He’s really talented. I love his singles. Unfortunately, just about all R&B artists were struggling in the late 2000s/2010s.
The late 2000s weren't a good time for R&B as a whole.
Yep. Now all we have is bass and repeating the same line 40 times. The Hip Hop & RnB genre is really garbage right now.
@@Yourmomgoestocolledge Especially when folks tried to go the EDM route when the 2010s started.
It's not love making , it's very str8 forward and most people rather listen to rap 😂😂😂
lloyd
Street love is definitely an rnb classic. Every song is hot. Lloyd should be bigger. He writes his music and he never disappoints. Plus he kills every song he's featured on.
Forreal u can play that album without skipping any tracks. I still got the exclusive Best Buy version with extra tracks. Lloyd got with Murder Inc too late 50 already heavily dented Ja & Murder Inc brand. Plus the fed case. It definitely suffered his push
Facts. That album will never get old
Love that album
Great album all the way Through through.
I am a Lloyd fanatic! One of my all time favorite artists. I’ve purchased every album multiple times (physical copies & on iTunes). I’ve seen him in concert about 4 times. I probably know 95% of his whole discography including underground songs & features. He’s such a beautiful soul.
I still got the playboy diaries on repeat
@@jasonstopsign Yoooo Playboy Diaries was a slept on classic n shooda made more
Still listening to take it low, feel so right, and Cadillac love and couple more lol
@@dehjhunaeday5743 yooo Take It Low is my songgggg.
Girl, stop lying you know you bought the bootleg from the Africans 😆
Player’s prayer was a banger in the hood that was a male anthem it might not made on the charts but the hood was playing that song nonstop I remember because I was one of them and still play that song till this day
One day, Irv is gonna get socked in his eye. He talks like he's gangsta and one day someone will test his chest. He's burned so many bridges one day he won't be able to cross the pond.
Exactly my gee, straight puss🤦😠🤷✔💯🤔💪👊...#tbg
Facts💯
This dude is so talented! I’m shocked his 3rd album flopped (the one with “Lay it down”) and that he’s only 36
One thing liked about r&b artist like Lloyd and Trey Songz back then was the fact that they had a hood vibe that was relatable.
The reason why Street Love only sold 100k when it could have hit a million when it dropped is because it didn't hit shelves till like a year+ later after the hit single "You" debuted. I remember going to Best buy week after week checking for it until finally, I gave up.
You're right. The timing of it was bad. "Killing Me" should've been a single too. That song would've blown up
i was so confused as to why it sold so low!
I miss best buy days especially listening 🎧 to CD before purchase them.... Its was awesome 😎
Street love sold over about 144,000 the first week and almost 1 million in total. This was a certified gold album. Just wanted to clarify that just im case anyone was confused lol
@@SuperWinter1987 they would've sold more if that fed case didn't hurt his label
I think Lloyd exceeded his potential without Murder Inc. He also landed a role in the Bobby Debarge movie. So not only is a talented singer ; he crossed over to acting. He's winning no matter what.
Lloyd never needed murder inc! He truly has talent ! He would’ve we good on Def Jam or Warner bros
Exactly, Irv Gotti hold Lloyd down and even had a nerve to diss Lloyd
The murder Inc story established Lloyd as a breath of fresh air. He needed the drama of that situation to make his brand of music reach out more than if he debuted in a peaceful situation
Lloyd is in my top 5 favorite make vocalist. He's a high tenor. And so am I. Lloyd made me love my voice. I have all his music
Boo I'm better
R&B has suffered since guys like Lloyd took a break. We don't appreciate good music till it's gone. Lloyd still too underrated despite what the numbers say. It's a shame.
In hindsight he might’ve did better with LA Reid in the beginning. What’s sad is he went with Irv because he and the others felt like family to him only for irv to trash him when he finally left the sinking ship that was the inc. Irv seemed to turn on everyone in the end.
He just arrogant 🤷‼️
R&B in general died sadly
Right !! It’s not the same R&B I grew up on, this is more like R&B and Trap music mixed together.
@@princesspenthewriter8120 exactly smh it’s sad because there were so many great R&B artist back then
Facts.... Praying that history repeats itself because things always come back around.
Praying r&b is one of those things...
True
Just like it's a couple of good r/b artists it's a couple of good hip hop artists, but yeah both died out fast cause it's no such thing as talent anymore.
Lloyd is talented and seems like a down to earth, laid back dude. Seems like he just fell victim to industry politics, and the soundscape was changing, which meant Rnb acts like Lloyd wasn’t the popular sound anymore. Weeknd and Drake changed Rnb forever in the 2010’s with Take Care and House Of Balloons. Popular Rnb was now dark themed and a lot more introspective. It’s still like that today for the most part.
Drake and weeknd aint R&B bruh
I would say people like party nextdoor, bryson tiller, pnb rock they changed rnb
@@Michael-vf8sy again thats not Rnb bro
@@danteprice1874 its rnb,
@@Michael-vf8sy the artist that i named is R&B the shit you named is pop music mixed with neosoul .. its Not rhythm and blues fam you dont know music
I am such of fan of Lloyd. He is amazing, love his music. I went to the Millennium Tour (again) just to see him back in October. He hasn't missed a beat
Man I remember him being in that group! They showed it on BET . When they actually showed videos. I'm old 😭
This guy right here is so dope to me... The new Ralph Tresvant is what I've always called him and I need him to remake, "Do what I gotta do". I was always mad Players prayer wasn't an official single... That street love album is a classic period.
But that Tru album is 🔥🔥🔥🔥 Dope too... And that live acoustic version of the song stays in rotation... This guy is so slept on..
You know what’s crazy was when J. Holiday basically made his own version of “Players Prayer” called “Pimp In Me” … I know I wasn’t the only one that peeped that 🤨
Personally, "Tru" is my fave Lloyd album and "Street Love" is right behind it. But, I, too, own Lloyd's albums. One of my all-time faves in da R&B genre 💯
@@still730bf they're both great albums but Street Love is still my favorite
@@JWill951 I respect it 💪🏾💪🏾 Dat is a CLASSIC ALBUM 💯
Yea it’s beyond crazy that “players prayer” wasn’t a single cause I feel like that’s his most popular song 😭😭😭 till this day I hear that song even more then “you” and “south side” 😭
Lloyd is such a talented, underrated and versatile artist. All of his singles was fire. He always deliver on the features! Lessons in Love album was one of favorites. He is so humble. Gotta love him❤️ Thanks for this video!
Can you do a video on Dino from R&B group Htown?
Thank you so much Ali for doing this video, it was a very nice surprise!❤❤
the album Street Love is an underrated classic.
No lie it was good from beginning to end with no skips ❤️
Was just listening to his iconic hook on Bedrock
Thank you for this video!👏🏾🙌🏾 You always give a spotlight to some talented artists who often don't get the recognition they deserve or are forgotten😩. Llyod is so underrated and has such a beautiful voice. He has such a beautiful spirit. I love how honest, humble and unproblematic he was. 🌚Much respect to him 🙌🏾💚. Sidenote he really could of modeled I had some gorgeous hair and was very handsome 😍🔥.
Absolutely love Lloyd! He’s so talented, unique sound, and genuinely is very humble. Thanks for doing this breakdown ♥️ Stream his new music YALL 🥳
Lloyd’s hook on “Forever” is still a top ten hook for me.
classic hook on a classic album
Facts
Ali reads Irv’s feelings. Ends it with, “Now that’s some cold stuff.” and has me on the floor laughing from his delivery. I love the in-depth knowledge of your series. Keep up the EXCELLENT work and keep the light comedy in them too. I still tell my sister in my Ali voice, “Who checking for that such and such album.” I have to find that video when you had Tyrone the crackhead as image when you said that. 💀🤣
This has me dying 😂
Lloyd is the man. Still and TRU! His independent projects are just as fire as his albums on Murder Inc. So slept on but the real ones know.
Lloyd's idea was to bridge r&b with street music. Lloyd is actually how I got into nipsey hussle before he blew up, rest in power to him🙏🏾🌠 he deserves his flowers now
“Cupid” was fire 🔥
Damn i forgot about that one
Man i had thee BIGGEST crush on Lloyd for years. Literally i was in love with him lmao. I still have all his albums and my old ipod was filled with like 200 of his songs 😅😂
I always liked Lloyd and his voice. Of course You will always be a top classic of mine (which I was blasting a few month ago on heavy rotation) but he don't need to prove anything. He had his loyal fans and ppl who enjoy his music will appreciate him for all he dropped over the years.
Sad.. I didn't know about his loss and family issues but I do hope he finds healing & peace one day...
My first time meeting Lloyd was when I was 19 at the time. There was a talent show, and he was invited. This was before his single came out, he was cool and laid back. He was singing for the ladies and they kept on following him. It was really funny at the time
Lloyd should join Silk Sonic. He'd fit in so good with Anderson Paak and Bruno Mars.
Real talk
Boo I'm better. MURRRDAAA
Nah that silk sonic sound is too perfect ish has no swing
There’s a time to hit “ Reset” an there’s a time to hit Release. Reset , Release . Timing is Everythingh
This is why I love your channel, You alwayz play the jams that I forgot about! Year of the lover is soooo nostalgic so many memories just unlocked Omg 😩
Me and my best friend were big fans of Lloyd, his album Street Love is still my favorite. What happened to singer Tynisha Keli?? She was hot in the mid-late 2000s, she had a song called “I Wish You Loved Me” I remember everyone was surprised when they found out she was white lol, her voice was so powerful.
I can't remember the of the singer- but her sing was EVERYWHERE in 98/99. Indont recall the title, but she's sings" how did you get here? Nobody's supposed to be here, I've tried the love thing for the last time...."?
@Kiana Brash Deborah Cox
She still doing her thing go follow her on ig
She stole my name lol mines is Tynisha Kayleigh 😂
I love that you ALWAYS have clips of songs and references the best channel by far
Back in 007 I saw Lloyd, Ludacris, & Nas in a Summer Jam concert in Cali. They kilt it of course!!! Lloyd came from the back of the audience, being carried to the stage by his back up dancers. Never will forget it.
When Is someone gonna do ASHER ROTH!!! That'd be a great video!!!!
Man. Lloyd is awesome!! He may have had some setbacks but I know he didn't fall off. He is a killer feature too!!
Lloyd will always be amazingly talented!❤
LLOYD is for sure a prince 👑 of RNB ! Classy talented and a triple threat. 💜💜🏆
Lloyd is in my top 5 favorite singers! I'm happy you did this video. Lloyd is so underrated!
Lloyd has a lot of potential. He probably would've had a bigger career if he signed with L.A. Reid. Street Love is a classic. I'm still mad about them not releasing "Killing Me" as a single. That could've been his biggest single. Dedication to my Ex is a great song too. That was also around the time when R&B was dead in the mainstream too.
Lloyd and Wayne banger still go to this day!!!
I still listen to Lloyd I love his music 👏🏾
Good work man. Shout out from The Bronx
Thanks!
Duuuuvvvvaaaalllll county Jax FL ‼️in the house 🏘️
It's crazy how..... up until this moment. My ENTIRE life. I never knew Lloyd was in the group N-Toon...... who I have FORGOTTEN about since my childhood.... and one of my fave songs growing up "Ready", that I haven't heard since I was a child & had completely forgot about, until you played it again in this video..... The fact Lloyd was making CLASSIC music, already. As a child in a boy band (with me as a fan). And this entire time I never knew it was him. You have no clue just how much this blew me away. On many levels, but thank you. 😃😂😂🙌💜
The 1st clue was the album's cover, there was a MOMENT of deja-vu like "I SEEN that photo before, it's too familiar" and it kinda baffled me until I heard "Ready" the WAY that song and even the music video goes back for me, is crazy. And I never knew it was Lloyd in that group or that he sung that song (I do remember knowing he was the cutest in the group, but that's evident lol)
If hes EATING off his music , he SUCCESSFUL
Right!
He lived in my neighborhood and i went to high school with him... man you should have heard him rap... lunch time was crazy
I still listen to Llyod on damn near every Playlist I create. While he never had an album that I could listen to from beginning to end there are songs from every album that I love. Feels so right from his 2nd album. His song with Drake on the mixtape. Jeezy, 8ball & MJG. And especially Wayne. He is a talented singer for sure!
Lloyd wherever you are I hopeyou are still doing music doing what you love to do Lloyd love you miss you and I hope that you will make some new music soon for your fans all around the world god bless you your family your friends and all of your fans all around the world🙏📖😊❤🎤💿📀💽
Ali could you do a "what happened to" video on the artists The Game signed to BWS, like Juice, Ya Boy, Nu Jerzey Devil, DJ Skee and that group he started MOB, with Eastwood and Cysero.
Thanks. Power and blessings from Melbourne Australia
Lloyd will always be an RnB legion he paved the way like many artist for the next generation! I grew up listening to his music! It’s sad to see real music as well as artist disappear! Let alone get the homage or respect ✊🏽 they deserve!
I can't stand irv. He's such a cold hearted person.
I love Lloyd and this video! 🔥🔥🔥
I'll be honest Street Love is one and if not the most underrated albums ever. This album was clearly ahead of its time and I still jam to it to this day. Lloyd is still trying to continue his dream and I heard some of his cool colabs as of late example Bedroom Boom. If you ask me judging by the information in this video Lloyd never got the right connect and when he did they never pushed him any further. Lloyd is an artist and like most who are truly talented and because of hate and jealousy they get sideline or sabotaged. Clearly if you ask me Irv Gotti should of worked on him more in terms of his music and his development as an artist because Lloyd has shown true craftsmanship in the music industry especially with his content. Lloyd like Rocky Balboa just needs a great soul in his corner to bring out his greatness.
Also him and irv both needed each other yes irv gave that shot when the inc was still a machine but when ja was washed and ashanti wasn’t selling lloyd kept the lights on without street love inc would have been folded
I loveee his album "street love". He's always been an underated artist. Lloyd where ya at...we love you!?!❤️
Can you do Travis Porter, Dem Franchize Boyz, Murphy Lee, Field Mobb, OJ da Juiceman, Rhymefest, Kardinal Official, Bone Crusher, Tiffany Evan's, D4L and Petty Pablo
Honorable mention here, the music industry wasn't selling records in the late 2000s that's why it was such a big deal lil Wayne sold a million copies first week of carter 3 in 2008. That's the same time period Lloyd left murder ink, streaming brought the music industry back up but no where near their peak times. Not a Lloyd Stan but his music got better starting with street love but the timing was off do to low sales across the whole industry
Why do you feel comfortable sayin “Nigga,” but you have to say “ish?”
I had no idea his 3rd album didn’t sell so well. It was REALLY good
Yeah "Girls Around the World" should've been a bigger single
Loved that song “Ready”. Remember that group. Didn’t realize he was a member of that group.
Lloyd has a loyal female fanbase so he’ll always stay afloat to some degree
True artist... Real RnB star...
Lloyd is the best vocalists his albums be 🔥🔥🔥he's very talented 👏 👌 can't wait to see him in concert coming up with Bobby Valentino
Yayyy thank you so much for doing this video!!
About time been waiting for this forever/ Ali Talks do Gotti and Boo from the R Kelly song fiesta
This would be a great one. Especially because they from my city.
All Girls Around The World" was a HUGE song dude. Idk what you mean "it didn't do well" that song & video STAYED on the radio and music channels, every time I turned it on. I know because I also had it GLUED on repeat. I may not know what "numbers" he was doing, but with the songs "You" & "All Girls...." LLOYD was popping for awhile. Those 2 songs alone are timeless masterpieces, so is "Ready" which I STILL can't believe he made & that he was in the boy band N Toon and I never knew it 😆 Lloyd is king. Period. 👑
And a BETTER man than Trey Songz. (unrelated, but still had to be said)
I like both guys. Lloyd n Trey. Both brought something to the rnb table at the time it was kinda floaty. Trey a good dude we met when they came to tour on our side of the world. I know they have gone thru some sht its sad, hope they all revive frm all the bs. That Irv transmission was trash n so uncalled for also. Enjoyed your insight tho Sis 😊
"Get it Shawty" is a legendary track
SAD BUT TRUE R&B WILL NEVER BE THE SAME …. THEN AGAIN I’M HIGHLY APPRECIATIVE WITNESSING JODECI TO BOYS 2 MEN , ASHNTI , MYA , SO ON SO 90’s AND
2000’s ERA 🔥🔥🔥
Lloyd Still Out Here MAKING Good music, he has ALBUM on Tidal ,
I gotta hear it soon , been a fan since day 1 love him !!
That Jacquees ft Llyod & Rich Homie Quan "feel it" is pretty hot too. I love me some Lloyd baaaby!
As far as I’m concerned every song he made was a banger
I see him definitely working with Miguel! I think they’d be magic together
Personally I feel like Lloyd would of been even a bigger star had he signed with YOUNG MONEY instead of INTERSCOPE when WAYNE tried to sign him....He did one album on INTERSCOPE and was let go..... Everything he made with WAYNE was solid
Player's Prayer is still played heavily over here man this video makes me feel so nostalgic 😩
His voice
, hair and style I love everything about him
I remember him saying irv didn't help him with the you video and he secured the wayne feature himself and shot the vid himself
Street Love, that whole album but especially the title track, spoke to me in my 20s. Talk about a flashback. Now I got to dig out that album on my iPod and listen to it all the way through.
the conent bro, keep going, trust me
GREAT EPISODE!
Yo why n toon toon time not on apple iTunes?
Lloyd has always been an R&B gem! Treat you Good get me through some special nights 😏😛😅!Great job ALI! Can you do a WHT CO-ED Roll With Me will always be a classic!
His slow wine with me song is my,favorite and street love album is my favorite album ❤️
Talented Artist 💪🏽💪🏽
I met Lloyd on Candler Rd in Dekalb co Ga at the Shell dude was real cool 😎

Lloyd ft ja rule
Was a effing 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥💯💪
Get it shawty was huge too in cali. Especially with the lil wayne remix. I remember I had that as my ring tone on my razor phone lol
He always favored black Michael Jackson, to me..
Sir, even if you’re reading verbatim, DO NOT EVER SAY THE N WORD. Please and thank you
Tru was an amazing album. Lloyd is an underrated goat
I think I just noticed that Lloyd was the early 2000s version of Nate Dogg the dude singing on all the rap and hip-hop songs of the day
Oh Lawd N-Toon...you just took me back in time
Foo was pop locking while singing on a rap song 🤣
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Now I need to listen to "tru" again
Man I loved Lloyd's first 2 albums. I could play both albums straight through without skipping any tracks. Definitely miss his sound.
You should do a video on Big Lurch!
great video brother
