Wow Hayley, what an amazing transformation! The second version is fabulous on you and the fabric is beautiful😍 You made the right call, no doubt about it. I love watching you sew, you’re so calm, patient and methodical whilst sewing that you always make me want to sew!😊
What a clever girl! I agree the second version is much better and you look FABULOUS! Just shows where a bit of ingenuity and determination gets you. ***** xxxLyn
Hayley...what an awesome vlog!!! Thank you so much for slowly and clearly going through the french seam , laying in the sleeves flat on a woven and very new to me the interfacing method. Makes so much sense...only half way through your lovely video...have to go to bed but wanted to make sure you knew how much I appreciate your tips...will look forward to the rest tomorrow and your other vlogs. xx Karen
The dress is so lovely, and you're right, floaty is you! Well done!! I'll call that dress the phoenix and I absolutely love the ingenuity behind the make!!! Thank you so much for your thoughts and showing us those valuable techniques!! xx
So excited to learn that new interfacing technique!! I don't have an overlocker and it's fun to know something besides pinking and zigzag. Your dress is very pretty on you!
Lovely sew and you have inspired me to sew up the fabric I have washed it. Love your vlogs and we don’t suit everything but well done for rescuing it you look great ❤❤
Great rescue, so glad you were able to save it. I believe the flat felled seam is used here because it is a very durable seam finish and where the skirt meets the bodice is are area with a lot of weight/stress on it.
I thought the original dress looked good on you, but WOW! The final one definitely looks AMAZING on you and I instantly knew what you meant by the first one aging you.
Lucky you had the extra fabric to remake what didn't work for you. Huge improvement, and so flattering. Looks a little big in the waist, perhaps a thin elastic casing to pull it in and add a bit of gathering there? But regardless of that, this dress will be one you reach for frequently and receive compliments every time you do so. Well done you
Those of us with Pear body shapes just feel better with a fuller skirt. Good to know when I make mine, because I also love this pattern and bought it. Luckily we sew, and can hack patterns to suit our bodies better😊
I used that interfacing technique in the 90s. I had forgotten about it. Thanks for reminding me. You can often but not always set in a sleeve flat. depends on the circumference of the armhole and the fit. Love the circle skirt. I need to try that on a shirtdress I am currently unhappy with...
So amazing! I also do not like shirt dresses but…I am making another one right now! lol. I am trying the Silversaga Juliette dress. I am having to adjust it to my size with a FBA and adding at the waist too but with the elastic neckline with no collar but button up front and pleats at the waist, I hope I like this style of shirt dress. I don’t like collars anymore. My style has changed a lot as I now prefer a looser fit instead of a tailored fit. I have had this dress in my head for a long time and now an interview has pushed me to make it now. Wish me luck!
My sewing machine/overlooking mechanic would have a heart attack, hearing your suggestion to knot your overlooked threads and stitching through. He mentioned it's very damaging for your tension discs.

Your dress is very pretty on you!
Thank you, I loved finishing the interfacing this way and have done it since!
When inserting a sleeve on the flat it easy enough to use a French seam for the professional finish to which we all aspire. Happy stitching!
I can’t believe I hadn’t realised that at the time!! 😂
Lovely sew and you have inspired me to sew up the fabric I have washed it. Love your vlogs and we don’t suit everything but well done for rescuing it you look great ❤❤
Thank you so much, enjoy sewing the fabric, it’s lovely to work with!
Fabulous result!
Thank you! 😊
gorgeous dress!
Thank you! 😊
I loved your dress and video
Thank you!!
Looks great on you!
Thank you so much

Ah that makes sense! thank you
Very nice! 👍🏽
Thank you!
The colours in this fabric suit you so beautifully. Also I love the altered dress pattern - this was well worth modifying. 🌸
Thank you so much, I'm so pleased I did it!
I thought the original dress looked good on you, but WOW! The final one definitely looks AMAZING on you and I instantly knew what you meant by the first one aging you.
Thank you so much, watching it back it doesn't look as bad as I thought but I definitely didn't feel comfortable in it and love the new version more!

Thank you so much, yes it was definitely lucky I had enough fabric otherwise it just wouldn’t have been worn at all!
Those of us with Pear body shapes just feel better with a fuller skirt. Good to know when I make mine, because I also love this pattern and bought it. Luckily we sew, and can hack patterns to suit our bodies better😊
Yes, definitely a fuller skirt for me! But always useful to try new things - even if to confirm what you already knew!! Enjoy sewing it up!
I used that interfacing technique in the 90s. I had forgotten about it. Thanks for reminding me. You can often but not always set in a sleeve flat. depends on the circumference of the armhole and the fit. Love the circle skirt. I need to try that on a shirtdress I am currently unhappy with...
My pleasure!! Aaah ok that makes sense. Oh I'm sorry to hear you're not happy with your dress, hopefully the different skirt can save it!
Second dress looks great - l will do the same.
Thank you! Go for it!
Nice rescue! I had a similar problem with the Kitty Dress, I ended up turning it into a separate blouse and skirt, so. Ow I have options!! 🐾🐾
Great save!!
i now set in all my sleeves the way that you have done today as its easier and neater to overlock or flat fell or faux french the sleeve seam .
Yes!! I didn't even think about how it would make it easier to do French seams!
Well done, it definitely suits you better. I like a shirt dress but I always thing they need to be in a solid colour for me.
Thank you, I would love to make a shirt dress in a plain chambray

Good luck, and best of luck with the interview!!
Like a fuller skirt on you too! 💕 lovely ☺️
Thank you!
My sewing machine/overlooking mechanic would have a heart attack, hearing your suggestion to knot your overlooked threads and stitching through. He mentioned it's very damaging for your tension discs.
Whoops, will make sure not to do that in the future
Good girl!!!
It looks fantastic- but I think it isn’t showing off your waist and a belt would make you feel more put together! Don’t give up! 😊
Thanks for the tip!
