Damn these came out sick. I've been thinking of distressing an old pair of my black jeans but I'm afraid they wouldn't turn out too well. This video inspired me though, might as well give it a shot!
Bilal Jaden Nah man. Distressed the knees and gave it raw hems, it was pretty easy and looks dope. And I'm not a DIY kinda guy at all. If you're thinking about it, go for it!
I watched several "how to distress denim vids and kept coming back to yours. Your technique was the easiest to try. I did a pair of my own and 3 pairs for my nephew. Thanks for posting!
About to attempt this now. I'm going to test an old pair of jeans first so I don't completely screw it up! You're the first guy I've seen do it and the first person to mention the knee cap not being a box! lol I feel more comfortable using your method! Wish me luck !
Elevated Ike I did! They came out great! I tried it on an older pair of jeans that didn't fit right, so it looked off. I then tried it on some fitted tailored slims and it turned out great! I did have to rewind and pause your video a couple times to get the method down but I did nonetheless lol. Thanks!!
this honestly the best one ive ever seen im was thinking about doing mines and was scared to mess up but ima go ahead and do it thanks bro awsome video 👌👌
+B.O.S YT That's from the way the denim is dyed. You could get the same effect by painting the threads of the distressed area with yellow watercolor paint or dye then rinsing it off.
When you cut the two lines across you just pull the vertical threads out literally. The are no longer attached to the jeans. Think about it jeans are woven in a crosshatch structure. Vertical threads intertwined with horizontal thread. So if you cut along the horizontal, the vertical threads can just be pulled off. You can use your fingers or tweezers.
1. do you need a patch, and why? 2. why do you sew sideways rather than turning the fabric? Can't this mess up your machine to just pull that way? Thanks!
+Danielle B 1. No you don't Need a patch. I was showing the other possibilities of distressing. You can sew a fabric under and have a more unique look. 2. I sewed sideways because their is no way to simply turn the fabric unless i completely took the leg apart. It didn't mess up my machine.
Great job! I'm just learning to sew bc I want to make my own clothes. I really enjoy your videos! Thumbs up and keep up the good work.. Great music, btw.
when you sewed the patches how did you not sew through both layers of pants? as in, sewing through the backside of the denim so your leg could still fit through?
I like the holes but I don't want it to show my skin can I put that black cover on all the holes and still get the same results as you got on you're jeans?
Yours is far the best distressed jeans video I've seen. The outcome is really nice.
Thank you. I hope yours turns out well.
i rubbed my knee into an skate griptape and it distressed it quite well
Yeah I use a foam sanding block. You can put creases folds into the jeans eans and and then send the edges of the creases
And your knee got distressed as well right?🤣
@@wahyuahmedrasheed8091 yes actually because like a idiot I did it to but I had it on my leg
Cause that’s how people used to distress their jeans before it became a trend

Bilal Jaden Nah man. Distressed the knees and gave it raw hems, it was pretty easy and looks dope. And I'm not a DIY kinda guy at all. If you're thinking about it, go for it!

Hack: use needle or toothpick instead of the seam stripper
Ur welcome
ThanksSSSssss
Thanks
Or a corncob skewer
It's not a fuckin hack Katy. We all will be using needle or toothpick 😑
@@sushs7991 what?
When patching, you could also use an iron on patch if you don't have a sewing machine. Just a little trick.
You should try Tear Mender
2017 this is still relevant, just did mine and they came out great. Thanks 🙏🏼
thought i was the only one who noticed the kissland music in the back XOTWOD!
this honestly the best one ive ever seen im was thinking about doing mines and was scared to mess up but ima go ahead and do it thanks bro awsome video 👌👌
+Ebeneser Morones thanks man glad it could help
your the best
Just tried it and it works! Ofcourse be very patient and gentle with the jeans
been debating on buying a sewing machine for the last 3 months lol. I need to start tapering my own jeans man!!!
TrendyiSuppose Its saves you serious money and you can even end up making your own clothes from scratch
Does it work well to somehow reshape distressing where the manufacturer made the box shaped distressing? How can I make them more natural looking?
Thank you for this video.. It worked great on my black jeans
You're welcome! Glad that it helped
Thee best tutorial ever made for this!
Very cool! Have to try this some already broken denims 👍
hey fam I've been checking some other vids on how to do this but your video was by far the best....respect cuz

+chidoriful Long johns
The waffle pattern looks good under distressed denim
chidoriful tights
chidoriful you can also use long black pantie socks, its an nice combination
Adam Sherman lol
I've seen distressed denim but the string are yellow. How do you get that affect
+B.O.S YT That's from the way the denim is dyed. You could get the same effect by painting the threads of the distressed area with yellow watercolor paint or dye then rinsing it off.
thank you so much for this video 😍😘 i had very boring jeans but now i am going to make it look much better 😉😉
This blew my mind. Great work.
Thanks
I'm digging Kissland in the background🔥
can you make another clearer vid on pulling out the vertical threads, so confused on how to pull those
When you cut the two lines across you just pull the vertical threads out literally. The are no longer attached to the jeans. Think about it jeans are woven in a crosshatch structure. Vertical threads intertwined with horizontal thread. So if you cut along the horizontal, the vertical threads can just be pulled off. You can use your fingers or tweezers.
Best distressing Video i've seen. Thanks man
1. do you need a patch, and why? 2. why do you sew sideways rather than turning the fabric? Can't this mess up your machine to just pull that way? Thanks!
+Danielle B 1. No you don't Need a patch. I was showing the other possibilities of distressing. You can sew a fabric under and have a more unique look. 2. I sewed sideways because their is no way to simply turn the fabric unless i completely took the leg apart.
It didn't mess up my machine.
aye bro in place of the seam ripper you could use like the pencil right? just anything with a point?
The seam ripper actually has a blade so it can cut through the threads. You're better off using a razor blade.
Seam rippers are inexpensive though.
I just used a damn thumb tack and got great results
I liked the way you did that it's different from what I seen but it's better in way
It takes a lot of time every time I try to do the pulling step I don't cut the line str8 and I'm pulling for hours on one section I just gave up.
This video was very helpful I could not patch it because I don’t have a sewing machine but it is still dope
this is the best titoria of denim i ever seen keep going mr elevated
The end product is really good
Put a piece of cardboard or book or something in the leg
This actually helped. I'm gonna distress a pair of black skinny jeans now.
I did this to cheap walmart Jean's they look so good now
I have made knee holes on my jeans is it possible to distress under and over the jeans? Sorry my bad english im from Denmark
I like the holes but I don't want it to show my skin can I put that black cover on all the holes and still get the same results as you got on you're jeans?
just did this, turned out sick! just follow the steps and you will be good. awsome vid thanks man :)
What else could you use instead of a seam ripper. Could you use like a Stanley knife?
outcome looks soooo good!!
how would you wash it after distressing, whenever i disyress my jeans and then machine wash + dry it always messes it up
You should wash them on a low setting and hang dry
This will also help your jeans to not fade
I need help. I got a knife and jeans so I just cut a line and pull behind it and wash it?
Does this work with, say twill denim pants as well?
Yes
hey im looking to start distressing my jeans but that little red tool you're using i can seem to find it anywhere.. any help?
It's called a seam ripper. You can get one here amzn.to/2aAYXAk

Those are tapered jeans.
Best video, definitely know what you are doing!
Thanks
Appreciate you saying that.
This was a really good tutorial! Thank you!
Bro I’m 3 years late but where do you get that thing you use to pull the strings out? Idk what it’s called 🤦🏽♂️
You can in all honesty just use a thumb tack, that's what I did
Seam puller
What’s the name of that tool you were using that almost looks like a pitch fork?
seam ripper
That turns out fire, imma try this on my jeans soon.. thank you my mane
Best denim distressing vid 🔥🔥🔥
Andrew Ortiz THANKS! Hoped it helped you man
How exactly you extract the wrap thread is unclear. Can you clarify
Wanna buy container full and bales of these old school vintage jeans to resell. Know any spots?
Can someone explain what he did after he cut, I couldn't understand whats that red lil thing and how he did it??
+Black Bird after you do the cuts take a seam ripper or sewing needle and just pluck/expose the horizontal threads
Ok, so I tried to do the knee blowout. So I have to keep exposing the threads and it will give that ripped look?? thanks for answering btw!!
yes
the knife was a tip SOOOOO AWESOME......
Great content bro. Looks like you deff know what you're doing! 🙌🏻👌🏻
Thanks for watching
Okkaayyy u killed it thanks
how long did it take you to distress it fully??? Dope diy tho
what types of shoes are the ones he is using in this video ? anyone know ?
adidasThe SL Loop Runner in Tent Green, Black, & Medium Grey Heather
I hear that kiss land in the back
AR15x l
That's so weird I was listening to kiss land right before I clicked on this video.. what are the odds that it's the background song

So my old work pants are fashionable?? Since everyone trying to make the pants look like old worn out jeans
when i started to pull at the threads, mine would break easily and look like loose strings
Very good vid. definitely the best on youtube. Keep it up!
