As long as you remember (Pics/Manual/Notes) of what stuff you take off and where it goes, I reckon you are quite capable of rebuilding an engine, depends how much you want to do, as for costs its all the hidden ones we "forget" about like gaskets sets, seals, bearings etc. at the moment my cylinder head is off getting soda blasted and I need a new set of rings for my project, anyway cant wait until you strip it down 🙂and rebuild, its great to think you have rebuilt the heart of bike.
Thats what I'm now looking forward to matey. I must admit to being rather anxious about it to start off with, but now I just want to get stuck into it 😁
Thank you for this one 👍 this is basically all of us I'm guessing, if it's in a lock up, a garden, or laying out on the street. Nice work on that, those things are HEAVY!
Great video 👍 Quickie I've found the best wood working tool to have for non wood worker is a 4/1/2 angle grinder cutting sanding and get it done quick 😅 lots of dust though!😂
Great stuff... Read the manual so you understand what you need to do.. Was going to say take loads of photos but as you will be probably be filming it for us so that's covered.. Just take your time, you will be fine mate.
Nicely done mate. Would have been nice to see the steps before, re: breakout frame, engine mounts, other stuff to remove, etc. Getting inspired now, to do my D2. You are the TRAIL BLAZER ;-)
Thank you matey, it didn't go too bad. Sorry about missing out some of the steps, but I'm keen not to be a how to channel as I'm not a mechanic, just a fabricator 😁 Let me know how you get on with your own bike if you decide to have a go matey 👍
@@QuickBikes Fair comment mate, thank you. Hope it all goes back together well. These are wonderful bikes, just a shame about the chocolate gear boxes :-(
One of the worst things about older Japanese sport bikes is getting fresh bodywork. They don’t make new ones and new old stock are outrageously expensive. As plastic ages it gets brittle and fuel tanks that aren’t dented or rusted out are difficult to find.
Go with the d gears. I think you can just drop the whole assembly in shafts and all. 170 quid is probably almost what you would pay for a single 5th gear at the stealership. Watching closely as I need to tear down one of my zx11s to fix 2nd gear.
My assembled in Lincoln Nebraska ,USA ZX11 C4 came with the D tranny .It's worth the extra money. That's the reason they only made C models 3 yrs. 4th and 5th broke all the time.
I thought it was normally 2nd 🤣😂 The gearboxes do sound like they're made from crushed beer tins, but for now it's getting another C gearbox as that's all I can get. It may go pop again in the future I guess, butnit gets me mobile and buys me time to find a good D version 😁👍 A few folks have said it's a worthwhile swap so it's probably going tonhappen once I decide what I'm doing with the bike later on 👍 Thanks for chipping in matey 👍
I’m I little bit miffed by mr Kawasaki! There was a couple o dudes here in NZ that were running a sidecar rig and they buggered a gearbox in their zzr1100 engine and I I thought FZ 750 gearboxes were shite!! Well they r (6th anyway) so I got mine cryo treated hoping that helps
The ZX9R(C) was renowned for having a weak third gear, and many gearboxes were swapped out....until it eventually became widely known that all owners needed to do was grease the selector peg on a regular basis.
Almost but not quite the chuckle bros .. was good tho . At least we now know a skate style seat is good as an engine rest lol.....and now the investigation begins ...
@@QuickBikes yup he seems to be on the same wave length as to where and what's needed next . .. I'm gonna say its gonna be a damaged gear rather than the selector fork maybe a burr on the selector drum not allowing it to lock in properly
Thing is though fettling and fixing them up is half the fun. You tend to look after them better as well if you're the one that did tgd work don't you think 🤔 😁👍

They seem to get heavier the longer you have to hold them as well 😂🤣
Thanks for watching matey 👍
Awaiting the diagnosis with bated breath. Great vid . Now the fun begins
I'm splitting the cases tomorrow matey, and I'm hoping the problem is obvious 😁
Legend, right thing to do in my view 👍
Thank you matey 👍

Brilliant!
Hehehe... He knew what I meant though hey 🤣👍
You done well getting that out. Made it look easy. Although I bet it was a heavy old lump!
It a chunky thing for sure, but now the work can start 😁👍

Bit of a struggle, but there's not much left on the bike now 😂🤣

🤣😂 It was awkward as hell, but we got it done in the end 👍
@@QuickBikes 😁 you know I don't think there is ever a gracious way of fitting /removing a bike engine 👍😁
There's certainly not an elegant way that I've found yet 🤣😂

I'm doing the fault finding tomorrow matey 😁

Real world stuff right there. 👏🍺 cheers my friend!
Hehehe.... its heavy stuff matey 🤣😂😅
Ace, this should be fun 🙂
Hehehe... 🤣
When you said Mat is coming down. I'm like, I hope its not that prick from " The Workshop". Thank fuck it wasn't.
Matt is a local bloke I used to work with. He's the fella that wired up the lathe for me when I first got it.
It's a bit to far for Matt to come down from Yorkshire to Plymouth, mind you everywhere is a long way from Plymouth 🤣😂
Hi how do you deal with spoilt crankshaft

Is it done yet?Come on Quicky. All the best
Hehe... Not yet matey, I'm splitting thr cases and having a peek tomorrow to find the problem 😉
Hey, so I blew my 3rd piston. (shocker). Would want to know where to start with taking out the engine. Thanks. I'll be forum hunting in the meantime.
Well, the engine is coming out again soon for a full engine rebuild. Stay tuned matey 😁😊

I've actually got a C gearbox coming as the D's that I found were either crazy money or knackered... Either way, it's getting fixed ASAP
When you said "Matt", I thought you meant the fella from the 'Slag off Delboy channel' was coming all the way from oop north to help.
Nooooo..... Plymouth is a bit far to come and help me out. It would be good to meet him one day though 😁👍

Hehehe.... but that's why you did all the work matey 😁👍
You not got an engine hoist, thought i saw one on a previous video?
I borrowed one from next door ages ago to get the lathe in / out of the van, but I don't have one matey. Nowhere to keep one anyways 🤣
