So I'm gay, I listen to alot of gay artists, it's what I can relate to, but
Nas X is the first openly gay black artist to push the boundaries to this degree, I ve been a huge fan since his ep, particularly Closure wich his coming out song. It interesting to see people who aren't surrounded by um how do I put this, the Gay lifestyle such as guys kissing, Im so used to people reacting negatively to something they're aren't completely familiar with. I dealt with internal homophobia for quite a long time , so to see straight ppl react to that moment better then I did
in a real life situation is very trippy.

I listen to gay artists but i don’t feel like they all make being gay 100% of their brand 100% of the time. There’s more to them than their sexuality. If I’m honest, the video was entertaining but LNX, is becoming a little bit predictable for me. I literally predicted the entire music video before watching it and i don’t think that’s good…. When the shock value fades what are you going to be left with? thankfully he has talent to back it up. I’m expecting the album after this one to show something different..bc there’s more to being gay than constant horniness, twerking and hating religion (for example there are many gay People of faith etc.) Gays get so little representation, why does our representation have to be such a caricature? That’s a perfectly valid question to ask. Sometimes I worry that his sexuality is being codified as a gimmick and he’s being swallowed by his own stereotypes, almost as if he’s becoming a caricature… of himself! I feel like a lot of female rappers fall into the same trap, then, when they wanna do a non sexual song that isn’t a stereotype, it flops, so they go back to being a caricature. Cardi B literally said so in her Live.
Anyway back to LNX, it’s a thoroughly interesting debate, I’d love to see a panel of gay men discussing it bc I find it super enlightening. Sorry for ranting! 😅

Sinéad O’Connor ripped a picture of the pope live on SNL and it completely obliterated her career- it never recovered, if you did that today no one would care, they would probably boost their career, that’s how much culture has changed. LNX does controversial things and it only makes him more famous and richer, things that would’ve been career-ending 20 years ago. You can get away with a lot more now than you could back then. Everybody wanna push the bar further it makes me nervous to think 20 years from now how much further they can the envelope be pushed…We already have Cardi B and LNX naked in music videos what’s next full pornography? 😂
