So different from my first visit in March 1962! Much of the road was single track, very tight hairpins and apex gradients! Only small coaches allowed, had to reverse back to get round curves! Hitched a lift back to Pto Pollensa on back of an old Lambretta, interesting! Roger in Spain 76. Well done to you once again

Tip, when you don't want to ride over the mountains on your way back: There is a ferry from Platya Formentor to Port de Pollenca, which conveniantly skips the climb 😁

The roads have improved since I last rode this route and the road surface in the tunnel has improved immensley and it has also been lined because last time water was dropping form the roof. Keep up the good work.

Nice! I get my hire bike at 9am when I get there at Pollensa in a week or so, so plan to use the first day to "acclimatise" by doing either a jaunt to the La Victoria area past Alcudia and maybe go up Sa Batalla, but away from pressure points like this and Sa Calobra , can also get the bike fit dialled...But from Pollensa will do Cap Formentor hopefully with a 6-7am start as the sun rises, as the road isn't shut to cars etc until the day after I leave! (I may take some lights, was wondering in seriousness about a night ride up there to catch the sunrise from the lighthouse! No idea if they shut the road at dark though??)

10 deg C is exactly 50F by the way. A little quirk of English-Metric conversions. More comments after I've seen it all. So there was a payphone at the lighthouse then? With all those cars, it would be temping to grab hold of one and get towed for a bit! Ever seen "Breaking Away"? I was riding this morning and it would of been so easy to do that with this one little pick-up truck from a light, just at my last two miles or so. One thing with all the traffic, cars, and people, you aren't going to get stranded someplace if you had a mechanical breakdown or accident. Someone would give you a lift even if you assumed 98% are overly self-centered pricks. The views looked very nice and I think the cooler temps might of been appreciated on the climbs there. Pizza, I do love it. And I've been back to those after self-denying it from last fall to March. Still haven't made my own again yet, just frozen. Lately I've been hitting early mornings between around 5:40 and 6:10, with the temps hovering at the same 50 degrees F. Had an awesome one today. Felt so strong on the bike, and with all the climbs, I felt like I could just go on and on. Did roundabouts twenty miles today.

    • @jollygoodvelo

@@jollygoodvelo Well, that looked like that was where everyone showed up for an end point and scenic view, and you said you had to call someone for a lift last time also. Why wouldn't there be? But really, I know you wouldn't go anywhere or do anything without your cell phone, so I was just making fun halfway. Halfway not since I'd expect there to be one to use if I needed to make a call. They are really supposed to have those in place for people to use. Ripping them all out is stupid in the extreme.
