Within 4 months, I had two large huntsmen spiders reveal themselves from my helmet as i was travelling. No camping involved, just the helmet hanging on the back of the bike. I'm starting to think about storing the helmet in a zipped up pillow slip or such 😂🇦🇺

Glad you mentioned not bring entertainment on your first trip (5:40). This is something many people do first time. Glad to see you made amends in this, later on. A Nintendo is as good an entertainment unit as any. Entertainment is a must for the inevitable down time, which happens eventually.
When I did camping on long motorcycle commutes back in the late 80s and 90s, I had an array of long forgotten handheld gismos (Casio number invaders; Franklin WordMaster dictionary with games, etc. Plus a couple of paperbacks, a portable chess/checkers set, and a transistor radio.
These days I’d take my old Nintendo DS XL with game cards for chess, solitaire, 100 classic books, & a foreign language learning card. The DS has a time clock and is good as a night light. Got a backup power supply for it as well. I’d also take a Sangean emergency solar radio with time clock, SOS function, and torch. Enough entertainment for months, if not years.
Thanks for posting your YT video.

Avoiding people - yep, that's the benefit of solo trips. That can be a challenge when with others & they want to caravan park it or such. I just got back to Asia after a trip from picking up a new Vstrom 800 in Katherine NT & riding out to the Kimberley. Nice time to get away from the crowds. A bit too early for the Gibb River Road & some locations I wanted to check out but still a great time & I will head back in a month & continue the trip, when tracks fully open up. Keep up the great work with your vids. Cheers.

LOL. great video! I solo travel in Baja..1000 miles down and 1000 back. Always alone...carry a knife but not a firearm in Baja...everywhere else I do however and I feel its insane NOT to when you can. I just mounted the Samsung Active5 tablet on my bike with various off road and mapping apps, then take it off the bike and into the tent for watching Netflix, or reading or games or whatever. It's brilliant. I dont ride at night in Mexico...mostly. I eat and cook as I go and love the adventure part of it. You've helped me a lot with the Insta360 video editiing etc. I'm on a Tiger 900 Rally Pro which I love and eats up the miles and goes about anywhere! Thanks for the great vids mate! Watch out for the gators and snakes and everything else in Aussieland that can kill you! I"ll watch out for the cartels. Deal !

Some more advice: don't hesitate to leave if things feel unsafe. There is a difference between being out of your comfort zone and being in danger, and it may be hard to gauge when you're out there alone, but only you know your limits. I'd be willing to bet most people get a bit nervous on the first night of camping season, I know I do. Keep yourself as packed up as you can so you can leave in a hurry if you need to.
