I got the chance to speak to Victor, the owner of the '75 Charger, at the big Chilliwack car show a couple days ago. Very nice, well spoken individual, with a well taken after car.

2:40 Holyshyt, I just got finished watching Jay Lenos garage today. Hey just put up a review on his Crane simplex like this. I never even heard of a CS until today, then I see it again.
My parents bought a brand new 76 Charger SE after my dad totaled a 75 Coronet Brougham. It was silver with red velour interior, the paint started to peel within a few years. After my mom had an accident in the car in 1980 (it was repaired), early in 1981 they traded it in for a 79 Cordoba in light blue metallic, dark blue "Corinthian" leather and power everything but the antenna that ALSO started peeling a few years later. Chrysler didn't seem to be alone with the peeling metallic paint, used to see other brands in the day also having problems with metallic paint.
XR-7G is the absolute pinnacle of Classic Cougars in my book. I’ve owned lesser classic Cougars from the time period (including a ‘69 Standard with that same super-rare factory sunroof), and always admired the G’s.
@@davidkastin4240 oh my God I just remember the commercial being just something else they should have had the little guy from Fantasy Island in the backseat
@@forestlawrencegrading9154 lofl. It would've been Dodge Chrysler Plymouth. They would have most likely sold many more cars with an even better marketing approach like that
The historic Langley Speedway, watched racing there as a kid in the late 60's, now it is part of a park, walk on that track 2/3 times a month and try to imagine it the way it was...
Old flat head no boots on the plug wires. Dam mechanic was brave to work on them when running. That cordoba was a nice ride. Back in the day. 76 cougar is my favorite of all the cougars.
My dad special ordered a triple black 76 Cordoba, the Charger SE's brother, brand new. He couldn't find 1 that 'checked enough boxes' in the dealership's inventory in the entire Chicagoland area. He wanted leather. He wanted a/c, non tilt 3 spoke wheel, he wanted the electric rear defogger, 4 speaker am/fm but not power antenna, he wanted manual windows and locks,.. but most of all, he wanted to factory P code 400 non ELB with dual exhausts and hd suspension. So a $5400 based price car turned into a $7800.00 car by the time he was done with it. He also ordered the rare factory tach. The factory screwed 2 things up on the order, which I guess was fairly common in the 70s.. It did not have the 3.21 rear gear in it, but 2.71, and also, even though he ordered it with the dual sport outside remote mirrors, his had the smaller round chromed units on it instead, albeit they were both remote controlled. After waiting 4 months for the car, he settled for it. Despite his best efforts, he couldn't keep the rust monster out of it, and by late 88 the car was in very poor condition. The 400 and 727 non lock up trans were fine though, and in late 89 he sold it to a guy that just wanted it for the drivetrain, for $300.00... Nice to see an original example of the last of the Mopar Bs!
Growing up my mom got a Cordoba traded a '73 Charger SE with a 440 for that polished turd, basically the same car as that Charger, with a 360. It it was gutless and chugged gas, she got rid of it after year, it was the last domestic car she ever bought. I was young but apparently the 440 in the charger was a '69 440 six pack with a "race" cam and headers so my uncle claims. The old photo's confirm it was orange and had the six pack with headers. As to how it got into what would have been a year old car at the time, apparently it was a car dealers son's car in NC that got into trouble running from the law. The engine was from his first car that he totaled, a '69 Charger. I heard of crazier stories, but the photos suggest it could be some truth to it.
That's the best Cougar ever made. The Charger is sweet too. Love the powerful 360 motor. I could burn rubber with the one I had and got a whopping speeding ticket. It wasn't a Charger tho. It was an '89 Dodge extended van. Very fast with power to spare. Great engine 360, also the 318 was just as good
I had a silver '75 Dodge Charger back in the 80's with the burgundy Corinthian Leather (say it in Ricardo Montalbán's voice) it wasn't fast with the 360 but it was very smooth and luxurious. Miss that car a lot.
When I saw the Dodge Charger, I thought Chrysler Cordoba with Corinthian leather. Dad owned the Cordoba which was a dream to drive. I hit a big chug hole one night and the only thing that bent was the tire rim. I never even knew this Charger existed.
Great job Dennis. You could have done a whole show on Earl's stuff ! No mention of the long exit lineup? That was epic, a narrow steep dirt trail and almost the first to leave is a trailer that jackknifed blocking the only way out.
I've only been too a few Canadian car shows but they are just so much fun ... sure, lots of US/CA brands but also foreign cars never imported to the USA. Go up if you have the opportunity!
Thank you for the sharing. I just like to ask you to do the following when you introducing the classic car. 1- turn on all lights including the signals. 2- let us here the car horn. 3- let us here the start engine running and to see and hear the sound of the car's exhaust 4- show us the trunk as well. Thank you again.
My step dad bought the MOAB of 76 Chargers, black red interior 400 4 barrel, police interceptor engine rare, off show room floor, 8k brand new! I remember him beating a new black 77 TranSam! It was the first car I ever drove I beat a 5.0 Mustang that tried passing me at 50 mph, I beat it bad, these cars were so dang ugly though!
Wow, I remember the Acadians when I was young living in Puerto Rico and recall being better looking and for some weird reason they were more reliable or better quality that their counterpart models in US, like the Malibus or Novas. 🙂
Looking at the engine of the Charger... I used to work at a Dodge dealer 1977-78. I remember the engine compartments being a lot more crowded. Now, I know that '75 was the first year of catalysts and unleaded fuel, but is it possible that US cars had more stringent emissions requirements than Canadian (or Mexican) models?
That's one of the worst years for the charger, and can't believe that he still has it. My first car was a 68, and have been a Mopar enthusiast ever since. However the first muscle car that I ever drove, was a 67 cougar that my buddy had and raised hell together when I got my 68
Awesome show Dennis! 👍 I only wish it was 1 hour long instead. Btw, I always thought the NSU's came with a rear Rotary engine, but I guess I was wrong.
Love it to death I have a 76 dodge charger 360 4bb and. I have a 77 Cordoba I put a 383 4bb in it and it was ordered with no AC like who orders a luxury car with out AC but I love it to I've had the do a up to 125mph with a 2.45 gear but I have put in an 8 3/4 rear with a 3.23 sure grip so I don't know have fast I'll go yet but it should take off better from start....... I'm not an expert but in 68 I believe Ford made a special stronger 302 like the Cougar has, I worked on a 302 boat motor in the era and it had bigger rod bolts and had more HP than the other models then used for boats. it all looked similar though ,
one might say " Jeepney " actually . I went into them in Manila ( they use it for Taxi use with extended frame & chrome ) ....great experience . The Us Army left 60,000 of them after WW 2 ( was too expensive to bring them back home i heard )
