I’m not in my 50s yet but I appreciate your videos. I’m terribly out of shape, middle aged, and have bad knees, so I don’t find those videos with 18 year olds flying around their room realistic for me. Thanks you for these slower paced, simplified tutorials.
Thank you Chapachuu. As I learned to do this myself at an older age by watching a variety of tutorial type and other videos, I found that I wasted a lot of time trying things that were too difficult for my beginner skill level (not to mention age and joint stress). Also, I realized that just learning a bunch of individual moves doesn't allow you to really dance naturally to music for any period of time. After paring things down to just a few moves that could be easily combined, I found that I had a system that worked pretty well - looked good actually dancing to music and much easier to learn than trying to decide what to do from endless possibilities. I thought the classic "if I only knew then what I know now" I could have saved so much time and effort so I made these videos to help others that are in the same boat that I was at when I started - esp. those that are older but really, I believe this would be a great way to quickly learn at any age - younger ones can go faster and be more dynamic, but these moves still work! I'm glad others like yourself are finding these helpful, thank you again for your comment.
64, and I need to learn this so much, 1 hip done, waiting for the other 1 and major back op too,,,Boof, Bang, Boom, I think I have actually got it, gonna take it easy for now and learn it with my friend codeine, once I've had my other bits done I'm going to strut my funky stuff. By far the best breakdown on how to learn these wonderful moves, my cats are so confused when I get up and start jiggling about, 🙀😹 thank you Sir!
Thank you so much for your inspirational comment Radgie - you are incredible! (Just be careful and stay safe). Wishing you the absolute best outcome for your future surgeries and a quick return to "strutting your funky stuff"!
Star wars cantina band, love it! You guys must be busy tomorrow - stars wars day - "May the 4th be with you". Yes, we old guys have to stick together, lol.
Good point Mike, I may add that view on a future video, that way the viewer is looking at me in the same direction they are facing - my right foot is your right foot, etc.
You're very welcome. I'm glad to see you're following the next parts and didn't stop on the first video. It does take some effort and practice but you're on your way to becoming a dancing machine!
You're like Jamie Summers. Be careful though, your doctors may not be happy about the higher impact with the running man or maybe even the knee stress from this one - I'd get their ok for these. If they are fine with these, GREAT, but better safe than sorry - we want those robot knees to last!
@@catsandkilos Yeah I tweaked my left one and had to go get it drained and what not and he said no more running. I ain’t gonna lie that stung I hadn’t been able to do it for decades then lost weight and could so I did and that wasn’t such a good idea after all. No regrets while I could it felt amazing I felt alive in a way I hadn’t felt in a while 💕
For some reason YT flagged this last response from you and I just saw it in the "held for review" tab (I don't normally check that). Thank you for the update, so sorry to hear about your experience with the knee but good for you for losing the weight though! I'd been thinking about doing a video on lower impact dance moves that may be more appropriate for many people and, based on what another commenter recently said, as well as this response from you, I'm definitely going to do it. If you happen to see this post and/or the future video, I'd still run the moves by your doctors but hopefully you can do them - you sound like a very positive person that wants to stay active so I hope it works for you.
Good for you Khai, it's a fun one to learn and you will look great on the dance floor when you get it down! Each video builds on the previous one so I hope you enjoy the process - take your time with it and have fun!
@@catsandkilos I noticed you wear socks in the videos. I also wear socks on my laminated floor. I see the professionals like Elena Cruz wear shoes like Vans or Adidas Superstar. Have you tried shuffling with shoes? How was it if you did?
You are right, a lot do with shoes, I've even seen bare feet on some videos. As I am normally in my socks when in my basement (or weightlifting shoes that have a very stiff sole and are not made for jumping), I have just gotten used to doing that for the videos. Yes, I have done it with shoes as well and it's good too but you have to accentuate the hop a little more with each step to stay lighter on your feet and reduce friction - this looks good and more crisp when you are actually dancing. I think it's easier to learn with socks but then definitely try it with shoes too since you will most likely be wearing shoes if you need to break out these moves in public sometime. Thanks for bringing this up, I may do a future video on it.
@@catsandkilos I wear socks to practice the Running Man on laminated floor and my ankles, knees and hips are complaining right this minute as I type these lines. 😆 I will wear shoes tomorrow if my body give me permission to practice. We are still young and full of energy. 😆
I really appreciate how you are instructing the different steps. With practice and time comes speed. Thank you
Thank you Katherine! "With practice and time comes speed" - you are so right, thank you for that input!
i love the fact he's doing all this with a pint of beer in his hand xD
Gotta stay hydrated Wagmi, lol. :)
Best shuffle tutorial by far so far
Thanks Street, I appreciate that and glad you liked it!

No one is too old for dancing as long as you can still move fast and follow the rythm/song!!!
Great attitude Joey, so true!
Tutorial is great, but I think that my favorite part is the sweatshirt!
Haha, Live Long and Prosper Marina!

You're a good teacher.
Nice of you to say - you're probably just a good student!
yes!!! looking for some dance moves to add to our star wars cantina band and I really need to learn it from another old guy holding a beer...

I love that I can practise most of moves sitting
:) Interesting idea!
Terrific. Slow and very easy to understand
Thanks Spider, glad you liked it!
I would love to learn this by watching from behind.

A collaboration with Cats and Kilos and Catherine Gordon would forever change the world of dance!
You're right! I might have to reach out to her!

One would think robot knees would make this and the running man easier but not so much 😜

I miss the rave parties of the 90's
The 90s club scene was amazing. Unfortunately I didn't have any special moves then! lol.
Hmmmm ….. who can take “a sip” of beer ?😉..
Haha, true.
Change that hoodie to a pic of yourself with live long and shuffle on it.
Love it - great idea!
I just turned 54 and will try to learn this after the Running Man

We are! Just warm up thoroughly! Remember to hop a little with the shoes, almost like you're trying to jump rope.
