Nice work mason! That looks awesome I’m more of a hawk and slicker guy myself but I got my start in masonry doing a lot of repointing of old buildings. But I love your work man great job bro. And great explanation on talking about timing and factors that affect when you put a finish on everything. The only way to learn that is time and experience and you my friend definitely know what your talking about for sure
I live on a property with lots of sandstone on it. I've been putting the sandstone on our foundation using a white grout for contrast. Doesn't look to bad. I like your video's.

We are overgrowing (2-3" joints) with s-type mortar on real stone and we want to achieve a darker browner color, how is this achieved? Ive been told keeping it wet will darken it and keep it from turning grey. Any thoughts?
Question: I've got a PAINTED wall (fireplace surround) with large stones stuck on the wall. Both stones and wall are painted. So, I want to add mortar, but will it stick to the painted surface between each stone? This is such an ugly, weird fireplace. I was going to paint it all with Kilz then try to mortar. Oh, and paint the stones - I assume I should do so first. Any advice is welcome!
Looks good man but I see you miss a lot of details it’s important to finish laying the stone then grouting the joints to have consistent coloring when dry. Also what’s up with the door casing the stone would have to be removed to replace the door which looks like it needs to be. But other than that good work dude.
