I’ve seen other comments regarding PBD seemingly “changing” lately. I agree. He seems sometimes to be rude, condescending, cutting people off, angry and self righteous. I’ve cringed lately the way he’s treated Rob, Tom and Adam. Unprovoked. I have been watching this podcast for a long time but am feeling disappointed lately. I find myself fast forwarding and/or ending the podcast early. Much respect to Tom, Rob, Vinny and, yes, even Adam. Everyone deserves respect and not to be belittled. Especially on air.

Message to Pat, I went to grad school and loved working with the one off Iranian student in the class. He had the same struggles as all of us, looking for work, wanting a better job. Trying to pass the class. Nobody treated him worse than anyone else. However the Indian students had a complete system going on. Cheating banks of past tests, Would copy the same assignment, and turn it in, had people ready to live with an work in San Fran. These situations are not the same. When you see that 75% of H1B's coming from one country, something is a bit wrong.

Asian cultures support the concept of honoring their senior parents by caretaking for them into their old age. Therefore, Asian parents have an incentive to expect more from their children.

Firms like Goldman, JP, Google, Etc… I do agree 75k a year in general for a 22 year old is great, but it’s not great and it’s below average for the people who were at the top of their classes in highschool then went onto the top universities because of that work and then went onto seek employment at the top companies in the most lucrative sectors to just be met by people willing to accept way less comp and not complain because they have visa status held over them.

As a white American, who was born and is basically stuck here in the inflation capital of the world, I constantly hear people saying Americans as a whole regardless of race, is lazy and dont wanna work or wants to much money. The #1 reason the system is that way is work visas. People of foreign countries that can come here go to school or work here for a few years, have the incentive to work 80 hours a week for 5 years at lower pay, they have the ability to save up a few years 5 as a guess, then they take all of that savings back home, or they wire it home every week. Then they go home and live the life of a rich man, something an American born native cannot do and is stuck here living in poverty.

My husband was an engineer. He was asked to disqualify all the American applications so they could hire the h1b. All but one were on salary reasons. The boss was mad that he couldn't disqualify the last, a highly qualified engineer who was now working for best buy, unable to find work. The candidate was brought in for an interview and could still not be disqualified. The posting was pulled and rewritten so this American could not qualify. H1b is a game and American engineers are losing. I am an engineering professor but in the back of my mind, I feel bad for not suggesting a business degree. Lots of hard work without proper recognition for engineers. Most engineers transition to management or sales because of money and recognition. Fix that and you will solve your stem problems. Plenty of great American students and schools. The government is pouring money into STEM education.

Again someone working from the software industry I've seen my horror stories of H1B and after looking online at how low these h1b salaries are, many Americans are getting shafted and can't find work. They have lied to us that this is the only 200k salary person of rare knowledge, but this isn't at all true with low pay employees. H1b should be completely replaced with a high income requirement.

I am a first generation immigrant. I fully understand why people come to the USA. People that come here need to believe in American Values, they need to be vetted, even if temporary employees. Historically we see that some of the billionaires and great minds of the past that were brought to America, also brought their ideologies that have been destroying our youth and future for Americans. These are the ideas we are fighting against today! The H1-B visa conversation needs to happen, however it has to be negotiated and communicated to the best interest to the future for Americans. Several of my friends have been victims of the h1b visa program. On average, it took some of them nearly 2 years to find a new job that matched their salary pre h1b. There is nothing more humiliating then getting laid off and being to train your replacement in order to keep your severance. PBD is so wrong on this issue, its not even funny. h1b needs to be completely removed and banned permanently.

Lot of people have strong opinion against H1B visa without understanding what H1B visa is. As someone currently trying to transition to H1B visa, its crazy how much misinformation is there. First of all H1B visa is not given to anyone. You need to have at minimum bachelor's degree and u can only work on industry and position related to your degree. If u have bachelors in emgineering u have to work in emgineering field. If u dont u will loose the visa. You will not get h1b visa for low skill jobs like janitor, land scaping, waitering and so on. This is one of the big misinformation I have been hearing with anti H1B visa group. Talking about salary, u have to have a competitive salary. U cannot work with low paying wages. They will disqualify the application. This is another big misinformation I see. Everyone is in narrative that h1b holders are working for less money. If it was only that easy to get it. As a foreigner it is very hard to find job in usa as most of then require us citizen ship. H1b also require sponsorship which many company avoids. H1b holders only get to apply for 20 to 30 percent of the job posting. So it crazy how all of u think we just come replace u guys when there are so many gate keepers that prevent us from getting the job amd the visa. Now u guys are doubling down on it. Sweden and Denmark do not use the EURO, and the latecomers into the EU do NOT have the EURO: Poland, Hungary, Czech Republic, Romania, and Bulgaria. It drives me nuts when Tom makes statements that are not true.
They don't have it YET but to join the EU you must agree to adopt the Euro at some point in the future when that countries economy is strong enough. Denmark is an exception. Sweden have avoided it so far but Sweden's Treaty of Accession of 1994 made it subject to the Treaty of Maastricht, which obliges states to join the eurozone once they meet the necessary conditions.

I am all for merit based immigrants getting recruited for the benefit of our Country I am a firm believer that this will ultimately be a positive for America. But not at the cost of struggling qualified Americans. American Companies, especially those that have profited immensely over the years (Tech Companies), should hire qualified Americans for higher paying jobs. Companies should train Americans looking for a better profession/job. It seems to me (I could be wrong) that tech companies are looking to exploit H1-B immigrants and ignore qualified Americans simply to be even more profitable then they are now. What's wrong with investing in the American People? What's wrong with speading the wealth just a little? The wealth gap keeps expanding more and more each year, I am all for capitalism but something is wrong with the current formula.

I’ve cringed lately the way he’s treated Rob, Tom and Adam. Unprovoked. I have been watching this podcast for a long time but am feeling disappointed lately. Message to Pat, I went to grad school and loved working with the one off Iranian student in the class. He had the same struggles as all of us, looking for work, wanting a better job. Trying to pass the class. Nobody treated him worse than anyone else. However the Indian students had a complete system going on. Cheating banks of past tests, Would copy the same assignment, and turn it in, had people ready to live with an work in San Fran. These situations are not the same. When you see that 75% of H1B's coming from one country, something is a bit wrong.
The Indian population have suffered from poverty for generations. When resentment builds, people begin to feel as if they can rationalize exploiting others. We see this happening in Africa as well. Asian cultures, for example, put tremendous pressure upon scholastic excellence. The parents have higher expectations for their children often driven by two motivating factors: a strong sense of pride ( as they believe that their children reflect their parental success) & a motivation for wealth or a better lucrative life for their children. Asian cultures support the concept of honoring their senior parents by caretaking for them into their old age. Therefore, Asian parents have an incentive to expect more from their children.

My husband was an engineer. He was asked to disqualify all the American applications so they could hire the h1b. All but one were on salary reasons. The boss was mad that he couldn't disqualify the last, a highly qualified engineer who was now working for best buy, unable to find work. The candidate was brought in for an interview and could still not be disqualified. The posting was pulled and rewritten so this American could not qualify. H1b is a game and American engineers are losing. I am an engineering professor but in the back of my mind, I feel bad for not suggesting a business degree. Lots of hard work without proper recognition for engineers. Most engineers transition to management or sales because of money and recognition. Fix that and you will solve your stem problems. Plenty of great American students and schools. The government is pouring money into STEM education.

Again someone working from the software industry I've seen my horror stories of H1B and after looking online at how low these h1b salaries are, many Americans are getting shafted and can't find work. They have lied to us that this is the only 200k salary person of rare knowledge, but this isn't at all true with low pay employees. H1b should be completely replaced with a high income requirement.

I am a first generation immigrant. I fully understand why people come to the USA. People that come here need to believe in American Values, they need to be vetted, even if temporary employees. Several of my friends have been victims of the h1b visa program. On average, it took some of them nearly 2 years to find a new job that matched their salary pre h1b. There is nothing more humiliating then getting laid off and being to train your replacement in order to keep your severance. PBD is so wrong on this issue, its not even funny. h1b needs to be completely removed and banned permanently.

Lot of people have strong opinion against H1B visa without understanding what H1B visa is. As someone currently trying to transition to H1B visa, its crazy how much misinformation is there. First of all H1B visa is not given to anyone. You need to have at minimum bachelor's degree and u can only work on industry and position related to your degree. If u have bachelors in emgineering u have to work in emgineering field. If u dont u will loose the visa. You will not get h1b visa for low skill jobs like janitor, land scaping, waitering and so on. This is one of the big misinformation I have been hearing with anti H1B visa group. Talking about salary, u have to have a competitive salary. U cannot work with low paying wages. They will disqualify the application. This is another big misinformation I see. Everyone is in narrative that h1b holders are working for less money. If it was only that easy to get it. As a foreigner it is very hard to find job in usa as most of then require us citizen ship. H1b also require sponsorship which many company avoids. H1b holders only get to apply for 20 to 30 percent of the job posting. So it crazy how all of u think we just come replace u guys when there are so many gate keepers that prevent us from getting the job amd the visa. Now u guys are doubling down on it. There are few groups that missuse the system. They hire only people from their country but that is few. Majority of us struggle. Also h1b visa is temporary, it is not a permanent stay. U guys are mixing other visa types with h1b visa because it's a fad word now.

Please make Tom fact-check his statements. When he talks about Europe, he is wrong so many times. And on today's episode, he said that the UK was the only one that kept their currency-WRONG. Sweden and Denmark do not use the EURO, and the latecomers into the EU do NOT have the EURO: Poland, Hungary, Czech Republic, Romania, and Bulgaria. It drives me nuts when Tom makes statements that are not true.
They don't have it YET but to join the EU you must agree to adopt the Euro at some point in the future when that countries economy is strong enough. Denmark is an exception. Sweden have avoided it so far but Sweden's Treaty of Accession of 1994 made it subject to the Treaty of Maastricht, which obliges states to join the eurozone once they meet the necessary conditions.
The EU is a total sham and backwards. Trying so hard to be a union. They will never come close to being the U.S.

I am all for merit based immigrants getting recruited for the benefit of our Country I am a firm believer that this will ultimately be a positive for America. But not at the cost of struggling qualified Americans. American Companies, especially those that have profited immensely over the years (Tech Companies), should hire qualified Americans for higher paying jobs. Companies should train Americans looking for a better profession/job. It seems to me (I could be wrong) that tech companies are looking to exploit H1-B immigrants and ignore qualified Americans simply to be even more profitable then they are now. What's wrong with investing in the American People? What's wrong with speading the wealth just a little? The wealth gap keeps expanding more and more each year, I am all for capitalism but something is wrong with the current formula.

My grandson is a third generation to be born outside of India. He graduated as a chemical engineer from University of California. It took him 4 years to land a permanent job. For the first 4 years after graduating he had temporary positions he used to work for few months each year . All that time the thing known as student loan was hanging on his head.
