    The ink is best letting dry a moment before "erasing". I like them but then knowing that really the ink is still there, it just goes clear with heat. Get the paper cold enough and it comes back.
    I've seen some use them to mark fabric since an iron with make color go.

      I agree with you Wendy Bowman. If you allow it to dry for a moment, the color disappears fairly well.

    They help with my commitment issues in my planner :) retractable ones though with the clear eraser, they're not streaky and are a proper black black.

      Thanks Jade's Plans. I'm going to try the retractable black. Would like to see the proper black as I've only used the one Cindy describes in this video.

      Hello Jade's Plans. Just wanting you to know that I bought the black pens with the white/clear eraser as well as the retractable pens, and I did not find them to be proper black black. Also, I reached out the JetPens as I've been purchasing from them frequently. I asked if Pilot uses the same ink, black and colored, for all the FriXion pen lines. I was told that they do, so there would be no difference in the richness or vibrancy in any of the pens. I compare all inks that I try with either the Pentel EnerGel or Uni-ball Signo gel inks (these I highly recommend), and I have yet to find any that equal or surpass the rich and vibrant colors found with these two gel inks.

      Same! And I love that they don't smudge as badly as Flair pens or G-2's. I'm very heavy handed as well. With these pens I dont need to care about what I'm writing. I can just write, since I know I can erase.

  • @suburbohemian

    I love them. MUCH better than dealing with tons of white-out....and I've left my planner in the car and not lost info. The ink doesn't rub off as easily as pencil mark does either. My only complaint is I'd like to have a multi-color version in the .7mm and not just the tiny .5mm.

    I've been using these for 7 or 8 years, but ONLY for sewing/quilting. It's perfect for marking on fabric and the hot iron makes all the marks disappear. As for using it for writing on paper, I never have liked these

    • @pattyframe1359
      @pattyframe1359 7 лет назад +6

      Probably already in the comments, but the ones I have need a minute or two to dry for the erasable part to work well. I also like that they don't bleed through anything? No pen test page needed, just get to writing and forget about bleed through. I have zero tolerance for shadowing, much less actual bleed through, so these seem to work on all planners, no matter how thin.

    I really like Frixion, but my preference is the .05 retractable in blue. I have so much forward planning to do in my job that a Frixion in my work planner is essential...meetings get changed, appointments rescheduled so it serves my purpose there. There's a shit ton of colors on JetPens and I am pretty sure I have them all.

    • @Ali-in8xi

      Hey Valerenta. I think they're great tools for teachers, especially black, blue, and red as these are the common ink colors they use in school for general work and grading/correcting papers. I think they're a bad idea for students though. Learners should be able to refer to their work, correct and incorrect answers alike, so they can always refer back to and have an account of an answer they gave. You learn from your mistakes too. Keeping work in place can also aid in determining areas where a student may need more help with. I bring this up because I was contemplating buying these pens for my granddaughter just because I think she'd find them cool, but considering it more, it's definitely a bad idea in my opinion. Your comment got me thinking; thank you.

    I have some frixion pens, but I only really use them in my Rocketbook (reusable notebook that also does the thermo thing). I worked at a dumb place for a while that wouldn't let us have paper at our desks, and as a chronic doodler the white board markers we were allowed were just too chunky for sketching, so the rocketbook with frixion pens was a lifesaver. I think it works better with the rocketbook and other similar things because it doesn't really indent like on regular paper, so it erases smoother and you can also wipe it off with water.
    Also, my rocketbook came with a clicky black pen, so they are available. (i prefer it to the capped ones too)

    I actually really love the ball knock pens, the ink dries very quickly, and with (a little) use, my black pen has gotten substantially less streaky. They are great pens for lefties or for people that take notes quickly and end up screwing up!

    Hi! I guess you have a damaged or wrong set of pens. I have the 24 colors set of the exact same type of frixions. The colors are much smoother, and consistent. The frixion thing could be better, because the shadow that you see, is always there, and when I try to rewrite on the paper, it's a bit lett smooth (I guess because there is already a layer of ink there). On thinner papers, like the tomoe river paper, the frixion method leaves some crinkles and I always worried that it is actually damage the paper. I also tried and the frixion can and does erase the other side of the paper too. So that is an issue. If you dont press too hard, it wont I guess. These pens needs patience I guess :) I like them, and I use them, but with limitations ofc.

      In regards to the paper getting wrinkled, I find that the trick of it is not to rub hard (although this can also remove the ink). If you place two fingers, one on the left and right of what you're about to erase, and run the eraser tip left and right consistently but not hard, the ink will disappear minus the wrinkles/tearing. I'm still relatively new to FriXion pens and I haven't damaged paper yet.

  • @Yzabell0M
    @Yzabell0M 7 лет назад +2

    Yes they are streaky and not very vibrant but I still use them. I have an EC hourly at work where I like to mark my meetings so I know how much available time I actually have in the day. Meetings change all the time and if I cross off it removes the visibility of meeting time versus real work time. So I use frixion. They survive the week, which is enough for me. I don't care if my week from 3 months ago gets deleted in a heat wave.

    • @Ali-in8xi

    I'm sad. I have been wary of this stick version I saw at Target, but the ones I get from Amazon are way better! I have both .7 and .5 mm clicky pens, highlighters and markers. I bought them because i thought theyd be good for school. Hated them. The colours werent what i liked and streaky for sure for all of them. When erasing they left a bit of yellow or neon like colour behind. Hard to see but i notice it. Also the eraser messed up on me n couldnt erase without smearing the ink rather than making it disappear. After it smeared it couldnt erase afterwards. Also ink runs out so fast!! D:

    Yep. I didn't know that heat "erases" the ink until I left my planner in my car one day only to find all writing had disappeared. I almost cried. Thankfully, I am heavy-handed enough that the indents were still there, so I re-wrote everything with a gel pen. I loved the idea of being able to erase a mistake or something that was cancelled, but NEVER AGAIN. Also, they skip like crazy, and that's just not cool.

    Honestly, I am a HUGE fan of using the Frixion Clicker and the Frixion highlighters in my Jibun Techo. The erasable feature is so helpful in adjusting my schedule when something new comes up. Plus, I am a whiteout abuser, like my planner pages were distended with whiteout.
    I don't use them for everything; you really need to be selective with them.

    I also use Frixions for marking lines in quilting. The marks disappear with any sort of heat, like an iron or even in a really hot car (I live in Phoenix). If this happens by mistake, just put your planner/quilt/whatever in the freezer (or outside if you live in a place that actually has winter) for a few minutes, and the marks will return.

    Also again (ADHD kicked in today LOL) the residue is the most annoying part to me because if I'm going to erase I want to be able to write over it again and the funky residue does make it harder to write over. Annoying.

    • @Ali-in8xi
      @Ali-in8xi 6 лет назад +2

      Hey Kristen M. After reading your comment, I wrote my name, a 9-letter word, six times in the colors I currently have. I allowed the ink to sit for 10 seconds and erased them all, then wrote my name again directly on top of each spot. I was able to write perfectly each time. If you happen to like these pens, may I suggest you allow, if you haven't, at least 6 to 10 seconds of drying time before you attempt to erase. I would also recommend that you run your finger over the spot after erasing to get rid of the residue, just as one would if using pencil, then try again. I think you might have a better go at it this time around.

    • @GracieLouYT
      @GracieLouYT 6 лет назад

      It does help - you're right, rubbing over it after you erase makes it better. I've used these pens for almost a decade and still love and use them, but I do know there are issues and wanted to bring it up. I also think the residue issues are probably different on different kinds of paper.

    I totally agree with your comments. We use them at the office but we do not allow anyone to used them for any official document because they will fade with the time, the light, the heat from copier, scan or simply the sun from the windows! Give them the time and it will fade leaving you with a shadow of your writting. This is not only true for the pilot, any friction pen react like this (so far from our experience). It is probably the property of the ink itself. But I still like them went drafting thing...or when doing my sudoku or crossword :)

    If you leave it in a hot car and the ink vanishes, just toss it in the freezer. It comes right back. However, if you corrected words it will bring back all those corrections and originals. Something to think about… I prefer the felt tip markers. Also, write your friend a letter, hot blow dry it, then write on it, ‘place this in the freezer for 15 minutes’, …so your friend can read your hidden letter. Fun!

    I really like the one Bic erasable pen I tried. I don't usually need an erasable one. I like the Gelocity better because it's not erasable. My dad would love the erasable one, though. I don't leave indentations. The fact the gel pens don't need a heavy hand is why I like them. And I prefer one that's not quite as wet.

    I got these to use in my bullet journal for school because syllabi are notorious for changing. The thing that I hate the most of this is the gel smears really bad.

    If you leave your planner in a hot car you can put your planner in the freezer for about 20 min and it will come back. I love these pens but I've never had my ink "disappear" on me.

    I love these pens. I use them for homework/notes. I don't mind the lightness of the colors. I also don't mind the light shadows it leaves behind after erasing. I hated whiteout as a kid and still do. I have tried just about every style of the Frixion brand and I love the Ball Knock Biz the best in black with a .5 mm tip. I chose this pen because it doesn't look like an erasable pen because the eraser tip is hidden by a screw-able cap. 10/10 for me. I also use them at work for basic paperwork. Since my paperwork never leaves the office I don't feel bad using them.

    I've not had the issue with my planner and the ink disappearing. I've LOOOOOVED my pens for years but will say that it actually REappears after awhile so .... give a little take a little. I'm trying to be more open to using pens w my planner. And it's ALWAYS streaky TBH.

    "They" say that the ink will come back if you put it in the freezer. But then, doesn't that mean all of your mistakes will come back to haunt you if your book gets too cold? IDK. This is creepy mysterious pen paranormics. (Yes, paranormics is a thing. I just made it a thing)

    IMO they're best for short-term use. They may be the best for signing documents but definitely not if you're going to sign documents *all day.*

    I think you're pushing down a little hard with the frixions, I personally am really light-handed with those types of pens due to the streaking and dig marks in the paper.

  • @JenSteed

    I use them exclusively for my checkbook/bookkeeping. I would never use them in my planner but being able to erase (albeit imperfectly) in my checkbook is awesome.

    Frixion pens will never be a part of my life lol. Tried each one of them once and hated them. They just are not for me.

  • @emlubb4857
    @emlubb4857 2 года назад

    I think that the streakiness partly comes from how hard you pess down on the paper when you write. Leaving the ink to dry for a minute before erasing would help you erase it better. I also know that the skinnier tips are less streaky and more vibrant :) I would recommend to look a bit more into a pen before making a review of it, because there's lots of different types of these! There's retractable clicker ones, and as i said, there's smaller tips as well.

    The other styles aren’t any different. I have .07s and they write the same way. What’s worse is, when you erase & go to rewrite, it’s even more streaky. Having said that, I can fuck up a 1-letter word 😂 so I erase a lot. I also am a paper tearer when I make 1error in a notebook. So for that reason, these pens are a win. *BUT* I don’t use them in my weekly plans anymore. Only in my monthly view where I record the schedules of my direct reports at work, which are always subject to change. They also don’t dry quickly. I’ve written something like “TE lv @ 130” and closed the planner and dots of ink with transfer to the other page. But I can erase it soooo....

      I'm not a fan of pencil first (I'd rather scratch something out for some reason) so that might also flavor my feelings about these. haha

  • @bodilnielsen9760
    @bodilnielsen9760 7 лет назад

    In my experience they streak and aren't as vibrant, just like you experienced - maybe from the frixion from the ball rolling when you write?? I also store them in a penpot together with some pencils, so have had some graphite from the bottom of the pot rub off on the eraser part of the frixion pen, and then all of a sudden there was a big pencil smudge on my paper :S
    I left one of my pens in a hot area once, so when I tried to write with it again, it was almost colorless - so popped it in the freezer for a day or two which restored most of the color :)

    I think you must have gotten a bad set. Or ones that needed to be frozen for awhile before you used them. I 've never had the type of erasure problem or faint, streaky writing you experienced, and I've used multiple types and colors. Every once in awhile the erasure will smudge, but a regular eraser clears that up. Couldn't live without them!

      i didn't realize a regular eraser could help, I'll have to try that!

    Frixion is taken to the next level when you combine it with the reusable paper (wet wipe) of Rocketbook.
    It takes it from the erasable of mistake making to the infinite reusable.

    I am finally getting around to this video which you’ve mentioned more times than I can count. I love my Frixion stick pens and retractable ones. I have the Frixion markers and Frixion highlighters. As a third grade teacher, these are fabulous. Plans change a lot during the week. Sometimes I draw arrows. Having the option to erase in my teacher planner is lovely. My teacher planner stays at school so hot cars don’t worry me. However, it’s not just cars to worry about. I heated my lunch up and set it down on my planner. After lunch, I discovered I didn’t have my math and social studies plans for the afternoon. 🤦🏻‍♀️
    I do use my Frixion pens for one thing in my personal planner though. They are perfect for writing the weather forecast. I want to write those in and it hurts to see the temp change and I have to white out again and again. This is where I think these pens shine. Erase and rewrite the high/low. Thanks for the video!
