50k views hype? :D anyways I'll probably be making a new guide soon. This one was outdated and in all honesty, poorly done. I just kinda yolo'd and did it off the top of my head in 30 mins without preparation. I'll take some time to make a proper one soon :)
I loved the "Go ham niggy" notification when you had your stacks up haha! Epic video though, not many decent Monk guides around, keep up the good work! :)
@ mic volume comments. I know it is low and there is nothing I can do about it at this point. I can't really go back in time and put the volume up. So just deal with it or just click on my conveniently placed link in the description to my written guide. It's the same thing as this basically but you don't have to endure my horrible, inaudible voice
A trick to not get your jabbed disarmed so you can still do your main abilities is to get the minor glyph that makes you jab with your fists it's rlly helpful and I hope this helped u c:
haste or crit purely preference. I'm gonna do a new updated guide soon after i do some theorycrafting with it. Basically haste aint gonna help you when you're CCd because your energy is going to cap. and monks get CCd a LOT. Crit gives you more burst and most monk comps rely on such burst to land kills. Haste is probably best in WWLS comp because of the sustained pressure it has. But for other comps such as WW/Spriest which rely on quick, bursty swaps for kills the crit is more important. so in all honesty i think its comp-dependent and preference. At the end of the day if your a casual 1800 guy it's not going to make the slightest difference. Just pick which one you want and go with it
Just a quick question how do monks beat a 845k warlock In a 1v1 setting cause I have seen nothing but locks being op chaos bolts hitting for like 400k and having no time to recover
i gonna ask you something... i play MoP on a private srv, yeah yeah private etc but legion is shit... i feel robbed that i bought the collector's tbh... anyway back to what i wanted to ask, can i play Monk WW with a 2h staff? i really like 2h over dual wield on monk, it's my personal opinion, and if i can, what kind of enchant should i put on it? Dancing Steel or Weapon Chain and also a friend of mine is playing Warr arms, can we do 3S as WW / Arms / Healer?
I hope you don't mind if i play devil's advocate, I'm jsut trying to learn. When I look at Voltariux's armory, who is the top pvp ww monk atm i believe, he his using the agile primal diamond and also he seems to prioritize haste over crit, do you think it's jsut a preference thing or is there a reason for it such has his pvp team composition and such?
Thank you, very nice vid. Monks are great fun, but still have an image problem. Or maybe it´s wars just being too strong right now, so all that is left for us is 2s.
Hey Light, I am having trouble with keybinds. Do you move around with WASD? If yes, how do you manage to use your Paralysis keybound to 9 with Shift and Control modifiers at the same time as you move around? xD
I use the razer naga mouse which means that all the numbers, -, and = are on my mouse. I move using WASD and strafe by holding the right mouse button and using A and D. I do not use Q or E to strafe, I have them bound to other abilities.
I found out to turn mic up! Only recently though, future videos will have good mic sound :p And you use RJW instead of tiger because it gives you an extra ability to use on your burst, the little ticks really add up fast and its an extra ~60k single target damage when you burst. The tiger breaks CC too much, is a long CD, and doesn't do as much damage burst or sustained as RJW, therefore wind is better :)
Yo man, first of all I really enjoy watching you because you´re such a good WW Monk. Now, Ik this sounds weird since it´s 2years later but I play on a private server and don´t understand the glyph of sparring, and you didn´t really explained it, just said it gives you more survivability so yea.. What does it do exactly?
I have a question, why do you not want to be disarmed? It does nothing at all to your damage from abilities, it is ONLY auto attacks, and they still hit for nice damage even with the disarm on you? Just curious to why you would rather have weapon chain over another dancing steel
The addon is "Weakauras" and when you are disarmed it reduces ALL damage not just autoattacks. Test it out, it makes you do about 10-20% damage for the duration of the disarm, so it is imperative that you take the weapon chain because 8s disarms are horrible
Odd, since none of the abilities are related to weapon damage O.o Yet I rarely see people wanting to disarm me, since we just get better defensive stats when it is
I find that odd in turn :P disarming monks is very effective and highrated players do it a lot. The only difference is that your abilities do not REQUIRE a weapon to use, they act as if you used them without a weapon equipped, and as you know without a weapon equipped you will do pitiful damage :p
I'm by no means the best Monk or anything, but I usually use it when there's a pesky Rogue that I want to keep in combat or when someone is low on health and I want to finish them off without getting off my current target.
***** question: At what time and place you would want to stick to a target with (for example) + 80% hp when there is another target on execute range nearby? Sounds really weird, huh O.o
Light, if i may why use diffuse magic when you can just use zenmeditation? It does nearly the same thing and most casters wont get close enough quicker to break zenmeditation. Also if you take it as glyph you can move around while doing it thus in my mind nearly making diffuse magic useless. Now i know that diffuse magic has the amazing ability to reverse magic curses. But you have detox and the other things can be dispelled. for instance against a shadow priest i can just detox his plauge zen med and then i will have done nearly the same as i would've done with diffuse magic. Other than that, i'd actually more like a good tips and tricks video. Where you can show tricks/tips that you have that can help the rest of us WWs out :D Also.. What is your DPS rotation in PvP? ;-)
Zen meditation and Diffuse magic are two entirely different spells that serve different functions. Diffuse magic is a personal defensive / preemptive cooldown, and Zen Meditation is a primarily a team / utility cooldown, with weak defensive uses at best. 1. zen meditation is above all, a TEAM cooldown that you use not for yourself, but to prevent CC on your teammates and save them from dying if necessary. 2. zen meditation absorbs only FIVE spells, therefore it can absorb random things like mirror image frostbolts, making it a lot shorter most of the time 3. zen meditation is VERY easy to cancel. a simple counterspell, typhoon, fear, etc can stop it instantly, and any melee team can just hit you once. 4. the BIGGEST use for diffuse magic is to "cloak the deep" AKA using it right when you see a mage frozen orb, and he deep freezes you and does 10% damage on his entire burst, and saves you a trinket. deep freeze would break zen meditation instantly.
All my macros are in my forum PvP guide. I will be making a big update on it soon as season 15 progresses. I can't really tell how much has changed from last season at this point. You can find the macros here: eu.battle.net/wow/en/forum/topic/8427082665
Lightning Wind Walker lol sry for the question, only watched the first half, i was on the go so i didnt hav much time, thanks again for the responce dude
Thanks a lot! Making some good progress on "Lightning 1" today. ALMOST done with the first song! :DD BG montage video later today maybe? IDK i'll see what I can do :p
No we don't. It makes us do zero damage, and most of the time people won't be hitting you anyways. Even if they are the 25% dodge is not something you want to actively seek, there are plenty of other defensives that monks have. Sitting a full 8 seconds doing zero damage is extremely detrimental, especially in arenas
Monks have one of the worst talent trees because it is totally cookie cutter for every spec. Same glyphs, same talents, every time. WoD expansion made to changes to them and the 100 talents are also cookie cutter.
I dont get the point of these videos, yes its helpful but it all stems back to WoW players that don't read there shit. Learn ur class, then good 2 go :) that easy
I have lived in the US for 6 years - I moved here from the UK when I was 11. That has probably affected my accent so I will probably never sound English or American - but probably something in between. And people enjoy things and learn in a different way. Everything I know about WWmonk was self taught, I watched no guides, I watched no streams, I just played arena and figured it out etc. I also don't really watch youtube PvP videos the kind that I make, I prefer making them to watching them to be honest. I know that a lot of people like referencing guides and watching other people play to learn, why do you think there are so many people watching streams? I'm just here to provide high rated WW content - the likes of that is rarely seen on youtube - to those who are interested in watching it
They are hella bursty. Right after they get their tiger brew buff after getting ten of em and uses tiger palm and rising sun kick and having RJW, their fists of fury literally takes down like 350k...
50k views hype? :D
anyways I'll probably be making a new guide soon. This one was outdated and in all honesty, poorly done. I just kinda yolo'd and did it off the top of my head in 30 mins without preparation. I'll take some time to make a proper one soon :)
Excellent guide. Thanks! I just started my monk with the 90 boost and this was extremely helpful!
I loved the "Go ham niggy" notification when you had your stacks up haha!
Epic video though, not many decent Monk guides around, keep up the good work! :)
Great guide mate, I was thinking of boosting a monk and you just helped me make my mind up, subbed!
@ mic volume comments. I know it is low and there is nothing I can do about it at this point. I can't really go back in time and put the volume up. also i realize my gems and boots is wrong xD waiting for prideful one and got wrong wrists off celestial so just keeping them for a while
Why would you get the weapon chain? You can just disarm them to steal a weapon back.
A trick to not get your jabbed disarmed so you can still do your main abilities is to get the minor glyph that makes you jab with your fists it's rlly helpful and I hope this helped u c:
Great guide, I appreciate it. Monk is the only class I have never played and this is an excellent starter guide. Good work.
Thank you :)
where you find (tyrannical meta gem) ?
Thank you for the help i'm really new in pvp this helped me alot. its funny i saw you yesterday in armory and now i found you on youtube XD ty!
how do you get your rising sun kick to do 180k damage mine only does 36k even with full stacks and everything
Nice guide, cheers from Brazil!
It would be really cool if you could make a tips and tricks video for monk pvp
what was that addon that shows the buff that tiger palm gives?
(sorry bad english)
thank you for reading this :D
anylower mic volume sir?
Hello Lightning! Can you update your guide into 6.0?
i choose wich professions fo Monk WW 5.4 pliz ?
whats the new stat priority? I notice a lot of top monks are rolling with a more haste-y feeling reforge, help meh plox
haste or crit purely preference. I'm gonna do a new updated guide soon after i do some theorycrafting with it. Lighting is there anyway for you to link or write you macros in the comments or on a new video
It would be greatly appreciated
eu.battle.net/wow/en/forum/topic/8427082665
All my macros can be found here
Sorry i meant AddOns
Cool video, i like that you describe why you choose the talent, glyph etc. 1 like from here :)
I can barely hear what you're saying with my pc volume maxed out.
Where did u get those transmog swords, u are awesome!
Just a quick question how do monks beat a 845k warlock In a 1v1 setting cause I have seen nothing but locks being op chaos bolts hitting for like 400k and having no time to recover
karma you noob
Hunters I find are probably the most difficult to duel.
i would reccomend accension instead of chi brew
Lightning is 2.9k in 3s
i gonna ask you something... i play MoP on a private srv, yeah yeah private etc but legion is shit... i feel robbed that i bought the collector's tbh... anyway back to what i wanted to ask, can i play Monk WW with a 2h staff? i really like 2h over dual wield on monk, it's my personal opinion, and if i can, what kind of enchant should i put on it? Whats your views on Ww/Warrior/Hpaladin? How would you play it out and how well do you think it would synergise?
what would you say are the best comps for 2s and 3s for windwalker in mop?
in MOP 2s WW/Hpriest 3s WW/lock/shaman
@@LightningWindWalker thx a lot!
Best race for horde as a monk?
I hope you don't mind if i play devil's advocate, I'm jsut trying to learn. old guide. things change. perspectives change. If i was to make a new guide it wouldn't be the same
Could you tell me what GCD and RJW stands for? sorry! And good guide :)
if you still wonder GCD=global cooldown and RJW=rrushing jade wind
In what situation should I use "Rushing Jade Wind" ?
all situations. use it for your burst and any other time you have too much energy or being kited etc.
Oh boy, a monk with the blindfold transmog...how original.
Thank you, very nice vid.
Monks are great fun, but still have an image problem.
Or maybe it´s wars just being too strong right now,
so all that is left for us is 2s.
Did I just hear "you want the crane" enchant?..crane is intellect and crit..why the hell would a ww grab that and not tiger?
I misspoke probably. I meant the agility one
Hey Light, I am having trouble with keybinds. Do you move around with WASD? If yes, how do you manage to use your Paralysis keybound to 9 with Shift and Control modifiers at the same time as you move around? xD

Well, I am only 1.4k atm, hoping to find a nice healer team mate and go for some higher, been 1,75k though :)
Hi Lightning, thanks for a great video. Do you stream on twitch or any other site?
I stream on twitch at twitch.tv/lightningww sometimes
When do you use storm, earth, fire in 5.4?
I'm by no means the best Monk or anything, but I usually use it when there's a pesky Rogue that I want to keep in combat or when someone is low on health and I want to finish them off without getting off my current target.

6% expertise? why? wasnt it should be like hit cap.. 3%?
i useing 6%+/- too because it feel like you hit more often 0% dodge and 1% parry for 90chars is pretty good
Light, if i may why use diffuse magic when you can just use zenmeditation? It does nearly the same thing and most casters wont get close enough quicker to break zenmeditation. I like your intro it really cool.
I love you
Take Us BACK TO MOP :(((((((

Thanks! :)
We want to be disarmed... monks gain 25% dodge when disarmed thanks to Adaption.

I dont get the point of these videos, yes its helpful but it all stems back to WoW players that don't read there shit. Learn ur class, then good 2 go :) that easy
and no offence but your accent sounds fake : / haha

Well thank you, and yes it is a tad american now that you mention it.
LOL "monks damage is very bursty, like your sustained damage is not really that high" go play pve and see how monks play
I don't know or care about pve. There is a reason this is a "pvp" guide and I'm pretty sure I know what i'm talking about with regards to pvp.
They are hella bursty. Right after they get their tiger brew buff after getting ten of em and uses tiger palm and rising sun kick and having RJW, their fists of fury literally takes down like 350k...
PVE is stupid as shit....
This video is crazy quiet.
