You missed the best one, you can carry a USB memory stick (Or USB 3.0 Portable HDD) around and simply plug it in to your phone allowing you to increase your storage exponentially and play your entire movie or music collection on the go :) This can also be used to backup /move video and ensure you have lots of space left on your phone.
On an S8+ (not rooted), I can plug any USBC device and it just works and any USB/Micro-USB device via the adapters that came with it, no need to root anything.
But you have to use that clunky adapter; THAT'S THE POINT! My S5 didn't need this stupid adaptor which is a pain to keep up with! Samsung did us dirty by disabling the ability to have OTG without any extra hardware.
And you can get USB-C thumb drives (some laptops also accept them these days) which plug straight in, USB-C has the advantage of plugging in either way.
I used Samsung Smart Switch with my laptop to backup my old phone before I had to give it back (leased) and when I got home used Smart Switch to put everything on my new phone. It even transferred every downloaded app.
Save you 7 minutes: 1. Charge another device 2. Use an external microphone (OpenCamera app) 3. Use an external keyboard and mouse 4. Use a game controller 5. Control a camera (DSLR Controller app)
I honestly liked and subscribe because you're not yelling at me like most RUclipsrs. You're very calm and collected and a little humor. And I love how you said like And subscribe if you can all of us RUclipsrs say all the time but it helps. Basically I'm saying you didn't beg me you just kept it cordial. LOL
Jeremy Judkins dude I don't say this a lot as I am in communications department in a leading advertising agency (we can sell anything) your dialog delivery and timing in near perfect for one thing. "TRUST" Keep up the good work. The world will TRUST whatever you say pretty soon man.
Jeremy Judkins i cant find the air gesture on this Galaxy s8+ ... im trying to use youtube and use the air gesture to see what's ahead of the video without toching the screen... can u help me
You've quite literally saved my bank account for this! Dropped my phone, my touch screen became unresponsive in the center and I couldn't enter my security pattern. Saw this video, plugged in my mouse to the dongle and voila!! Thank you sooooo much!!
I hate these videos that make this adapter out to be a great thing! Up through the Galaxy S5 you didn't need a clunky adapter; you plug a micro-USB thumb drive in and it just worked! Samsung took a GIANT step backward on the S6 - S8! What stinks is that if you root your phone you can reactivate this feature; Samsung has betrayed us all

I use mine to connect my card reader. Not great for batch editing but if there's just one or two photos to edit then it's a quick work around and means you don't have to drag a full laptop around with you
braheim rush iMessage and FaceTime. That's what hold me back. Well- and my backlog of apps And it's been a while since I've owned an android- but the apps just weren't developed as well. Chris Perry but they make the same FUCKING phone every year are you serious..no new features and the features they do make are fucking pointless 😂😂😂them bs ear buds ain't last ah month..like I said nothing new..same phone different number
braheim rush hey man - I get it. But some of what you said is wrong though. They do adopt behind other platforms- but I like a lot of what they do. And the EarPods are great. I wash them in my pocket it all the time- and they never die. They just get clean. They do stagnate for sure but also some of the new features are great for me even when they seam gimmicky i.e. Force touch. I use it all the time for sliding my keyboard around and switching apps. Like hundreds of times a week. Even the Touch ID sensor (fingerprint) I thought was a gimmick but turned out to be a good one. I understand the hate for Apple- I really do- But it really doesn't suck.
braheim rush also that's why I didn't get an iPhone 7. That one really is pretty much the same phone. At least it's water resistant though- good news is any phone I get from here on out will have that feature. I know the galaxy has been for a while. I'm really not interested in discussing who did it first- I'm more concerned with who does it best.
DSLR Controller is only for Canon cameras and does not support raw videos from Magic Lantern, but for the rest, photos or normal videos, it makes a high quality field monitor.
You can also cure cancer with the dongle. Insert dongle into skin, download antivirus, insert cable into dongle and transfer the antivirus into the dongle
Works great! Screen mirrored to my tv and used the controller absolutely incredible! Plus you can use the mouse on the screen. Once you've used it you can't do without. If it ever. Breaks I'll have to get another!!!! Thanks
Jeremy Judkins Please reply, i've got a very badly damaged an cracked screen on my Samsung S8+, idk if this is the same design, but if i buy a dongle could i then use a wireless mouse and it would work on my screen?
YES....!!! I was about to comment about that too..... It makes me so upset.... I can't believe people are so dumb... You can destroy the usb connector like that.... Not even my 10 year old son doesn't that.. It looks like he loves holding sticks...
You can probably use it with other peripherals like a USB CD or DVD read/writer and you can get a USB to LAN adapter and connect directly to a hotel LAN if they try to charge you for Wifi access.
Eyad Almohaisi yeah this is great too. I can download my movies or whatever and save them to a thumb drive and just plug and play them on my phone instead of using storage on my s8! It's great
Great video, is there a way you can hook up the OTG dongle then plug some kind of dual USB splitter into it. One side for data etc and one side for charging so your getting power while working your setup.
all this i done it since my n7100 note 2 with s7 edge i can manage my 1t hard drive files .. copy and move .. backup my files etc.. .. sadly you can't do this even with iphone 7+ or higher 😀 and they keep saying iphone is better than Android devices
blackice273 We have similar utilities on Android dummy. However that is useless if you're out of reception. That's not the only thing the OTG port is good for either though. Android OEMs give us OPTIONS! Thats why people have ditched HTC, because there are other options when an OEM does something shit. We don't have to do it the way one company tells us to. BTW Why are you on this video if you love Apple so much?
the iPhone is always playing catchup; they STILL don't have wireless charging or microUSB support! My old S5 had 4K video & a better screen than the newest iPhone.
Jim Britt lol, the newest Android phones don't have MicroUSB either, they have something better though, USB-C... Also screen resolution isn't everything but Samsung do currently have the best display on a smartphone thanks to AMOLED, supposedly the next iPhone will have AMOLED too which will be interesting...
Great video of OTG hacks. Thanks man! It might be better if you include an experiment of what will happen to the end of the "infinite charging". And the camera might be too close?
I didn't really found it useful until I bought the latest MacBook Pro. Saved my life as I was rushing to a meeting and needed to get some docs from a flash drive. Dammit Samsung! You're the best

tbh I admire both companies for pushing the envelope. Both Android and Apple has gone so far now that I admit iPhone 7 Plus is a great phone (while previously I feel Android is far superior for my needs). However when it comes to features and what one wants in a phone both can differ greatly. For me, personally I like a phone that one day can replace my laptop and tablet and Google (and Microsoft and Samsung) has been working hard to make that happen. Even though Google's project Ara might be an expensive mishap, most of our tech has been designed to be modular such as the inclusion of dongles and cases and wireless capabilities (for bluetooth speakers) that Project Ara might not be even financially worthwile of developing. In fact, our tech has been more modular than ever. Somehow though, Microsoft hasnt been including USB Type-C peripherals onto their Surface line-up though I enjoy using their products and thunderbolt 3 is very crucial for future-proofing devices.
There is a thing called the Apple Lightning to USB 3 Camera Adapter which lets you connect sd card readers, keyboards, microphones, cameras, USB hubs, Ethernet adapters, MIDi interfaces and much more to your iOS devices.
I've been using the Galaxy S7 for the last month and a half and while there are many things I like, I can't wait to get back on the iPhone. the overall experience is so much more consistent.
Jeremy, brother... I know you did this video a year ago. But it is still very informative. As I did not know what that piece was for and didn't think to care for it and lost it. But let me tell you; I Sooooo could of and still can use it as you've made a HUGE light to it's usage. I will buy me that piece ASAP. So that you SOOOO much for your time and sharing your findings with us. I applaud ya, Good stuff man👍. Keep up the good Vids. I am a fan and a subscriber. Appreciate ya brother✌.
I did, a Transcend StoreJet 25MC.. it has a usb-c connector which i tried to connect directly to phone but it asked me to format the drive and i got scared and removed the cable! Basically, it might work but since i don't have a spare memory to save my stuff from drive, i gave up!
Some phones will work with an external drive with no format, some require a 3rd party app. Most work with a drive formatted in FAT or exFAT, NTFS usually requires another app to interact but it's not hard to find them free on Google.
Ive used an otg cable mostly for gaming with an xbox 360 controller, but flash drives, a keyboard, a microphone, and a super high end usb dac for high end music on the go are also great ideas
I just found this adapter in the box from when I bought my S8 6 months ago. It's an awesome adapter that opens up so many possibilities. here are some that I thought of. 1. you can connect an external USB hard drive to your phone and run an automatic backup at night and backup your data on the phone. 2. connect other devices like old phones and get data like photos and videos off them 3. connect a USB printer and/or scanner to print and scan documents or photos. 4. you can also connect a USB speaker system 5. basically any USB device that you plug into the computer you can try on the phone. Good Luck!
I just found another helpful use and it just might be the best one yet... 6. Plug your hash oil vape pen into phone for an emergency charge so you can rip milky hits of hash oil.
***** lol He's a really nice RUclipsr tho. You could tell he does it for the joy. A lot of these RUclipsrs just takes one another's ideas. Jeremy keeps it creative. Just when you think everything's been done he does it
Keyboard controllers for music apps work quite well. And this single works on just about every Android device I have tried it with. I was previously using the adapter from the S7. Sometimes with a Micro USB to USB C adapter.
We've been using the DSLR Controller software for controlling our cameras when on a SteadiCam or crane(mini version of each). It's been an amazing software also useful as a Dir-monitor. We use it wireless with a wireless router but usb works great. I've been using the S8+ to film in part a series I'm producing "SolitaryMan" and the dongle makes it possible to plug in a quality shotgun mic. Excellent video and thanks.
What about hardwire internet connection? I'm talking about Ethernet to USB. Android 6.0 and up supports USB to Ethernet. You have to enable it in developer options. Under USB options.
Hi Jeremy, Great Vid! So here's a question: Can I use that Open Camera App to capture line in auxiliary sound via the headphone jack? I record live acoustic performance and it would be nice to run the sound straight from the mixer via 2 RCAs to a 1/4" headphone input? I'm using the phone mic right now and it's not great.
I wonder if the last hack would work with an Olympus em5 mk1? 🤔 You can also hook up a desktop hdd to your phone. But the system currently tops out at 1.6tb. I used an externally powered enclosure though. 😑
The last one was very usefull one. I am a beginner RUclipsr and was trying to find a way to have a monitor to my camera. Thank you for sharing this hack
You can also plug in regular webcam like Logitech c920, or an external hard drive/flash drive. Or a USB hub to run multiple devices. I've done all those with my s7. PS4 controller does not work on my phone though, Xbox one will.
Usually one device is the "host" device, that will be the power supply for the other device, and the other device will be the accessory device, so you can explore its files, but not the other way around.
It wont be until both batteries are equal. Its not like water flow. Normal usb work at 5v aka there is a boost convertor inside. You could charge ur i phone until battery completely dies
Hi, Do you know how to change the message display in the S8? My paragraphs get broken into message boxes instead of the whole paragraph like my S5 did.
Im glad to see that they put an otg accessory in it you can also plug USB drives into it for more memory space I have one that's an actual cable and it's great for watching movies and what not without having to fill up your phone storage or SD card (my phone right now doesn't have an SD card slot ;-;) bit I'm getting the S8+ Tomorrow hopefully
I use one that came with my s7 edge and I mainly use it to connect usb storage devices. instead of swapping out sd cards, just plug in the dongle with a 64gb usb and no more storage worries. if you take lots of videos and photos this is a huge help.
Duuuuuuuude, you totally helped with the tip on the usb mic. I was wondering why my camera couldn't pick it up. Open camera worked just fine. Thanks a lot. Liked and sub'ed.
Hi, those were pretty cool! I have one problem though, my SGS8 box with EVERYTHING BUT my charging cord and phone, were lost with my bags because of greyhound! 😓
hey what app or anything you recommend to screen mirror into your computer because the "connect" app it comes with its terrible. im looking for anything that works smiliar to sidesync. im using the galaxy note 9

I thought I just explained that many thumb drives now come with USB-C which don't need adaptors...
What kind of parties do you go too ?

Dongle parties!!! they play with there dongles
Chris P that sounded dirty

XCALI3UR i agree rofl

dont worry apple fans. you still can control your mind using your ilie.
You can even use this for printing to a USB printer. ( yes i know it's old fashion not having a wifi printer, but i only print once a month)
wow how did you manage to figure that out? lol
I was wondering that. Thanks for the tip. I find alot of stuff on my phone that I need to print out
How? What app did you use?. Been trying. Can't seem to do it
now thats a very helpful advise! thanks for sharing!
Oooo Why didnt I think of this lol!!!
I love the fact that you're not doing retakes but rather you're being natural in your videos. Mistakes and all
This is why I love Samsung.
Nєxσ 90% of the newer android devices can do this though, not just samsung, my lenovo tablet can do this aswell
Nєxσ True, I like that Samsung supplies us with OTG adapters though so I don't have to look for one in store
Noah R Yeah, I'll be trading my iPhone 6s for the S8+
Nєxσ me too soon
Nєxσ every Android phone does this dude
I used Samsung Smart Switch with my laptop to backup my old phone before I had to give it back (leased) and when I got home used Smart Switch to put everything on my new phone. It even transferred every downloaded app.

you forget the most important thing, it can charge itself!
disapointed I didn't see this earlier -_-
Can you hook up a usb interface?
umby24 can u connect usb drive to it?
Yea but hes funny

You've quite literally saved my bank account for this! Dropped my phone, my touch screen became unresponsive in the center and I couldn't enter my security pattern. Saw this video, plugged in my mouse to the dongle and voila!! Thank you sooooo much!!
Cool stuff. the first minute of this would have saved me a day of frustration. had I seen it two days ago.
Thanks again from an old guy.
I hate these videos that make this adapter out to be a great thing!
Up through the Galaxy S5 you didn't need a clunky adapter; you plug a micro-USB thumb drive in and it just worked!
Samsung took a GIANT step backward on the S6 - S8!
What stinks is that if you root your phone you can reactivate this feature; Samsung has betrayed us all
Old like wines?
You actually get this adapter since galaxy s6 edge plus ;)
You can use your otg adapter for:
Dvd/CD drive
Zip/Jaz USB drive
pc hard drive up to 1tb
Connecting external sound card
Connecting wlan dongle
kill your phone with USB killer
Card reader
Updating firmware on your Samsung smart TV
Use legato cam link (requires Open Camera)
Mirror your screen to the main screen on Tesla model S ;)
I had no idea what that thing was... But now I know and now I can move all my stuff from my iPhone to my new gs8plus. Much appreciated!
have fun!
I just got this phone and you have opened my eyes to unforeseen wonders!!
you can also save and transfer files using a flash drive just us the my files app and you should see your stuff
Gonzalo Bula pretty awesome to be able to do that.
Gonzalo Bula awesome
Gonzalo Bula yep probably the most useful part that he failed to mention
will I be able to download a file and transfer it into the flash drive
Jonathan Tait ya it pretty much does it like a computer would you can, download whatever and put it in there
I use mine to connect my card reader. Not great for batch editing but if there's just one or two photos to edit then it's a quick work around and means you don't have to drag a full laptop around with you

Great video! Just one question.... can you hook your phone to your tv using the "dongel"
I actually use it almost on weekly basis to transfer files from a USB...so nice of Samsung to give us this adapter !
The last "trick" that you talked about it. Can I be charging my smarphone and be conected to the dslr camera at the same time?
At 3:53 we can see your YouPorn app bro...
I must admit, I also use it...
LMAOOOO. That is yellow pages.
Yp gracias
You can probably use it with other peripherals like a USB CD or DVD read/writer and you can get a USB to LAN adapter and connect directly to a hotel LAN if they try to charge you for Wifi access.
How can you forget using a USB as a source of external storage 🙆♂️
Eyad Almohaisi yeah this is great too. I can download my movies or whatever and save them to a thumb drive and just plug and play them on my phone instead of using storage on my s8! It's great
wow smart idea :O
Omg soooo many cool things I had no idea of. I honestly thought it was solely for old charge cables. Love the wireless keyboard option. Thanks

i know its bad to hold the dongle but i don't mind
Jeremy Judkins I wouldn't recommend it but the USB-C port is pretty tough.

Looks like 644 are iPhone users 😃
I have one but this vid was lame
From this big useful list that the conflits can do, how many of these features can the iPhone do, with comparable lightning adaptors?
for the otg connector if I connect my PS4 remote do I have to do something in the settings or I can start playing any game the moment I connect it

I did, a Transcend StoreJet 25MC.. it has a usb-c connector which i tried to connect directly to phone but it asked me to format the drive and i got scared and removed the cable! Basically, it might work but since i don't have a spare memory to save my stuff from drive, i gave up!
i have and it totally worked
Some phones will work with an external drive with no format, some require a 3rd party app. Most work with a drive formatted in FAT or exFAT, NTFS usually requires another app to interact but it's not hard to find them free on Google.
I have a 1tb harddisk it works fine it will have to format first but works fine
Ive used an otg cable mostly for gaming with an xbox 360 controller, but flash drives, a keyboard, a microphone, and a super high end usb dac for high end music on the go are also great ideas
Did anyone counted how many times he said the word DUNGLE!🤔🙄🤓? 🤣🤣🤣
New drinking game.
I like how ur content is natural an not so perfect yet very informative makes it more enjoyable definitely gonna subscribe
thanks a lot.
am I the only one who types way faster on my phone than PC keyboard?
The Legend34 I get like average 85wpm on keyboard
Kappa LOL!!! I tried to wipe the hair off my screen! 👍
The Legend34 and I blow my screen like an idiot lol
I type 430 keys per minute, there’s No way to get even remarkable close on a phone.

I just found this adapter in the box from when I bought my S8 6 months ago. It's an awesome adapter that opens up so many possibilities. here are some that I thought of.
1. you can connect an external USB hard drive to your phone and run an automatic backup at night and backup your data on the phone.
2. connect other devices like old phones and get data like photos and videos off them
3. connect a USB printer and/or scanner to print and scan documents or photos.
4. you can also connect a USB speaker system
5. basically any USB device that you plug into the computer you can try on the phone. Good Luck!
I just found another helpful use and it just might be the best one yet...
6. Plug your hash oil vape pen into phone for an emergency charge so you can rip milky hits of hash oil.
Make sure you beautiful and in focus....mmmm, make sure your in focus 😂 your funny you sounded like you hurt your own feelings 🤣
Do you know if you can hook up the old school disk drive to it? Or would be sweet to upload some old music from cds that way
sweet video
Just subbed to your channel
stfu lol
***** lol He's a really nice RUclipsr tho. You could tell he does it for the joy. A lot of these RUclipsrs just takes one another's ideas. Jeremy keeps it creative. Just when you think everything's been done he does it

Keyboard controllers for music apps work quite well. And this single works on just about every Android device I have tried it with. I was previously using the adapter from the S7. Sometimes with a Micro USB to USB C adapter.
You need to take lots of Multi vitamins.
Whose man that's awesome....didnt know my s8 could do a ton of these stuffs... thanks
What is that little thing called ? Is that a dongle or you made that up ? Not the usb one, the other one.
Dude you are awesome! I'm subscribing 😎
Prompt whether it is possible to do through OTG photos and a video directly on the USB in the smartphone?
I wonder if the last hack would work with an Olympus em5 mk1? 🤔
You can also hook up a desktop hdd to your phone. But the system currently tops out at 1.6tb. I used an externally powered enclosure though. 😑
I just got an s8+ and I have to say this is the story video I've seen on the web. Thank you.
Great review and tips! Just bought an S8+ yesterday and was super curious about that. Thanks bro!
Great video by the way. I have galaxy s9+ what cheap video cam can I use for zoom meetings?
The dongle becamwle very useful when i broke the touchscreen on my s7 and I could just keep using it as a sort of PC😂
I'm glad I kept my dongle. Thanks for sharing the cool hacks... The wireless keyboard and mouse hack I'll definitely use.
Thank you so much for this. I love my S8+ even more! Great info n demonstration.
Great video! Do you know if it supports the Nvidia Gamepad Controller?
Using the phone as a camera controller is legit the best thing here. Wish I had known about this when I had an S7
The last one was very usefull one. I am a beginner RUclipsr and was trying to find a way to have a monitor to my camera.
Thank you for sharing this hack
Still very cool, never knew you made these videos!
man you are a genius... amazing tricks and you deserve a big like
Hi dont hv the mini cable device in ur video i bought it used. Do u know were i can buy one??
Thanks
Big Bubba
@Jeremy Judkins... would I be able to use my old micro usb to hdmi adapter from my Note 3 using the "Dongle"?
Very helpful. Many thanks.
So are plural dongle - dongles or dongi ?
lol pretty sure dongles
You can also plug in regular webcam like Logitech c920, or an external hard drive/flash drive. Or a USB hub to run multiple devices. I've done all those with my s7. PS4 controller does not work on my phone though, Xbox one will.
please tell me if I can turn on s8 on camera sony a6300 as an external monitor over that OTG thank you
Usually one device is the "host" device, that will be the power supply for the other device, and the other device will be the accessory device, so you can explore its files, but not the other way around.
It wont be until both batteries are equal. Its not like water flow. Normal usb work at 5v aka there is a boost convertor inside. You could charge ur i phone until battery completely dies
I subbed because you’re humble and kind and not pretentious
thank you :)
That my friend is the greatest use of product I've seen. Thanks! I'm use some of the suggestion that you showed when I get home.
I watched this using screen casting so it was portal to hell ception. Great vid! No bias even though my name is also Jeremy
Liked and sub'ed.
glad to be of service.
Great video man! I just subscribed :)
Awesome! #roadto100k
Is there a way to use this monitor on another phone rather than on a DSLR? I'd love to use another phone while recording on my s9+. Thanks
You can also cast your phone to a smart TV or monitor and use the dongle options described, basically working Android PC.
