I do not agree. Even if it easy to use you need game knowledge to play her or you just get clap by good players. People say the same thing that you commented here about Raider, Orochi, Hitokiri, kyoshin, Black Prior, Jörmungandr, kensei and a long etc when they came up as new characters or reworked ones.
I remember on pirates release I was 100% on the "pirate's balanced just make good reads" train... My opinion changed about a week after buying her. I'm not usually one to cry Nerf, or claim a character is overpowered, hell, I don't think I even complained much on pre-nerf Gryphon, this might be the worst, most busted character, second only to on release cent.
I can see why people hate pirate but for some reason I can't hate them lol. No matter what even when I fight them I can't hate them. One of the few characters I find fun to fight lol.
I've recently unlocked pirate and my though on the way to rep 1 was constantly "this makes the game feel stupid". I was performing better than average, could handle every hero without problem and had a lot of fun. Pirate is fun. But yeah.. For sure unbalanced. What I like the most is that devs came out with different ideas and not the boring set which mixes unreactable bashes and undodgeable like Gryphon, Kyoshin, Nobushi, Black Prior, Hitokiri, Shinobi,... Pirate is cool and very strong too...
Guys guys Pirate isn't that good because she doesn't have a bash ok. I hope the next patch gives her what she needs. A bash that confirms a heavy so she can use her fair and balanced mix ups

The thing that bugs me with pirate is that i can't seem to light them out of the unblockables leaving me with the 50-50 option of parry\dodge vs counter faint into gb.
Hell, no. That shit was the most annoying to deal with. Nowadays the people who refused to make reads and option selected every unblockable are the ones who constantly dodge attack. Much easier to deal with.
A character shouldn't be able to access an unblockable from neutral like this. At least Shug has to charge it, BP has to do the bulwark, and others have to first either throw some other attack(s) first or parry. Pirate can go into one from neutral then chain into another one and another one until outta stam. That's pretty busted
The amount of neutral/panic dodge heavies this pirate threw keeps her in line w/ 90% of MM randoms. Mf would dodge heavy on several occasions for no reason.
Pirate is easy to read. Gotta learn the character and adapt to how someone plays them. I've bodied plenty pirates before just gotta be patient. Don't work everytime but the percentage of winning is definitely increased if you learn the character first. Watch how you play the character and see if anyone else uses it the same way. If not people usually fight in a patterned way. This pirate always fakes the backstep unblockable into a GB then let's it fly the second time the backstep unblockable is used. Fake forward heavy into a side step heavy. Dude was playing good but was very predictable. Easier seeing it from a 3rd party instead of in the fight but yeah man it's all about knowing what your opponent is gonna do.

@@sursidehouston713 the problem isn't making reads, its how much every read favors the Pirate, off of a correct read from the pirate, let's use the forward dash unblockable as an example, she gets a confirmed 5 damage, into a walk the plank 50/50, then she can feint that into a GB for a heavy into a confirmed 5 damage, which then leads into ANOTHER 50/50 mixup. Now let's look at the opposing party, off of a correct read, on the forward dash unblockable, you get a confirmed light into whatever mixup you have, if you parry, but if you dodge, you get _nothing_ due to her dodge recovery from _everything,_ it is factually unbalanced due to that fact alone.
Pirate's not that broken, it's just the dodge cancels are too fast and the unblockable keeps chaining back into itself. Chain offense is a serious problem rn
Hulk deserves a lot of respect for competing at 30fps against a Pirate. Once again this series showcases how strong the newest heroes are in the hands of someone who has played them for 70 reps. Pirate deserves to get knocked down a few pegs with a couple nerfs. Like making the pistol shot not guaranteed after landing a heavy, taking away the heavy unblockable soft feint to GB, and make it so she can't dodge cancel after LITERALLY ANY ATTACK EVEN IF IT WAS WHIFFED. Remember how Orochi got his dodge cancel after whiffing a bash got taken away? It was because it was too strong, but apparently its okay for Pirate to have that plus hyper armor follow-ups because she's new any Ubi knows people will buy her
You do know the pistol shot does 5 damage right? Lol. It's not that big of a deal to have it guaranteed. Everyone is screaming "Nerf this, nerf that!" When all Ubi needs to do is nerf her stamina a little bit so she can't soft feint 5 times before getting out of stamina. Nerf her stamina a little bit and maybe get rid of the hyper armor on dodge and she'll be balanced.

So, most people sit and wait for the pirate to get her guaranteed pistol shot and THEN they deal with her mixup after. It also locks you into being open to attacks for longer, and it will ledge if the heavy that guarantees the pistol shot didn’t ledge you.

It's not the heros fault that you can't react to the chain light. Each and every hero has the same speed for shain lights. You could argue the same for lawbringer, he could either light you after his shove or guard break you which is up to you to predict. As for ledgeing, every type of attack in the game can ledge. Just be aware of your surroundings and don't position yourself with a ledge behind you. The devs already baby proofed all the maps so that it's harder to ledge.

Gonna be honest and drop my hot take here. Pirate is not that bad to fight. I play a lot of the characters on the roster and for the most part, I do pretty decent. The lights aren’t too hard to block or parry sometimes but I don’t see all the hate. I feel like the unblockable isn’t too hard to deal with and it has an easy animation to see when it’s not feinted but, I put too much practice into that💀💀 maybe I just no lifed too much. But I can see the difference though depending on what character you’re playing. I also feel like some characters deal with other characters better but it all just depends.
I like watching hulk play. Definitely one of my favourite people to see on the channel, but whenever I watch him, since shugo is a relatively simple and easy hero, I always think “His opponent has to try sooo much harder than him”. This video was the opposite.
Oof, dealing with the Pirate is so difficult. I think the hero would be much more balanced if her dodge attack was considered a light so that she gets punished much more for spamming it carelessly, and so that she doesn't get a pistol shot every time she throws it. Also, remove the uninterruptible stance from her forward dodge attack, it's just stupid.
@@TommorowISNAP Yeah, I just think that some attacks are way too fast and oppressive for giving only a mere heavy parry punish. I would do the same with Orochi's storm rush - it it's so fast, damaging, and spammable in a powerful mix-up then let's at least reward players for reading it right.

Pirate deserves to get knocked down a few pegs with a couple nerfs. Like making the pistol shot not guaranteed after landing a heavy, taking away the heavy unblockable soft feint to GB, and make it so she can't dodge cancel after LITERALLY ANY ATTACK EVEN IF IT WAS WHIFFED. Remember how Orochi got his dodge cancel after whiffing a bash got taken away? It was because it was too strong, but apparently its okay for Pirate to have that plus hyper armor follow-ups because she's new any Ubi knows people will buy her

You do know the pistol shot does 5 damage right? Lol. It's not that big of a deal to have it guaranteed. Everyone is screaming "Nerf this, nerf that!" When all Ubi needs to do is nerf her stamina a little bit so she can't soft feint 5 times before getting out of stamina. Nerf her stamina a little bit and maybe get rid of the hyper armor on dodge and she'll be balanced.
@@cam-rl8xo The fact that the pistol shot doesn’t do much damage isn’t why it’s strong. Because it’s guaranteed, your opponent never expects that you’ll light them instead of doing the pistol shot. So, most people sit and wait for the pirate to get her guaranteed pistol shot and THEN they deal with her mixup after. It also locks you into being open to attacks for longer, and it will ledge if the heavy that guarantees the pistol shot didn’t ledge you.
@@nobushilxix2802 If you're arguing that the pistol is broken cause the pirate can chain a light after it then that's dumb. She a mix up hero, you're supposed to learn how you're opponent fights. It's not the heros fault that you can't react to the chain light. Each and every hero has the same speed for shain lights. You could argue the same for lawbringer, he could either light you after his shove or guard break you which is up to you to predict. As for ledgeing, every type of attack in the game can ledge. Just be aware of your surroundings and don't position yourself with a ledge behind you. The devs already baby proofed all the maps so that it's harder to ledge.

But when they can cancel with a guard break. Youre getting GB not matter what you do at that point. Dodge, GB. Try to parry, GB. And you cant light them out cuz the moves have hyper armor. At least take off the hyper armor and it would solve a good bit of it honestly

Gonna be honest and drop my hot take here. Pirate is not that bad to fight. I play a lot of the characters on the roster and for the most part, I do pretty decent. The lights aren’t too hard to block or parry sometimes but I don’t see all the hate. I feel like the unblockable isn’t too hard to deal with and it has an easy animation to see when it’s not feinted but, I put too much practice into that💀💀 maybe I just no lifed too much. But I can see the difference though depending on what character you’re playing. I also feel like some characters deal with other characters better but it all just depends.

I like watching hulk play. Definitely one of my favourite people to see on the channel, but whenever I watch him, since shugo is a relatively simple and easy hero, I always think “His opponent has to try sooo much harder than him”. This video was the opposite.

Oof, dealing with the Pirate is so difficult. I think the hero would be much more balanced if her dodge attack was considered a light so that she gets punished much more for spamming it carelessly, and so that she doesn't get a pistol shot every time she throws it.
Also, remove the uninterruptible stance from her forward dodge attack, it's just stupid.
@@TommorowISNAP Yeah, I just think that some attacks are way too fast and oppressive for giving only a mere heavy parry punish. I would do the same with Orochi's storm rush - it it's so fast, damaging, and spammable in a powerful mix-up then let's at least reward players for reading it right.
