  • chase tone trutalk wah pot Hey guys!
    My pal Desmond gave me a shout the other day, with an old 70's vox was that needed some attention!
    So, here I dug in and just really fixed what was needed, sometimes, if it sounds good, it should stay that way!
    check out ChaseTone1
    www.chasetone.com
    www.ebay.com/i...
    also, thanks to Desmond for letting me work on it!
    instagram @desmachine
    I hope you guys can use some of this and apply it to your own wah wah maintenance!
    PEACE!

    Something to remember, when setting up the pot and setting it to "full treble," by turning the pot all the way to the treble side... make sure you compress the pedal all the way down, as if you are trying to turn the pedal on/off before setting the gear. If you set the pot to maximum treble without doing this, each time you turn the pedal on and off you will be over-extending the pot and pushing it further than it's meant to go.

    Well I learned a new trick watching this yesterday. Took one of my builds apart (that has a Chase Tru Talk in it, definitely dig it) and angled it to get that last tooth on the gear. Haven't had a chance to try it yet but I feel like it turned enough to give me just that little bit more high end that I was missing! Great video, now I need to get my TDK Thomas Organ out at volume and it might knock the Jen spec Fasel crybaby off my little board...

  • @Fuzzbot71
    @Fuzzbot71 4 года назад +2

    That sounds amazing for a TDK. I have crybaby with one on the way and hope it sounds that good after I change the pot. I put a TRUE talk in a Thomas Organ stack of dimes recently and the improvement was really dramatic.

    You can take a pretty shit entry level wah and absolutely beef it up into a working man's wah on a budget with these pots, had one in my V845 for years now and no hint of scratchiness.
    I absolutely believe it changes the Q and gives it that liquid feel.

    Great video once again. Nevertheless, what I didn't see you do in the video is put some white grease in that pot. I've found that it's essential to put some kind of lube to the rack and/or the pot in order to minimise the friction between them that could cause either a squeeky noise or put the pot under unnecessary stress . That's my only advice. Keep up the great content you create. Can't wait to see the Jazzmaster refret.

    • @theriffwniksevigny5473
      @theriffwniksevigny5473  4 года назад +1

      Yes. If it needed it i would have. There looked to be some automotive grease on the treadle, and that was more than need. I also like to push back on that loop to keep it in place but not wedged against the arm! Jazzmaster video coming monday or weds. Stay tuned and thanks for your interest!

    • @alexisdrosopoulos
      @alexisdrosopoulos 4 года назад +1

      @@theriffwniksevigny5473 Oh I see. The grease was not visible in the video, but it makes total sense that it already had some to begin with.

    • @pedaloof6917
      @pedaloof6917 4 года назад

      I would not advise putting grease into the potentiometer itself. Electrical Contact Spray is great however. I believe that style of potentiometer is sealed anyways (the Chase Tone one), but there might be a trick to lubing them internally? Real McCoy Custom, R weaver FX, Area 51 Tube Audio, & Fulltone are great recommendations as well for Wah-Wah potentiometers!

    Hey man awesome video; I liked the one under $100, and came right here to see more. I am new to wah's, and I recently bought a jh-1 but I hear something strange: if I go slowly with the sweep, I find a point where the volume increases and there's a resonance, and as soon as I move the foot the volume drops and the functionality gorw back to standard. What's the issue there? Is it the pot as in this video? Thanks a ton 🙏
