. I've since sold this generator last year of this upload but anyway I start it up with the electric starter and also show a bit of "startup troubles".

We had a 10 hp Yanmar in a Sailboat that would start and run backwatds. It was a trip to see. Had to make sure the engine was running in the right direction after each startup. That's what this engine was trying to do. To help with starting or to help optimize the starter you may need to pull the starter and grease the bearing bushings. This is a problem on Chineese starters of all makes. Even the automotive starters have little to no grease on the bushings. The flywheel on these and there original Yanmar from Japan is a bit light. Makes for a hard starting roll. There is a start up procedure on these you are not aware of. First you pull the cord to compression. Then you hit the decompression trigger. Then you do a strong yank. The decomp will realease after the valve cycles and the next cycle will be on the compression stroke without compression realease. If all is right the engine will startup A workaround for the starter is to pull the front cover off and add oil to the starter bushing as a minumin on the anual maintance.

You try starting it with the fuel shut off try to bleed the system first and try starting, i have promate diesel generator it can start in recoil in one pull using two hands in the recoil starter...
does anyone know where to find parts for the generator on these models, specifically the aluminum cooling fan for the generator NOT the engine

the smoke shouldn't get out from filter, your problem in valve adjustment or replacement
Looks as though you need to bleed the system and get the decompression lever to be worked on. You should not be able to keep cranking it as you do. The lever must come up after you crank it. This will happen every time you crank it.

Yup, MausolfB, ythat thing is a real turd, I have never been able to recoil start it...unfortunately it is what I have down here in the bowels of Mexico...so I am getting mine Out of mothballs because here it is hurricane season againn, it's all I have. Mine is older and came with a even smaller battery (no bueno) but I jump it with a "real'batt. I have lost the manual. It would be a terific help if you or someone could tell me the oil capacity such aas to make the job a lot easier and less messy. Thanks. Congratulations for being able to sell the PO(chinese)S. Use compression release for start and stop. All so WD40 is a good start fluid for desiel.
I got my ETQ from my boss. $200.00, though it did not start,. No problem, found a Yanmar l70 to put on it and never looked back dude. I am now working on the Clone. Fuel pump looks to have been the main culprit. No biggie, good learning experience. Good luck.
