Brilliant video, yet again Ian. What a great location. I know exactly how you feel, going down cliffs - the camera never really shows how steep it is. I've had a few close calls going down the cliffs at Aldbrough lol And now we both know about the generator buildings - I didn't know what that one halfway down the cliff in my video was until the other month when a local told me.......
I used to play in these buildings when they were at the top of the cliffs in the early 70's. We used to go to the end of the road (past the Post Office and houses that went over the cliffs a couple of years before) and turn right along the cliffs. If my memory served me right, there was three buildings but one was out of bounds as it overhang the cliff.
Got to admit, its a testament to how well and maybe poor built they were. Being able to survive sliding down a cliff but were the foundations not deep enough to keep it from moving? Or has the ground where they use to stand totally gone now? Either way its pretty damn impressive.
Just subbed :) Great videos. Its crazy the amount of bunkers that had been constructed across the the country during ww2 which hold allot of hidden history that is lost over time. On the Scottish coast was also covered in tank traps, command bunkers and airfields such as the RAF base at Crail which has tones of bunkers and buildings to explore! Also what is the name of the soundtrack did you use at the beginning of your video? cheers :)
I will :D Promise! My parents are from the UK and my dad is very interested in old military / industrial buildings. So I'll get him watching too. You might not be interested in bikes and such, but if you could take a peek at my chanell i would love it :D
Hey IKS, just came across your channel. Love it. Just subbed. Haven't got a lot of filming experience but just started doing some videos on abandoned places and tv show/movie locations. If you have time to check out that would be awesome! Keep up the good work.
Along the beach towards civilization (not giving location) is the remains of a sound mirror.. and there was also a pill box out on the mud flats that was fully exposed at low tide but that was just over 30 years ago when I lived in the area :-)
Aaaaa right they just slide. Been to a site of bunkers and defences just south of Filey and thought they had been intentionally demolished but look very similar to what you have here. Just looked in the passing while on Holiday.
What a great find! Makes me wonder, if those bunkers was constructed by todays standards, would they have survived that long or even the slide down to the sea!
I used to go to that shop when I lived in the area..last time I was there was 1992 and it was just a derelict shell then so I doubt it is still standing..have you gone along the coast towards WB and seen the remains of the sound mirror ?
the island is full of defense structures dating way back check out sheerness!!! there is also a big defense area at fletcher battery which is now a holiday park
Ha yes, these bunkers could withstand Germans but not mother nature! BUT BEFORE YOU SAY it noooooo that's not because its badly built, but because it was fully degradable! Yes hence being environmentally friendly. God the British had everything in mind
What a beautiful area. That's fascinating how those bunkers just slid down the cliff. Great explore my friend. Be safe out there.
+Hey Mom Look What I Found!!!! many thanks for the support :)
A nice classic explore, I wonder how much more has been lost to the sea five years later.
Fascinating thanks as always for posting such interesting and under-appreciated archeological remains.

Awesome!! Im planning to go there in 2021. Its sad we all know they wont be there much longer due to the erosion :(

I remember when these were still halfway down the slope, one with its back broken. That would have been in the late '70s or very early '80s.
the world war one concrete radar dish or what was left was further round towards warden bay
Those cliffs... Someone get a shovel, and a pick, and make a mini redbull Rampage!
+Billy Borthwick lol interesting idea :)
