    Another nice video. It may be worth mentioning that BF2 was the first DAC to come with Unison USB and with the BF2/64, not only did Schiit introduce the TI chips into BF, but they also brought TRUE balanced output as opposed to "gimped" balanced of the BF2.
    Keep up the great work!!

      Yggdrasil was actually the first to have Unision, although, yes, that was an upgrade. BF2 was the first NEW model to get it, but Gungnir also got Unision upgrade about the same time. There also might have been a few Bifrost's that went out with Unison, but I would have to check with Schiit.

    This is a great video, Stereo Azimuth - excellent seeing a solid Bimby video that properly goes through multiple generations. I would love to see you expand this series (This & Unison) to a modified OPA1656 OG Bifrost MB (process) and Modi MB 2 comparisons (sound). A person can dream, anyway. Keep it up!

      I would be glad to do an OPA1656 process of changing out those op amps. Although I don't have a BF on hand to do so. If you have one, I would be glad to do the mod for free so I can to the process video. Please send me a PM and we can make this happen.

    I owned a 2020 version of Gungnir Multibit A2 and bought a Bifrost 2/64 in December. In short, the Gungnir has been sold. I also did a direct A/B of BF 2/64 against Yggdrasil+ LIM for four hours on a stereo setup and while the Yggy does some things better, so does the BF 2/64. You really start splitting hairs. Is the LIM worth about 300% the BF 2/64? Not to my ears.

    Suggestions: there’s a lot of black footage in the beginning of the video you should trim. And you should put “2/64” in the title so it’s clear which Bifrost you’re talking about.

    A great review! I suppose if I'm using only SE outs, the different between Bifrost 2/64 vs Yggy will be even smaller, right? My amp only takes SEs, so I'm actually debating myself between Bifrost 2/64 vs Ygg+ GS2.

    • @stereoazimuth
      @stereoazimuth  6 месяцев назад +1

      Sorry for my late reply, but even on SE outs, the Yggdrasil + GS2 is gonna be much bigger sound and more detailed. Certainly more lively as well.

    Went to the Schitr this weekend. I live close enough that ive gone 3 times already for purchasing, repair and possibly exchange. I bought the new Modi+ last week, but then out of the blue i ordered the Magnepan LRS+… between that and feeling my new Macbook Pro dac sounding almost the same i wanted to see if i should upgrade before my return window was up. I listened to the Modi Mulitibit n Bifrost 2 back to back for hours. Basically of course the bifrost was “better” but mostly due to some initial distortion on the quiet or highs on the Modi. I really don’t know if i want to spend that much for digital when i primarily listen off vinyl but i do have hi res lossless acess. Im not sure if you tried the Modi m 2 but I’d love your thoughts. What i dont like about either is the clicking, less noticeable with headphones on but not speakers. Also i wish they updated the whole bifrost like they did their other DACs to USB C… it makes swapping very easy as very little modern devices have USB N anymore. If bifrost had usb c this would be likely easier.

      LRS+? Nice. Out of curiosity, what are the current wait times? Assuming you bought them from Magnepan, that is.

      @@richardpena6201 6 months was what i was told, so looking at june but am slowly building my system to accommodate. I honestly accidentally happened upon all of it just cuz i randomly bought a vidar 2. So many pair that with Magnepans, who i heard a little about but was thinking Way out of my reach. Then i read about the LRS+ thinking they were $1000 each n when i went to the dealer close by n was corrected, it was a no brainier

    Hi, I'm using a 12 y.o. AMP/DAC (NuForce HD + HD660S2) If I purchase these Bifrost 2/64 + Midgard stack, will I get better sound experience? I'm using Spotify premium for music and gaming/anime. Thank you.

    Thanks for making this video; I was hoping you'd talk about the Bifrost! Also thanks for making the Unison USB installation video - someday I'm going to find an older Bifrost and leverage your lesson! Right now I've got a Modi 3+ with an Asgard 3 and a Valhalla 2 (via a good quality RCA switch). Would you consider the BF2/64 an "incremental" upgrade over a Modi or an "exponential" upgrade?

    • @stereoazimuth
      @stereoazimuth  Год назад

      Bifrost in any form is certainly a clear upgrade from Modi. Only exception is an original Modi MB to original Bifrost MB - those are very close.

      What RCA switch are you using? I'm looking to use one to switch between my Valhalla2 and a Magnius, both coming out of my Bifrost Multibit DAC.

    Great review. Did you do a review of Yiggy?

    • @stereoazimuth
      @stereoazimuth  Год назад +1

      I have a Yggy A1, and it's awesome. There are so many other reviews about it, I'm not sure if there is anything new to say about it, other than it's pretty great and I really don't have much reason to upgrade. If you can find a used one at a good price, they are well worth it.

    • @MidFiMan

      @@stereoazimuth I just bought an Anthem MCA 225 Gen 2 and a Freya N this past week. I can't handle anything right now more than that. With that being said, I'd love to be able to get a Yggy from Schiit with them being on close out. And them being on close out makes me wonder what they've got coming next. I have a Modius and I'd love to review the Modius to a Gugnir or a Yggy, jumping over the Bifrost, which nobody really does reviews of. I personally think the Modius and Bifrost are a little too close; I know, I might get tarred and feathered for that opinion.

    • @stereoazimuth
      @stereoazimuth  Год назад +1

      @@MidFiMan No, I do think the Modius E gets overlooked as just a balanced Modi, but I understand it is actually a really decent DAC for the money. Schitt's implementation of the ESS chip is different than everybody else's. And the Yggy is not on total closeout, just the now older version that does not have the remote functions and the new casing.

      I like my streamers separate anyway. Different power supplies, streamers always need updating as things change or new versions come out. A DAC is more of a hardware piece. There are several Streamer DAC's out there if you want all-in-one units.

    • @riffraff9000
      @riffraff9000 5 месяцев назад +1

      No streamer? GOOD. Streamers should be outboard. Plus, Schiit has stated they will never do a streamer.
