Some details about my 2nd favorite bankai in Bleach. Katen Kyokotsu has the ability to turn children games into reality, and the bankai turns theatrical plays into reality. The play follows a man (Barro) who starts sharing the pain he inflicted on someone (Shunsui), gets stricken with a disease because of guilt, jumps into a river to atone, and finally dies. However, Katen's favorite plays are tragedies, so using it brings a lot of risks to both Shunsui and his allies since a protagonist dying in tragedies is pretty common
His bankai reminds me of Dazai Osamu lol and his supposed death by drowning with Tomie. He also called her "angel of death" in one of his books, and Barro is supposed to look like a biblical angel bc of the whole yhwach parallel with jesus etc etc, Also Shunsui told him that "his hand was already taken" just like how kids involve you in a game. Tbh all of this might be completely unrelated, I haven't looked into his bankai's kanji or anything that would symbolize where Kubo got this inspiration about making a theatrical play
yeh also some bankais are just straight banned in soul society or around allies shinji being one of the others shunsui is as you can guess one too cause of the range and effect
The name in fact means something like "Suicide of the Lovers under the Black Pine" right? or I remember wrong (It's been years since I read it in the manga)?
Now you know why Ukitake told Shunsui, “You shouldn’t use your Bankai where people might see it.” Anyone nearby will get caught up in it and that’s why he waited until his allies were a safe distance away before he used it in this episode.
This episode only proves to me that I was right in choosing Shunsui as my favorite character. And his Bankai is a perfect representation of his personality: hyper-pragmatism wrapped in childishness. I have always loved how Shunsui and Katen's relationship is that of an old married couple. I wish all Zanpakutō spirits appeared when a Bankai is activated like this.

Let me explain about his Shikai and Bankai the Shikai which uses multiple children's games to defeat his opponent and the game he played is somewhat like red light and green light from squid game and his Bankai is stage play for adults, so there can also be multiple plays that he can do. Fun Facts: Kyoraku's sword is known as a zanpakutou that is difficult to control because it easily gets cranky. If she is gloomy, Katen Kyokotsu will not want to unleash her full strength. There are only three zanpakuto with dual swords. - Shunsui Kyoraku's Katen Kyokotsu - Jūshirō Ukitake's Sōgyo no Kotowari - Ichigo Kurosaki's tensa zangetsu
Lille takes the form of a biblically accurate angel (called Seraphim, I believe), fitting for a religious zealot and the one “Closest to God” as he claims. Also, Kyoraku has one of, if not, THE most versatile zanpaktou.
@StruckByBelz, Ohana first appeared during the third filler arc, the Zanpaku-to Rebellion. Her character was created by Tite Kubo and used in the manga after the filler.
Also Lille Barro design depicts the accurate Biblical angel design and he is a messenger of god and as you know Yhwach (Yahwe) is the name of God. He is also the first Sternritter who received his schrift from Yhwach and he's the leader of Yhwach's guard ( Schutzstaffel)
let me explain about his shikai and bankai the shikai which uses multiple children games to defeat his opponent and the game he played is somewhat like red light and green light from squid game and his Bankai is stage play for adults, so there can also be multiple plays that he can do. Basically if Shisui is severely damaged he can pop Bankai to stop him from dying due to the conditions of act1 so I guess that’s why he fell at the end of his bankai
so about shunsui's zampaktou is that it's really versatile, kubo confirmed that his shikai allows him to bring forth any children's game to reality and his bankai allows him to bring any japanese play into reality. So this specific bankai is called suicide theater and it's a about a couple that commits suicide. What interesting is that there are a lot of versions of his bankai we have yet to see as there are hundreds of japanese plays. Also i don't know if you remember in the zampaktou filler arc in bleach we get to see both of his zampaktou spirits where one was a child and the other was ohana which really fits his shikai and bankai where the child embodies his shikai and ohana his bankai.
Wouldn’t that also imply that his zanpakuto does not have a real name but instead has a different name evrytime? I don’t think he can do any play with his bankai.
@wholesomecup102 I think the base name is the same everytime (Katen Kyōkotsu) but the karamatsu shinju which translate to Withering Pine Lovers' Suicide is the specific play his bankai is using. So lets say he decides to use another play he will say Bankai katen kyokotsu and then the name of the play. Any who's this is just my conclusion about the name but the play part where he can use any play is confirmed by kubo so the name part I don't know how it works but as far as i can speculate this is the only way i see this working out. Who knows we might see another play in the hell arc coming up in the manga.
@@wholesomecup102We've seen people call their zanpakuto by other names and it changing their abilities. Most of the times we saw that where either incomplete bankai/shikai or Mayuri's mod bankai but Rose also has different tunes to his music based Zanpakuto each with a different name and since Kubo also confirmed it, there are a lot of previous cases that corroborate Shunsui being able to do multiple plays by just calling different names. Remember, technically his sword isn't even Katen Kyokotsu, but he still called this name to activate the bankai and it worked, so maybe having different names for Shunsui is a feature and not a bug lol.
@@gabrieldossantos1116 yeah but the downsides of this bankai is kinda harsh but reasonable, if allies are in the vicinity then they will also be forced to perform in the play so its kinda like shinji where he fight best alone. Also another thing i didn't know is that aperantly his shikai also forces those close to him to play by the rules of the game he is playing which can also be detrimental if hes fighting with other people. Also his zampaktou is kinda unreliable, he can't bring out its full power unless it's in the mood for a fight so there is that, bro all these soul reapers have so many downsides but the Quincys are playing on creative mode 💀😂
I don’t think that’s exactly how it works. Misnaming your bankai makes it weaker, not the other way around. Bankai’s with different names are an exception, not the rule (Mayuri can modify his bankai because of how he got it. Renji was too weak for his true bankai. Komamura is extremely linked to his bankai) If Shunsui had a different name everytime for his bankai that would mean: -he has multiple bankais without multiple sword spirits -more people can have multiple bankai Also, wouldn’t that also mean that there is version of the bankai he could have used to empowered the gotei 13 against Aizen (maybe a play about a group of heroes slaying beast) Also, zanpakuto’s reflect the owner. Theater plays in particular don’t have much to do with Shunsui. However, a dramatic theater play about lovers screams Shunsui. There is a lot of subtext and things that are implied (Kubo does not like to spell out things) and I could be wrong. I’m just saying having multiple bankais is against what’s been established narratively. According to the lore Katen Kyokatsu can’t be a full zanpakuto name while being a shikai.
Basically, Kyoraku's Bankai is a "theater performance act" and specifically telling a story of a tragic story, in this case, a story of a suicide love. So with his Bankai, he's inflicting damage to the target depending on the outcome of the story while he's narrating it. So in a much simpler explanation, he turned the "performance act" into reality My question is though, is Kyoraku not limited to one story or act? I mean, can he narrate a different story whenever he's activating his Bankai. If yes, then Kyoraku's Bankai is really crazy powerful and there are inifinite possibilities on it.
Shunsui’s Bankai is portrayed as a stage play called "The Tragic Love of Two Lovers." In the first act, the damage is equally divided, symbolizing the sorrow of the couple who cannot be together. In the second act, a virus breaks out, representing the male protagonist’s long-lasting sorrow and terminal illness. In the third act, both characters reduce their spiritual pressure together, symbolizing the lovers’ pact to die together (“sinju” in Japanese that specifically refers to lovers' suicides). In the fourth act, a clean break occurs, symbolizing the male protagonist’s regret halfway through his suicide, and the female protagonist kills him with her own hands.

And Ohana (his sword spirit) her real name is Katen Kyokotsu and she appeared once before in a filler arc called Zanpakuto Unknown Tales Arc along with her younger sister (not really sure if they are related) but glad too see her back and made canon! While Ohana means Flower/Beautiful, Katen refers to ''Heavenly Flower''. Ohana is a shortened term for Katen, with Ka being the Oniyomi for Flower. Shunsui called Katen as Ohana as a term of endearment. It shows the strong bond between Shunsui and his Zanpakuto spirit.
Idk if you guys remember but back in cour 2 Oh Etsu kept saying "my sword slipped right through" whenever he cut Lillie "x axis" hinting at his ability.
I am from India, and my state was tamil nadu, while shinshui saying, bodhidharma falls down, like that, am I right, that name bodhidharma was one person name, he is my state, I mean Tamilnadu, he is great fighter and doctor as well, I feel proud
[Tidbits] - Many fans have mixed feelings on Lille’s Volstanding look, however, I think it’s very fitting. Quincy obviously have biblical influence, Lille upon his transformation gains 4 pairs of wings, meaning in regards to the bible he’d be a Seraphim (Angels with 8 Wings) [Seraphim angels are primarily responsible for constantly praising and worshipping God, specifically by repeatedly proclaiming "Holy, Holy, Holy" while circling around the throne of God, signifying their intense devotion to God's holiness; their main function is to glorify God through their unceasing worship and remind others of God's sacred nature.] - Some lines are removed that better express what Shunsui Bankai feels like, it seemingly instills negative emotions conjuring a sense of darkness, dread, and despair. It’s chilling and makes even the most stubborn characters uncomfortable - Shunsui’s Bankai is a Play (A Kabuki Play to be specific) with the opponent being a performer and it’s composed of 3 Acts. A play can’t go on without its performer, therein if the enemy dies during an act, the Bankai will of course end immediately which we learned from Kubo's Kluboutside (fans likely questioned this because the title of the chapter covering his Bankai was labeled “The Theatre Suicide” so many believed his Bankai was meant to kill all participants involved) - Sidenote: Kabuki plays are about historical events and moral conflict in relationships of the heart. - Anime fans who watched the Zanpaktou Rebellion Filler actually got the opportunity to see Shunsui’s Zanpaktou Spirit a long time ago, but it’s good to see it in canon. His Zanpaktou always had an eyepatch.
If you remember back when Senjumaru unleash her bankai on Lille Barro... that foreshadowed this fight with Shunsui (shooting himself). 11:31 that was Ohana's shadow
Shunsui's Zanpakutō is one of the most fitting for any captain/character we see, both his Shikai and Bankai basically describe him as a person/character, outwardly, he is fun, but also childish in many ways, a trickster who loves to play games with his opponents, both literally and figuratively, and so his Shikai makes children's games reality, but his Bankai represents his true self, mature, calm, and deeply emotional, and that manifests itself as plays, mature and emotional plays, which is honestly why I think he has two swords, each representing his two sides, because he is so good at playing those roles when needed, a fun and chill person to be around, and a mature man with strong emotions, and of course a strong will, one of the better written characters in my opinion
TYBW bankais are so cool. Unohana,Shunsui,Yamamoto, Senjumaru, Rukia, and Renji are all top 10 for me. My favorite bankai hasnt been shown yet, sadly we are gonna have to wait till next core for it :(
Remember when y'all said you were gonna watch a couple of the Bleach filler arcs? Well Shunsui's zanpakuto right there is in the Zanpakuto Rebellion arc. That arc has most of the zanpakuto spirit designs of the shinigami. I still recommend checking it out (alongside the Reigai filler arc) perhaps after cour 3 ends.
Shunsui wields a two-spirit Zanpakuto. The reason “Ohana” said that he only plays with her once in a while is because she is the spirit that represents his Bankai powers, while the younger, slimmer one is the one who controls his shikai powers. Katen Kyokotsu is a very fickle Zanpakuto because she has to be in the mood to play or otherwise Shunsui cannot use her full powers.
Shunsui's bankai brings theatre plays to life. It isn't clear if this is the only play in his arsenal, does he have more and if he does, can he choose which play would pan out or the bankai does that automatically? We don't know. The story that was being played here was of a loving couple. One of them hurts the other, and as a result he is punished and the wounds reflect on himself. Eventually he contracts an illness out of guilt of hurting his loved one. In the end, both lovers decide to commit S by jumping in water, but one of them starts to escape having changed his mind..as a result he is punished yet again and is unable to escape. IF anyone else was nearby, they would have been caught up as well...he would have taken out almost all of his allies if they were near by so he needed them to book it. Pretty sure Ohana means "flower" in Japanese. He is just flirting with her calling her Ohana.
Not sure if you guys seen the zanpacto rebellion filler ark but pretty much everyone zanpacto forms get revealed in that filler. Also probably the best filler arc in anime. In my personal opinion.
I remember that in the manga their bankai was more terrifying but in the end I liked how they did it, it had been a while since we saw their zampakatou although in reality they are two girls, I don't know why the other one didn't appear.

Act 1: because the man hit the woman, he feels great shame as if the wounds he inflicted he can also feel them.
Act 2: the man starts feeling even worse for what he did and develops a sickness because of this great shame.
Act 3: as a way to atone the man drops into an endless ocean hoping to drown and the woman also drowns with him because she pities him.
However, the man becomes a coward, starting to swim up to the surface abandoning his promise to drown along with the woman.
Act 4: As a result of all this, the woman wanting to get rid of the man's regret and cowardness, cuts his throat
was waiting too long for this ep it's so gas
Bankai with a theatrical setting and the storyteller being the user is truly an irony.
Fun Facts: Kyoraku's sword is known as a zanpakutou that is difficult to control because it easily gets cranky. If she is gloomy, Katen Kyokotsu will not want to unleash her full strength.
There are only three zanpakuto with dual swords.
- Shunsui Kyoraku's Katen Kyokotsu
- Jūshirō Ukitake's Sōgyo no Kotowari
- Ichigo Kurosaki's tensa zangetsu
Lille takes the form of a biblically accurate angel (called Seraphim, I believe), fitting for a religious zealot and the one “Closest to God” as he claims. Also, Kyoraku has one of, if not, THE most versatile zanpaktou.
I know this gonna be a good reaction
@StruckByBelz, Ohana first appeared during the third filler arc, the Zanpaku-to Rebellion. Her character was created by Tite Kubo and used in the manga after the filler.
5:18 the silhouette effect was dope
8:39 lille opening his eye was cool
14:25 if you watched the zanpakuto filler arc thats his zanpakuto ohana
Also Lille Barro design depicts the accurate Biblical angel design and he is a messenger of god and as you know Yhwach (Yahwe) is the name of God. He is also the first Sternritter who received his schrift from Yhwach and he's the leader of Yhwach's guard ( Schutzstaffel)
One of the best Bankai’s in Bleach. Love the way they animated it with the yellow backdrop and the Japanese vocals
let me explain about his shikai and bankai the shikai which uses multiple children games to defeat his opponent and the game he played is somewhat like red light and green light from squid game and his Bankai is stage play for adults, so there can also be multiple plays that he can do. So much range for his Bankai

The best Bankai is here🔥🙏 LETSGOOO
There's more bankai on the way sir
@ know
Still waiting for the most OP Kisuke!
"This Guy is Really Lucky in Bankai Department " 😂
And starrk was wanting to see his bankai🙏🏻😭
Exactly
Katen Kyokotsu = Bones of Heavenly Blooming Madness
Karamatsu Shinjū =™Withered pine, lovers suicide
Komamura is extremely linked to his bankai)
If Shunsui had a different name everytime for his bankai that would mean:
-he has multiple bankais without multiple sword spirits
-more people can have multiple bankai
Also, wouldn’t that also mean that there is version of the bankai he could have used to empowered the gotei 13 against Aizen (maybe a play about a group of heroes slaying beast)
Also, zanpakuto’s reflect the owner.
Shunsui in his shikai has the power to bring children games into reality and in bankai he does theatre plays.
He is calling her ohana means my flower
Was waiting let’s go!
Where is peaky blinders reaction??
The voice at the end was Nemu
If you watched the Zanpakuto arc you saw her there
Tremendo episodio, el mejor de este año ❤
There's a reason why he's The New Head Captain of the 13 Court Guards.
A Bankai that is Forbidden to use!!!
Think his Bankai has multiple theaters.
Basically, Kyoraku's Bankai is a "theater performance act" and specifically telling a story of a tragic story, in this case, a story of a suicide love. So with his Bankai, he's inflicting damage to the target depending on the outcome of the story while he's narrating it. So in a much simpler explanation, he turned the "performance act" into reality
My question is though, is Kyoraku not limited to one story or act? I mean, can he narrate a different story whenever he's activating his Bankai. If yes, then Kyoraku's Bankai is really crazy powerful and there are inifinite possibilities on it.
Been waiting on this reaction 😩
This Tybw part 3 is on fire 🔥🔥 All episodes are peak
I’ll give you a hint on what characters voice was at the end. She had other dialogue in this episode…..
Shunsui’s Bankai is portrayed as a stage play called "The Tragic Love of Two Lovers."
In the first act, the damage is equally divided, symbolizing the sorrow of the couple who cannot be together.
Urahara soon😂
Shikai: Child's play
Bankai: Adult's play

The importance of watching bleach fillers.
She was in the zanpakuto rebellion arc.
Idk if you guys remember but back in cour 2 Oh Etsu kept saying "my sword slipped right through" whenever he cut Lillie "x axis" hinting at his ability.
Gotta love how creative Kubo is and Shunsui's Bankai fits him perfectly.
Yamamoto : "My Bankai wil send the heat to everybody."
Shunsui : "My Bankai will send chillsdow to everyone's spine"
Let's goooo
Lille’s power is like obito from Naruto. He can phase through any attack but the difference is as long as his eyes are open he can’t be touched
I am from India, and my state was tamil nadu, while shinshui saying, bodhidharma falls down, like that, am I right, that name bodhidharma was one person name, he is my state, I mean Tamilnadu, he is great fighter and doctor as well, I feel proud
Shunsui didn't take any more damage during his bankai. Him spitting out blood was from the wounds he had received prior to activating his bankai
[Tidbits]
- Many fans have mixed feelings on Lille’s Volstanding look, however, I think it’s very fitting. Quincy obviously have biblical influence, Lille upon his transformation gains 4 pairs of wings, meaning in regards to the bible he’d be a Seraphim (Angels with 8 Wings)
[Seraphim angels are primarily responsible for constantly praising and worshipping God, specifically by repeatedly proclaiming "Holy, Holy, Holy" while circling around the throne of God, signifying their intense devotion to God's holiness; their main function is to glorify God through their unceasing worship and remind others of God's sacred nature.]
- Some lines are removed that better express what Shunsui Bankai feels like, it seemingly instills negative emotions conjuring a sense of darkness, dread, and despair. It’s chilling and makes even the most stubborn characters uncomfortable
- Shunsui’s Bankai is a Play (A Kabuki Play to be specific) with the opponent being a performer and it’s composed of 3 Acts. A play can’t go on without its performer, therein if the enemy dies during an act, the Bankai will of course end immediately which we learned from Kubo's Kluboutside
(fans likely questioned this because the title of the chapter covering his Bankai was labeled “The Theatre Suicide” so many believed his Bankai was meant to kill all participants involved)
- Sidenote: Kabuki plays are about historical events and moral conflict in relationships of the heart.
11:31 that was Ohana's shadow
why is there weird cuts in the reaction ? shouldn't it be a cutted version from the patreon uncut version ?
if so, why it seems to be reshoots ?
I think Bleach is one of those few animes which do justice to the actual manga and even if they modify a little, they make it even better...
Shunsui Bankai is GOATED ☠️
Mel lookn gorgeous like always Button in here 🖤
I love your reaction videos!❤
I haven’t found any anime websites that have Bleach. 😢
What anime website do you use?
Voice at the end was NEMU myuri helper
TYBW bankais are so cool. Unohana,Shunsui,Yamamoto, Senjumaru, Rukia, and Renji are all top 10 for me. My favorite bankai hasnt been shown yet, sadly we are gonna have to wait till next core for it :(
Yamamoto, Shunsui and Senjumaru are my Favorite Top 3 Bleach Character because their Bankai is so Dangerous and OP..
the girl voice at the end is Nemu..Mayuri's lieutenant
Remember when y'all said you were gonna watch a couple of the Bleach filler arcs? Well Shunsui's zanpakuto right there is in the Zanpakuto Rebellion arc. That arc has most of the zanpakuto spirit designs of the shinigami. I still recommend checking it out (alongside the Reigai filler arc) perhaps after cour 3 ends.
Shunsui is like "I am sick and tired of battling people with guns! BANKAI"!!!!!
Shunsui is him 😍 the best part is, this va voiced as blackbeard in one piece and All for One in mha lmao. A total complete opposite maniac
Where do yall watch bleach tybw on and do it cost movie?
Why did you guys drop peaky blinders?
Ainz went from an undead overlord to a biblically accurate seraphim 😂
I remember that in the manga their bankai was more terrifying but in the end I liked how they did it, it had been a while since we saw their zampakatou although in reality they are two girls, I don't know why the other one didn't appear.
fun fast : Shunsui always facing gun users in combat
shikai is childrens game, next step from that, his bankai would be adults plays
You guys are late. lol. I be looking for you all on the reactions videos. Lol. I need yall to release this video early Sunday morning lol. Keep it up 👏🏾
My man is so good that he can one shot anyone with the final act💀💀💀😂...no need the drama like
screaming ..running...attacking..just one shot
The Manga would say otherwise
@@Count_Jacula yep, we should tell to he will be funny
well..... lille survive and opens a hole in shunsui chest
@@ignusthemad3150 Your right. Had been that anyone else lower _ weaker _ or normal ( considering even regular spirits aren't even regular sometimes in the verse ) regular or average strength with no hacks he would of won with that last attack.
@@AJ-kt5zoWell he's fighting someone who's immortal so idk why anime only think shunsui won lol they didn't learn after mayuri fight
Once a character says Bankai it’s a Bankai but RUclips reactors fail to understand this
You missed the he said , that he is the first Quincy to get Shrift from his Majesty
Whan you guys finish the TYBW arc, yall should look up the meaning behind the different types of bankai
The King "Kira" is gonna kill the chicken barrow😂👑🔥🔥💪😎
The voice in the end must be Nemu. The girl who is always next to Mayuri
That is his zanpakto, makes more sense if you go back and watch the filler arch when the zanpakto revolt
Nemu Poem. Next Episode probably Nemu clutches again!
6:23
"SAY LESS"
I’m waiting for Blue Lock
that was nemu's voice at the end btw
Where to watch?
Final act: 1 istant kill. Pretty scary if you Remember the crazy and no sense range of is bankai and everyone who see it are influenced.
Bro, where is Dragon Ball Daima???
Y’all skipped the Zanpakuto arc where you get to see all the zanpakuto spirits? You could have seen her first in that arc, this is her second appearance.
Imagine opponent so strong not even a character who's been on Captain level since 150yrs+ is able to defeat even with Bankai
Yes Lille Barro is very much broken.
That’s not the only surprise he has for you😅
What’s the song used in the outro guys please
the final attack is lyk smearing the quici with his snot and booger xD
If you're in the bleach universe and hear ban-kai 🥶 NGL you're cooked ☠️
In the end it was Nemu
Since it said Baby Hold Your Hand 2, I assume the voice of the poem was Nemu, although it doesn't sound like her. Maybe she got a new VA.
No. That's literally nemu va lol
