Wonderful performance. My mother was a member of the chorus one summer at Tanglewood under the baton of "Lenny" as the orchestra called out when he stepped on stage for a rehearsal. Years ago the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra had programmed a Bernstein Festival with Mr. Bernstein in attendance. I was a member of the symphony Chorus at the time so I was able to see him in the box seats (a very short man).
I loved this so much! It was really fun and creative. I watched it a few times and was trying to figure out what clarinets everyone was playing on! That was a whole lot of incredible talent on one screen. I am going to go and cry in the corner of my closet now. Even with an old bachelors of music degree I am not nearly up to the level of these amazing players!
The “Why a flute” was so perfect because i wasn’t looking at the video, and when i heard the flute, i asked to my self “why a flute?”, and the screen said the same. You are a music magician! -bravo from TX
@@nicolasbaldeyrou1 Hello from Vilnius. I am curious about your classes.... how to possibly arrange. I noticed Stasys Makstutis is a student. My son, Mykolas Kuan Keys, age 14, is doing VERY well at Ciurlionis Music School in Vilnius, and just placed 2nd place in the Latvian Riga MednisCompetition. We, his parents, are poets with little talent in music, and so he has come a long way... could you send me the particulars on how "Myki" might take lessons from You. Best regards, Kerry Kerry Shawn Keys
Nicolas Baldeyrou My concert band was learning this before everything was shut down and the rest of the year got cancelled. I’ve mostly been playing the lyrical or pop pieces we were learning and pushing this aside. With this video popping up, I could hide from it no more! Hearing how good this sounds, and having the means to achieve that, but choosing not to would just be foolish. Playing clarinet might make me a fool, but that doesn’t mean I play it foolishly! So once again, thank you for the awesome motivation!
Violinist here and I can’t say enough as to how much I loved this!!! I have the mental image of Bernstein iconically directing the NY Phil to this overture as the video played. That e flat clarinetist going into piccolo register..what?? 😱 And thank you for the laughs too: bass clarinet just chilling in bed, random guy with cat and mask.. lol. Great production!
@@nicolasbaldeyrou1 Oh yeah! :D I love his style. I also admire Yuri Simonov and, of course, my countryman, who loved France and even died there, Sergiu Celibidache.
GLORIOUS performance!!! Coached several civic youth high-school honors ww sections on this work back in the day, BUT not at these tempos! Wow! If you've never heard the opera, see if you can find the Bernstein's New York Philharmonic performance on-line. AMAZING..........
I watched you play Carmen Fantaisie on Vandoren's channel, and ever since then, I've been in awe of your clarinet ability. I also love how you are so engaged with the community, something that not a lot of people do. Thanks for all you do. ~a fellow high school clarinetist
Delightful. Beautiful playing. Special praise goes to the e-flat clarinet player👏👏. As a former orchestral clarinetist, I praise you very talented players (and especially your teacher). You bring me great joy and fill my heart with happiness. Bless you all for making an old man very happy.
Yayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy! You are happiness makers!! Just wonderful. Keep bringing the world together and keep 'em coming. With great big hugs, from a fan in Virginia, U.S.
What a great video! I love how it started with the conductor and the clarinets, but then a few other instruments trickled in. Great effects are always key. You're all very talented, and I was impressed! I started conducting along with the melody, because I just love this piece so much. Great job, and well wishes!
I love this so much! I have mentioned before that I was part of a Double Reed class when I played Oboe at the University of Oregon. This Clarinet Class in amazing. I love Candid. This performance is clean, exciting, and beautifully played. Bravo!
Great ! Very nice arrangement. I got the image of Bernstein conducting this in my mind. And I suspect so did you..... the eyebrows on the cymbalbeats is something he also did.
Incredible playing and great arrangement! Fantastic E-flat player! Is it possible to send a copy of your arrangement? I Would love to play it with my colleagues!
Splendide, vraiment merveilleux! Did you know that a shortened version was used as the theme song for an American late-night talk show hosted by Dick Cavett?
Holy monkies this is incredible. Loved it! But why no iconic trills in the descending lines towards the beginning and elsewhere in the recurring lines?
Bravo! And the Eb is even in tune! I remember colleagues singing my praise of my Eb clarinet playing saying how well in tune I play! Gigliotti response was , ‘Playing Eb in tune is the first step to a good player’
Thank you again John ! I think Gigliotti was completely right, playing in tune, smoothly, and being to able to blend with such a difficult instrument is clearly showing that you achieved something 😁
