I was stationed in the Army in 1959-60 with Elvis in Germany….he was a regular soldier and neither asked or received any special consideration despite his fame
Wow, that is really amazing! Thanks for sharing,... My mom was a huge fan and when he died, she told us all about him and we played his music a lot. Oh and she made me watch all of his movies too :) LJ
Elvis incorporated his martial arts moves into his act that was kind of what was going on in 60 eight, danced up out of the swing and the hips and all that stuff back in the early days, there's all else, but he did the old chops and pull it back and whatnot.
I believe this was on NBC & the audience were employees and people just pulled off the street. He was supposed to do Christmas at the end. Instead, he did the song " If I Can Dream" ❤

Elvis played a significant role in making the USS Arizona Memorial at Pearl Harbor a reality in the 60s. He performed a benefit concert for the memorial fund.
I was playing minor league baseball in Tennessee when Elvis passed and still remember where I was when we got the news.. It was a major blow to most of us, use kids that grew up in the 60’s were treated to 3 Elvis motion pictures in the theaters a year, 31 films total. You could do an all Elvis reaction channel he has recorded around 700 songs give or take a few depending on where you look. I Really like your channel. 🍻
I was born in '68, & not even 10 years later when Elvis died, I felt as though he & his music had been a part of my daily life for as long as I had literally been alive - he was absolutely mesmerizing, even as young as I was. ... I remember the adult females always commenting that God was really showing off when He created Elvis.
After his world-conquering fame in the 1950s and early 1960s, it's fair to say that Elvis's star was on the wane. His manager, "Colonel" Tom Parker, kept Elvis away from live performance for 7 years, and rather than going into the studio to record great albums, Elvis was churning out bad movie soundtracks for even more bad movies. So, it's fair to say that Elvis wasn't all too happy with where he was. He wanted a change, and in 1968, he got it. The clip you watched comes from the legendary 1968 Elvis Comeback TV Special. Btw, unbelievably, "Colonel" Tom Parker originally wanted Elvis to perform without any dialogue, wearing a cardigan sweater like that worn by Perry Como, in front of a fireplace and a Christmas tree, and sing 20 Christmas songs. Thank God this idea was squashed....
What's crazy the this comeback special the tv station had some very strict restrictions to how much Elvis could move , causing him to make some cray moves sitting down try look at the" one night with you" from the show but they couldn't stop him completely
I love Elvis! The the singer of Volbeat did some Elvis impersonating just as a fun piece of trivia. You can hear it come through a little in their songs. It's very rock, so it's an interesting contrast.
I was 14 years old when Elvis passed away. We had tickets to go to his concert that he was having in Memphis, TN that summer too. Anyways, many years later when I married, I soon found out that my husband was Elvis's 2nd cousin. He told me so many wonderful stories about when they were young and hung out together, but after he married Priscilla, they didn't talk much anymore. Later I had a son, and you should hear my son sing!! He has such a wonderful voice, but he refuses to sing in public, so there's that. LOL
Elvis is in 5 music halls of fames, has the best selling christmas album, had many pop number 1 hits, got 3 Grammys for his Gospel, sang semi opera, was named the 14th best country singer of all time and was the king of rock'n roll. He sang everything amazing and always addes his own style to it.
“What Now My Love” - Aloha from Hawaii Concert 1973 really shows Elvis vocal range, every song in this concert is very good. Elvis was 33 when he did the 1968 Comeback
I was a young married woman when Elvis passed away. I was at work when someone brought the news in. We all just sat there, looking at each other. The word "shocked" didn't even come close. He was at his very best in this 1968 concert. It's how I like to remember him.
I was also at work when I learned Stevie Ray Vaughan was killed in a helicopter crash. I stood up and just walked out of my job and quit right there without saying a word.
I have heard others say Elvis did the stanky leg. He started so many things, bling, Cadillacs, entourage, sideburns, pink and black outfits, jumpsuits, and on and on. He changed the whole culture and influenced so many musicians including MJ. Watch the video of E and MJ dancing to "I Gotta Feelin' in My Body". It is a good one.❤❤❤
Your opening theme song is by Thin Lizzy fronted by Phil Lynott. He was a big Elvis fan and recorded a great tribute called 'King's Call' when Elvis died. Nothing beats Elvis, and this whole 1968 TV show is awesome ❤
You have to check out the Aloha from Hawaii concert. I can remember watching it live as a child. It was aired live on TV. Best performance was American Trilogy. Amazing!
I'm older.. this man passed away when I was 10.. I will still say he's the sexiest man I've ever seen..lol.. I'm a hair band era girl.. but this man just had IT. Those cheekbones alone.. kill me.. I need a cold shower... lol

You need to react to some of Elvis' live performances. I suggest: Bridge Over Troubled Water, Suspicious Minds, You've Lost That Loving Feeling, American Trilogy, Trying to Get to You, What Now My Love, Fever, and Steamroller Blues, just to get started.
Haha! I don't think you realize just how charming, chrismatic, and funny Elvis was, looks aside. The men in the audience were part of his body guard team, no need to count 😅

The greatest!! I was fortunate enough to see him in concert not long before he died. My mom took me to see him in the Summit in Houston when I was around 11 years old. But I remember that sh:t! 😂
When I was 17 he was on tour and I wanted to go to the concert, but my parents wouldn't allow it. Then he died. Ugh, I was so upset! I was thisclose to seeing him before he passed. I remember him being a generous man. He'd just give a Caddilac away to random people. The King.
I'm old and from a musical family - My mom played piano for the Mills Brothers. I ended up playing guitar (look up Mills Brothers) and as a young teen played Jazz. Then came Elvis. Little Richard and Chuck Berry and I was off on my rock n roll adventures. Ended up doing sessions in Nashville after half a lifetime of making fun of Country.
There`s many reasons why Elvis was called "The KING OF ROCK N ROLL"! I remember exactly where I was when they came over the Radio and said Elvis had passed. The World stood still that Day! BP, you have to checkout "Kentucky Rain".
Here is a question for you. Elvis sang about 800 songs, right? So in order to be crowned king of rnr how many of those songs were rnr? Name 10% of the 800 which is 80.
@78 been to oodles of concerts of all generes. Saw Elvis twice as a young man and older after weight gain. NO ONE has or had his charisma. It was palpable.

I cried like a baby. I was a nurse in a Neonatal Unit. I came in on night shift and could hardly function because it was like burying my childhood when he died. The young nurses were like "snap out of it". They just didn't get it.
Elvis was censured for years on live TV . They learned to only film him above the waist lol. But even in 1968 although things had loosened up quite a bit he still had to hold back on the swiveling hips on TV lol
I was born in 76 but I absolutely LOVE Elvis! The KING. Been to Graceland. Its amazing. His voice....lordy, so sensual.
Late 60s and 70s Elvis is my favorite. Check out the song Way Down, it was the last single released while he was alive and went #1 of course

Saw The King perform in Pontiac MI in April 77 with my mom and Aunt Bonnie. Remember to this day.
Elvis' appearance at the Silverdome was December 31, 1975/January 1, 1976. That was Elvis' salute to America's Bicentennial.
@@reneleclerc6119 Whichever was his last appearance there. Was pretty sure it had been 77 but mom's passed and I was 9.
ELVIS DIED IN AUGUST 1977. I doubt he was in much shape to perform in that time period. He was an embarrassment at the end.
47 years ago, he passed, why he's the King, no one has even come close his talent. No one will either.
Amen
