for the last several years! With the electric assist it allows one to hit those speeds and maintain them for a much greater distance as it doesn't require all of your energy and stamina!!!! But it definitely is awesome, but they do want way way too much for it!!! There is one called an ELF, and one a PEEL I believe in the US already selling but they're having to build them to only go electrically 20 mph because of some bike laws! If they go over then they fall under motor cycle laws and require more lighting, licensing, tags titles etc. One could likely easily modify them to go faster on one's own maybe simply change out the pedal gear ration and gears sprocket and likely do better! Because there are plenty of non enclosed trikes that go much faster with or without electric assist!!! One could purchase one of those and build their own body!!!
Это гениально сделанная веломашинат первый вариант лучше, сколько же вложено сил и средств в постройку такого концепта?респект и уважение!!! 😉😀💪👌🖒👍👏🏅🇷🇺🇷🇺
I really like the arcimoto, it makes sense and looks good. I’d love to make something that would be similar but fully enclosed with doors or a lift up hatch like the early Messerschmitt three wheels. I believe that someone has already built a modern version, but I would like it to be available as a kit vehicle, where you can buy the plans, or the bodywork and make the frame. That would be my dream vehicle in a future of low emission vehicles for a more sustainable future. Hope everyone is safe in these troubling times. Ph
The Raht seems to be a dead end webby, so my guess is no. The Cabrio Velo is made for Who? So I didn't even follow the link. The Arcimoto is $20,000, I just bought a 2016 Tacoma for $21,000 used with very low miles, so, good luck with that. The Pod Ride just got backing from an Audi Incubator program and a few new staff and are almost ready for production, and is my personal favorite, but they flat out told me they will not sell one to me, as I live in the US. So I might just fly to Sweden or Norway or where ever they are and pretend to be Dutch and but one. My Guess is $5-6K. The PEBL are already producing and selling. They are on the Second iteration of the vehicle, and it looks pretty awesome, but is about $8,000 so That is a problem. A brand new Chevy spark is $13,000 so...
#1 Raht Racer goes 60MPH? Then it cannot be considered a bicycle in most states. You will need full driver's license, registration plates, and insurance.
Lance don't try to explain logical things to these retards. Look at the dumb vehicles their spending their money on. Then when they run out of money making this trash, they start begging for financing from the public.
At 09:09, 750 watt motor exceeds the 400 or 500 watts that several states use a a limit for electric bicycle, so may not be able to avoid full automobile registration, license, and insurance. It is not yet in production, still begging on kickstarter for $250,000, got $26,000 so far. It's about the same as the Elf from Organic Transit that has been in production for years.
Simplemente, magnificos! Felicitaciones a sus creadores! Estos vehículos son la solución al transporte urbano: económicos, no contaminan, aporte a la actividad física, disminuyen la congestión. Pero aquí en Chile estamos muy atrazados como para implementar este sistema de transporte. And to think that many, many people laughed at Sir Clive Sinclair when he invented the Sinclair C5, and now someone has stolen his model base and reproduced it in different forms. The second e-bike shown in this video is identical to the Sinclair C5. In essence, this video proves the genius of Sir Clive Sinclair, a great man way ahead of his time.
Abso freaking lutely! While watching all these great inventions, I keep wondering what it would feel like riding them in snow. Or rain, for that matter. #3 Arcimoto FUV has top speed of 80mph, so it could be classified as a motorcycle in some states (helmet, motorcycle license, registration, and insurance required) or as a car.
Licenced and registered as either a motorcycle or autocycle in all states. Most states with an autocycle vehicle classification specify it must be fitted with a steering wheel.. Arcimoto, along with local activists, has helped get a few states to change the definition of autocycle to include "or handlebars" in the definition to include the FUV. If a state defines the FUV as an autocycle, then no helmets or MC operators requirement.
The first one would be more efficient if they used the pedals to help propel it, rather than wasting energy to recharge the battery. The second vehicle is just an updated copy of the Sinclair C5. As for the rest of them, I didn't need to see them to know that they're massive gimmicks. These will never replace the common car or bicycle. Good luck registering these in some countries. I know for a fact that Australia and New Zealand won't have a bean of it!
In regards to registration, with the exception of #3 these are all E-bikes and as such follow all laws that are applicable to bicycles, not cars or motorcycles. So unless you have to register a bicycle in Australia or New Zealand (and honestly, if you do I'm really glad I don't live there because that's absolutely ridiculous), these shouldn't even require any registration. #3 most likely counts as a motorcycle. Either way, none of these are intended to replace a proper car. They're short ranged alternatives, best used to get around a city, town or combination-zoned development.
I would be more mitigated. The swedish one the Podrider is practical, narrow, stable, same height as a car so visible by the other users, and works in any weather. Remark the ad is very Swedish, no hype and no impossible claims. That can work in European and Asian countries, where the usefulness of a vehicle is more important than the hype and sporty llooks. Remains the price problem but it can be solved. Here in Mexico we have an full sized electric scooter, the Italika Voltium City sold for about 20000 pesos MX, about 1.200 USD. An electric similar Podrider could be made and sold surely for less than 2500 USD.
Duncan Bananatyne that’s going to change in time.. the EU was considering at one time increasing the maximum speed of unaided LEV’s to 30mph. I believe they were talking about creating a new vehicle category which means these would require registration and insurance. Although if or when that happens this will open a flood gate to vehicles of this type that they won’t be able to close again.. our cities are going to be a lot cleaner, quieter and more pleasant places in the future.

Is the RAHT a considered a car or bicycle when you talk to DOT..? Does this need to be licensed and insured just like a car and is that comparable to the cost of license/registration/insurance of a car..?

Last, the Pebl, is 750 watts, so it would be classified as a motorcycle in most states, helmet, driver's license, registration plates, and insurance required.

Yes, the first one ! ! ! Yes, what was it? The Rat Racer? Yes, I want to see that bad boy in production. I'm sure it'll cost a bundle just like any other bike that do highway speeds. No, I wouldn't be able to afford one now, or even invest in the company, but you must put that baaad bike into production. Yeah, man, das da' show' . Know what ahm sayin' ? (and I'm a white man, speaking that jive)
Glad you can afford the $35000 for the Raht Racer. Priced like a Rolls Royce for what it is. Would instantly sell massively more if priced at under 6k.
Needs a light on top so people can see it first. The lights go both ways at the high top of the roof. The other drives got to see you AHEAD of time seconds matter. EVER the turn signals.

# 1 : "RatRacer" at 60 mph exceeds what any state allows for bicycle qualification, so you need full automobile registration, license, and insurance.
the raht is so amazing that when you crash head on into something you lose both legs! what a design for a highway speed vehicle. miraculous.

Why do all these claimed "all weather protection" vehicles, not have a sealed floor?
when pedaling you would cook without fresh air and the screen fog up
Its quite simple acually. They don't have reverse. you do it Fred Flintstone style by putting your feet through the floor.
The PEBL has an enclosed floor except for the footwell for the pedals. They make an insert to make it fully enclosed. The PEBL has a reverse switch so there is no need for manual pushing backwards. It is made in New England to tolerate the cold.

(and I'm a white man, speaking that jive)
sir, you disgust me.
@@wev7196 I'm sorry to hear that.
In real life, Not "Online life", I think you'd appreciate me more.
@@InsanityHere lol
Projected price $35k! I did notice that you have to duct tape your feet to the pedals....
Were do i sighn up i must have one
that Rat Racer..... reminds me of a lighter version of the TWIKE from Germany... similar operation....
Glad you can afford the $35000 for the Raht Racer. Priced like a Rolls Royce for what it is. Would instantly sell massively more if priced at under 6k.
I would like to know more about the soy and hemp composite material with the non toxic binder.
What's stopping people from just taking the bikes when you're in the shops? no description about security? locks etc....
Looks like the rat racer was first announced around Feb. of 2015. So where is it?
Four electric-assisted velomobiles and one electric motorcycle (the Arcimoto FUV), which is a completely different class of vehicle from the others.
Your " Trunk " on the Red one 2ND , has a lock right ? A really good lock ? Cause putting a purse or bag in it behind you looks risky .
Needs a light on top so people can see it first. The lights go both ways at the high top of the roof. The other drives got to see you AHEAD of time seconds matter. EVER the turn signals.
IMAGINE being in an accident in the middle of 2 cars. You are dead
This things are really great though
Add eject button
Not if everyone ride these vehicles INSTEAD of cars.
The First One....👍👍👍
the first one, the maker needs to do some camber on the steered wheels
