@@hengear no, only got one hen laying it. Others are using my burn pile as a nest. I even put some wood chips and straw in it to look more appealing, they just don't like it for some reason. 🤷🏻♂️
Hello HenGear, this is a very interesting setup. I've been watching roll-out nest box designs for decades. I'm liking the nesting pad and your explanation here is very helpful. I'm also thinking that if the birds have other options, with the eggs "rolling-away" they may stop laying where they don't see eggs. So, what about synthetic decoy eggs that don't roll away, so the hens "think" the eggs are there and safe? These are well worth looking into! Thanks and Thumbs UP!
Hey Frederick, Thank you for your comments! Actually, all of our nest boxes include a free fake wooden egg that is hooked to a key chain and can easily attach to the nest pad to stay in place. Please let me know if you have any questions.
So we ordered this and set it up about a month ago. I have about 45 laying hens. I only have about 6 hens that will lay in it. I’ve done all the tips from your website to try and get the girls to use it and nothing is working. I’ve taped up the red flaps, Ive added shaving and straw, I’ve added hen feathers that I’ve picked up out of the coop and put in there. We have the nesting box about a foot from the floor and every day they find a corner to lay in or they lay in the woods. Is there some kind of guarantee or refund policy. That’s a lot of money for only a few hens to be using.
I am so sorry that your hens aren't taking a liking to the box. Have you by chance tried putting the nestbox in the corner where they like to lay? If you have any questions or want some one on one help, please email Support@HenGear.com.
Just got mine and assembled it. Quality is good and I am sure it will work as described. BUT! those are the worst confusing directions to assemble I have ever seen. Did you get China to put the directions together. If I didn't have a picture of what it is supposed to look like I would out of luck and would have to re engineer it. I am a mechanically guy so it is not me!
This looks awesome!
Thanks!
Just ordered the large. Hopefully my chickens take to it.
Hello, I hope your birds quickly took to their HenGear nest box? Please let us know if you have any questions!

@@Mr.WS6 Have you tried temporarily setting the nest box on the ground, tapping open the curtains, and then putting straw in the box?
I sense from comments that if hens roam outside, they might prefer other more natural places to lay. I know I would
On one of your videos your outside of the coop thiers a white container there ,is it a feeder or you got water in that white container.
Great question Baltazar,
That is a Kuhl 800 LB chicken feeder that sits on a pallet, which we move with our loader tractor everyday
