  • Today we are talking about "What is #longcovid?"
    Long Covid is typically defined as symptoms persisting for more than 3 months after a covid-19 infection. Unfortunately for many many sufferers, it's more than just a prolongation of their infection symptoms. It's the onset of various other symptoms such as extreme exhaustion, cardiovascular, neurological, dysautonomia-like, symptoms, amongst many others.

    Very refreshing to hear someone actually explain the neurological symptoms properly. The term "brain fog" is bandied about, but it doesn't even come close to the reality of that nightmarish experience

    Dude, you explain this so well. I completely concur, especially with the description of neurological symptoms.

    One thing I have struggled with when conveying the extent of fatigue I feel is that it is beyond any fatigue I have ever felt, even after having an appendectomy. So many people attribute it to just normal fatigue. It is not. Not even close. The subtext at around 6:30 stating about the body becoming a prison is such an accurate description of Long Covid as a whole.

      I totally agree, most people have no idea that this fatigue is not being tired, it really is outside anything I had experienced before and it's not easy to convey to others.

    Thank you for producing these videos. So far they are excellent. I wanted to add one very common symptom that you did not mention: tinnitus. I was infected a year ago and developed severe PESE (and tinnitus). Last June I started experimenting with some extreme fasting regimens and it helped me resolve most of my symptoms (fasting is something you might look into and cover in a future video). However, the one symptom that persists for me is tinnitus. It is loud and very annoying. All the best!

      Yes tinnitus can also occur in Long-Covid. I for example had a very annoying tinnitus in the beginning which now has much subsided, but is still faintly there. There are many symptoms I could not cover due to time. Another which could potentially have made the cut is rashes and intolerances

    you should do a segment on Long Covid and pregnancy. There are stats out that says population growth has declined substantially in the last couple years. This is the first time i have ever heard, that a population forced to stay indoors has stats like this.

    Hello, and congratulations on your channel. Super great idea! I see you didn't mention one of the most frequently observed neurological symptoms: headaches. In several studies I've read, it's always one of the top three symptoms. In fact, I suffered long covid myself, and from the first eight symptoms I had through the first four months, nearly-daily headaches lasted for more than 18 months and still persist today! I'm just starting to feel some relief just recently... hope to find answers in your channel.

    Question: are you interested in interviewing patients who have experienced long covid? And the numerous treatments they have tried? I'd love to see these types of interviews. Thanks for the information.

    I have PESE problems. While I'm doing sports (running, cycling) everything is o.k. But next day I feel like shit. I would have headaches for days in row and GI problems - extremely bloated stomach to the point that I have difficulties breathing normally, and it get very bad if I then also eat some fermented food. It's driving me crazy. I used to feel great after sports. Not any more. And it's been going on for almost a year now...

      @longcovidontheshort  Год назад +1

      Sorry to hear about that, it really sucks... Bloating like that could be a sign of dysautonomia by the way. I didn't understand if the GI problems would also come after exercise, but if so it could be that it's flaring up some degree of dysautonomia. I would just be careful to not push it too far. Stay strong, I also really miss doing sports

      I have IBS and Long Covid has caused me to have issues to where I get so bloated that it is hard to breath as well. I really did not attribute it to Long Covid until recently. I honestly thought it was from being forced to be less active. My son just graduated from college and two days worth of activities related to that have me ill, and the bloating is here again. So yes, I too find that activity increases symptoms of issues I had previously.
