A suggestion to make llife easier, attach the crimper to a piece of 2"x6" by 18" long piece of lumber using the two "ears" on the side of the crimer. That will keep it stable, upright and you can give it a really good whack. BTW, I use a 4Lb /1.8Kg sledge, works a treat.
I used a vice attached to my work bench.... simple to place the crimper and then the wire/connector then crank the vice until desired crimp is attained. place the connector in the crimper then crimper into the vice then add wire hold wire in place with one hand while cranking vice.
