I am 60 years old and been watching RUclips videos since there was a RUclips and have NEVER made a comment. Tom Bukovac and Homeskoolin' is popping my cherry. My computer is in our main room and I've had to work at this desk every day since the Stay-at-Home order so I use headphones to not disturb my wife all day. The other day she walked by and said, "Who's your buddy talking to you from his garage? He makes you so happy!" That is why this channel is so GREAT. You really do make us feel like we're your buddies hanging out in the garage, drinking a Rolling Rock and absorbing your kernels of wisdom. I started a page in my Day-Timer (old skool) to write down the best of what you say to share with my co-workers at meetings, and I build ships for a living. You make off-hand comments about technique or give 30 second demonstrations that may be no-brainers to you, because you are gifted and have been doing it your whole life, but they are revelations to a lot of us. I am truly inspired to play more every day now, because I want to KEEP my place in the garage. You are a brilliant, fearless guitar player with a refreshing approach, you have a way of sharing ideas and techniques that make them less intimidating and FUN (remember fun?) and you are somebody that we really do want to just hang out with. There's almost 23K of us already and I am sending your link to every guitar playing buddy I know and some that don't play. You're either going to have to get a bigger garage or take us out to the fire pit. We LOVE you brother, please keep them coming!
Awesome comment 👍🏼 we share the same sentiment. Now...if we can only convince Tom to ditch the session work for other people and go out on the road solo or with Sarah since his music is what we all love so much. He could truly be a huge star I believe that. Imagine going to a Tom Bukovac concert..🤩...I’m looking forward to hopefully getting to see that one day...
During 4:40 minutes, I forgot about this crazy time we are living. I've closed my eyes, and felt peace. Thanks for that, Tom. Thanks for making our days happier.
Anyone else feel like we're sitting at the feet of a musical philosopher every time Buk posts a video? Puppy dog eyes gazing upwards as if to say 'Papa... tell us more about how we should use a diminished scale'
I was having an anxiety attack so I came to RUclips to find something to calm my nerves. The opening playing was awesome. It was calming me down so fast that I fell asleep. Thank you.
That intro itself is a 4 min ear candy , such a beautiful tune/jam , need a CD full of it . It sounds so emotional but somehow takes your worries away for the 4 mins just diving in ... cheers from Malaysia
Thanks Tom, love all the Yes! Back in the old days we used to sit at the local big music shop all afternoon on Saturdays and lift licks from older players..those days are gone..
Tom, I watched one of your videos a couple weeks back (led here by Schull, who I learned about from Beato). I'm not a guitar player, just a life-long "garage band" drummer and music lover. I think I've watched most of your videos by now. Your talent, knowledge, personality, and ability to communicate are much appreciated. It's not just guitar players who value your channel!

I remember way back in the late 70's Eric Johnson describing his learning of the guitar as an exploration or process of discovery - similar to as you are saying. He described his progress as the lifting of veils as the guitar slowly gave up its mysteries - or something like that.
Damn brother you are just an alien. soo gooood! Each video I watch, no matter the order I watch them in, It is like a total new creative voice in each. It is endless.Wow I am baked and I just woke up playing guitar notes and bends along with this video. He makes a great band:)
Hi Tom. Greetings from Copenhagen, Denmark. I am an old dude from 1967, been listening and enjoying your shows since the beginning. Started playing again this Christmas after 25 years break because my dear brother bought me a guitar for Christmas. I gave it up back then because I bored my self always playing the same stuff. I was nearly falling into that pit hole again until you showed up. Grateful for that. Now I am playing almost everyday, having greater fun with it than ever. Thanks
The late great Howard Roberts said “ put your hands on the guitar where you don’t think they could or should go”. An earlier generation’s testimony to your recommendation to explore! Thanks Tom, it’s a daily deliverance from the mundane😎
Thanks Tom for another great video , truly appreciated ,many greetings from Croatia ,give us a demo of that Sunn colloseum with some Leslie west type riffage. We must hear it ,we must
Im lovin this ! Everynite cant wait to see what youve put up each day im so gonna miss this homeskoolin foolin 😔 Your an inspiration Tom thank you .... Were diggin you here in the uk 👏👏👏 keep you and your family safe man 👊🎵🔊
Hey Tom, your clips with the E-Bow and your talks and performances of Genesis material, ( the one with Sarah knocked me out ) have brought me back to the mid 70's and the 1st times hearing Carpet Crawlers from the LLDOB. For years and years, I wondered how Steve got those haunting sounds. I often thought it was some kind of complicated studio trickery. I'm a drummer who's always been obsessed with the guitar and I, like many, look forward to your daily visits. The insights you've shared....and the genuine way that you deliver the message, is very cool. Please ask Sarah to do another clip with you...Big Thanks!
Just watched this episode. Have had an ebow for years. Now I have to go on a search for it in a box in my garage for some re-exploration. Congratulations, your channel is making all of us stretch our guitar wings.
What’s crazy is how there is absolutely nothing cliché in your playing...every note sounds intentional and completely married to the sound and direction of the songs and grooves you play. It’s so awesome to watch how organically it just happens...before your eyes.
I finally caught up after watching all of the past videos. Tom, you’ve inspired me to approach the guitar in new ways. It’s what I’ve needed to progress as a player. I appreciate that. I dig your videos, man.
Loved the ambient chill vibe to today's show. What I love about your playing Tom is that you sound just as good with a naked sound as you do with effects. That's rare stuff these days. As a player for 35 years I'm learning stuff from every video. The E-bow tips were really helpful this time. Keep it up, man - thanks.
Tom, all I can say is thank you for your real and honest love of the guitar. It is a honest and raw truth that speaks to anyone that has ever tried to tap into that space where concept and vision come together and you create a beautiful connection to sound and emotion.
Tom I am writing from the past, I’m on vol 11, taking my time to absorb all the wonderful insights you’re sharing. I can only echo everyone else’s comments but it has struck me you have created an unintentional legacy. This will be hopefully here forever as a resource up there with Danny Gatton’s videos, Bert Weedon’s book or any other cornerstone foundation that has inspired a generation of players old and new. Deep, inspiring, encouraging, fun. Thank you
When I watch these I'm usually getting up in the morning or getting home from work and doin stuff while listening.. If something you say or play intrigues me I come take a look and continue doing things. I feel like I am just hanging out with you chatting in depth detailed guitar intricacies that I thoroughly enjoy. You are doing so much good with these videos. Cheers! 🍻
I feel like when I watch your left hand I can sometimes spot your mind trying to decide what note to go to next, but by the time you hit the note, it’s all seamless and flows as if there was no hesitation. Great videos Tom, thanks for helping re-ignite my love for the instrument. My playing was starting to feel dull to me but now I’m getting another fresh breath to run with.
I've watched every video, some 3 or 4 times, and I'm still amazed. Some people can do things others cannot, and I enjoy watching those that can do what amazes us.
Hey Tom, Eddie Haddad was talking about you on the most recent No Guitar Is Safe podcast hosted by Jude Gold!!! Have a good weekend and thank you for the information, inspiration, wisdom and laughs.
What a great Friday treat. Some jams to close your eyes to and float away. I've never seen the working end of an ebow up close. I always imagined they had a wheel of some kind to create the sound. Have a great weekend!
Man, I was turned onto your channel by another youtuber and as soon as I hear how you play, your words immediately became more powerful. You said once people “play like their personality”. I’m taking what you said to heart and I’m now working on my shitty personality. You just speak from so much experience and I respect you for it.
Tom... So thankful that I came across your channel. I appreciate you, man. Thanks for the nuggets. I'm sure you are aware of Guthrie Trapp down there in Nashville... different players but I appreciate you both. Down to earth, humble guys with great skills and the willingness and ability to share knowledge. Thanks!
ONce again you have terrific guitar. also a great guitar. Thanks for your time and sharing you knowledge. I like the stories too. I watched some of the 2017 walsh clips with you. Very good.
Hey Tom. This reminds me of what a wonderful world we live in, even while this stupid virus is going on, nature keeps on going. So down to “Earth” is this piece of playing. Love it and Thank You once again.
It was Rhett Shull who advised his viewers to check out this channel on one of his recent videos. I'm glad that I sat through that one. Tom, your words have been eye-opening. The experience is sort of like the first time I came across Alan Watts, but in a musical kinda way. Salute!
Tom barely had a couple thousand subscribers 8 weeks ago. This intro is only the tip of the iceberg which is why he now has 22k subs. More than that he's so cool. Brilliant human being!
I preferred this channel when it was just our little community before those jackasses at RUclips decided it was ok to interrupt uncle Larrys’ advice with BS advertising mid sentence! Won’t stop me watching and trying to soak up as much as I can though. Thanks for taking the time to share your wisdom Tom and congratulations on growing the channel to the level that the bean counters are now interested
Hey Tom, I'm a bit late to the party but was recommended by someone who says he's a friend of yours, Rhett Shull, he told me to check you out. I only started watching You a few days ago and I've been playing catch-up to this point. I'm 68 years old and have been playing guitar for about fifty years now off and on. I say off and on because there's been some big gaps in my playing. One of the gaps is about 20 years. Now that's not to say I didn't play it all for 20 years but just about if you child picking it up every six months and noodling around and then putting it back in the case for another 6 months. I was pretty good at one time and played solo just me and my acoustic guitar in bars or pizza joints or anywhere that people would let me play even if it was for free because I loved it that much. I've been married twice and I made some bad decisions.. the one thing I want to throw out there for anyone that's listening is that if you're a musician and you marry someone who's not, life can be very difficult. You're so blessed to have someone in your life that is in the same business you're in. God bless you and Sarah
Hey Tom, greetings from Johannesburg, South Africa! Thanks for the great tips n bits, but most of all thank you for putting me onto Steve Howe! Amazing music!
The intro is so horribly beautiful, it made me shamelessly cry thinking of the little I am and how I am proud of the little my life is. God bless your semitone dissonances, man.
Love the channel, love the lessons. As a dad, have to say I enjoy / relate to your observations on kids almost as much as the guitar & music wisdom and insight. You've gotten like 17K subs since I started watching - well deserved sir. I got my ebow b/c of the R.E.M. song "ebow the letter" and I love it but I've never actually seen anyone use one. That was awesome, thanks.
Delay/Chorus?????? both? You just inspired me beyond belief, it made my stomach get that in LOVE for the 1st time feeling, goosebumps whatever you wanna call it! Thank you soooo much!!
Wow, I forgot about the Yes Tormato album. I was a huge Yes fan in high school in the late 70s. I just went back and listened to it, and , uh, well, not sure why i liked it back then. I went to the Tormato Tour at the Forum in Inglewood, and the people behind me got up and dropped a small box in my lap. Opened it up, and it was full of joints. Can't remember much about the concert. Lol. BTW , just found your channel courtesy of Rhett Shull shout out. Loved your Rig Rundown, and subscribed.
Reading comments and it blows my mind how sincere and heartfelt everyone is. Made me tear up a bit. The online comment section has been the 3rd circle of Hell for the last few years but most here seem like they are all on the same wave. Makes me wish there were more channels like this but thats what makes this one so special. Like a diamond in a coalmine lol😊
funny. maybe this is the first time we disagree: i think „release release“ is a great song! but in the end…who cares! thx for the best youtube channel by far! itˋs like meeting a dear friend, which i probably might never meet in person - living a few thousand miles away…
if i've learned anything from watching all these homeskooln' vids is that Tom Bukovac hates Gildan t-shirts. but, i 've definitely learned a lot more than that. this series has been one of the lockdown highlights for me. thanks tom!
Great use of the EBow ! I have always been a fan of Ty Tabor of King's X and his use of an EBow. Ordered one of you shirts last week (awesome) and ordering Jedd's today. Thanks, Bryce
I wish things were not so tough in NH, I will send something when I can. I believe you rgood at this. I’m a band teacher and a working musician in Boston. I won’t miss an episode!!!!!!Thank you again!!!!
Wow, cool Melody Maker! I have one just like it, but with a Humbucker in the bridge, and a mini humbucker in the neck. I had one like it in high school, with two HBs, which I stupidly sold. Really enjoying the videos. Aloha from Hawaii, Tom.
Thanks Tom! Great stuff, I’ve been home skoolin my young ones during this time and really look forward to your videos. Keeps my head on straight.. and though I may have passed my prime time as a working guitarist, its lit a fire under my ass to get back up to speed. My first real guitar was 60’ Melody Maker. Great idea with the mini buckers!! Amazing lessons brother and take care out there. Steve in NC.
Hey Tom, I really loved the live versions of Future Times/Rejoice from the '78-'79 shows, especially the Cleveland show at the Richfield Coliseum. "Cleveland! City of light, city of Magic!"

could not agree more. Tom's down-to-earthness oozes through; mad guitar skills and humble to boot.
That's a really nice comment, sir. Warms the heart what your wife said to you. My girlfriend calls him my "manlove" haha (he is.. 😉)
same here, Only thing I subscribe to on RUclips, The Buk!
Funny. My wife refers to it as my “goin’ to church” because I’ve drawn so much inspiration from Tom.

@@misterknightowlandco it's called hyperbole for comedic effect. In all seriousness Buk's videos have been excellent during lockdown.

Tom needs to do a solo album. Even Tim Peirce took some time to release Guitarland and its a wonderful recording.
I remember way back in the late 70's Eric Johnson describing his learning of the guitar as an exploration or process of discovery - similar to as you are saying. He described his progress as the lifting of veils as the guitar slowly gave up its mysteries - or something like that.

Well you are inspiring a 62 year old pro guitar player...i told you a while back I would watch every one and I have...i thank you sir....
What’s crazy is how there is absolutely nothing cliché in your playing...every note sounds intentional and completely married to the sound and direction of the songs and grooves you play. It’s so awesome to watch how organically it just happens...before your eyes.

Damn. What haunting delight. We need a Bukovac record. I bet the class could crowd source....
Tom would have to be steering the production and no tuners. Everyone tunes by ear to the piano.
that's a fancy stapler you got there! :)
that intro was so beautiful i made my fiancé listen to it and it made her cry. 🥺❤️
I love mode 2 on an E-bow - those high harmonics are so beautiful, man. Thanks, Tom!
funny. maybe this is the first time we disagree: i think „release release“ is a great song! but in the end…who cares! thx for the best youtube channel by far! itˋs like meeting a dear friend, which i probably might never meet in person - living a few thousand miles away…
Loved that tone knob thing you did. Beautiful texture.
That intro was total badass...thank you Buk for all you do
if i've learned anything from watching all these homeskooln' vids is that Tom Bukovac hates Gildan t-shirts. but, i 've definitely learned a lot more than that. this series has been one of the lockdown highlights for me. thanks tom!
Simple chord progression, but an amazing melodic solo. Love it.
Thanks man.
I’d love to hear some classic country licks sometime and learn some. Thanks
Steve Howe is such an underrated and forgotten monster. Thanks so much for bringing his work to the forefront.
Not underrated or forgotten.
Great use of the EBow ! I have always been a fan of Ty Tabor of King's X and his use of an EBow. Ordered one of you shirts last week (awesome) and ordering Jedd's today. Thanks, Bryce
Salutations from northeast Ohio. I enjoy your show and your playing. Go Browns!
Whenever one your videos pop up tom I feel i need a cup of coffee instantly, like a pavlovian response
Some damn nice changes, Tom. Thanks for your time.
I wish things were not so tough in NH, I will send something when I can. I believe you rgood at this. I’m a band teacher and a working musician in Boston. I won’t miss an episode!!!!!!Thank you again!!!!
Jfothe2481 Good luck to you. I’m a musician in NH and I feel your pain.
man,that was beautiful...it touched me...
This is similar to stuff I play. So ambient. Beautiful. Thank you for making my day a little brighter bro.
Amazing you even own shoegazing. I would love to see you collaborate with the universe’s next David Bowie. Such precious talent can move mountains.
Absolutely brilliant content in every video, thank you Tom
Wow, cool Melody Maker! I have one just like it, but with a Humbucker in the bridge, and a mini humbucker in the neck. I had one like it in high school, with two HBs, which I stupidly sold. Really enjoying the videos. Aloha from Hawaii, Tom.
Very nice. Thanks.
Music to start the vid....very nice - love it!
Steve in NC.
awesome sounds.
Hey Tom… its raining outside my window today …. you are unknowingly providing the soundtrack for my rainy day…. thanks for that.
Hey Tom, I really loved the live versions of Future Times/Rejoice from the '78-'79 shows, especially the Cleveland show at the Richfield Coliseum. "Cleveland! City of light, city of Magic!"
Totally dig that melody maker, Tom!!!
Music 's in mighty good hands!
