This is excellent, man. Cheers. Doing a civil construction course, and finding good Australian content is like looking for a needle in a haystack. Thanks again.
Top marks for the informative video mate, really appreciate you sharing your knowledge and skill, coming from a bloke who’s just starting in the industry, this video has brought plenty of value. Hope to see more . Cheers brother
I’ve been gaining only a bit of experience by watching and then being asked to leave site not to return. thanks for this so much has helped me learn so much.
Keep the videos coming. Every job. Good content talking through absolutely everything brother! Keep it up. Could you maybe do a video on basic use of the GPS/trimble/topcon?
Nice work and the information was well presented as well as the length, don't fall too far into the trap of keeping it short because there as more people who want to see the whole story as there are others that say make it 90 seconds long or you will lose the viewer. The people with short attention spans will always bitch that it's too long, those that enjoy quality content are a completely different group. Cheers Matey and see you on your next one
Earthworks 101… a world of knowledge shared in this video! Enjoyed watching you operate, cause you right most people don’t give a fuck and leave a ugly mess 👊🏽
@@jaydenkraft from the cut and fill right through to driveway cut was so smooth! How close where you to the neighbours eve there on that last cut line 😬
Wow bro haven’t seen trimming like that before, I’m a combo operator digging out boxes for patches on road works in Queensland, I’m trying to get good at trimming efficiently with a nice finish but it’s hard when the supervisor is hounding you to get it done and settles for a half assed job
You should scratch/break the surface before building up in layers to prevent foundation movement first. Helps to bind New and old material. Just a note
Looking good mate. I have a boom mounted receiver which works great. Saves u getting out at the same levels. Its interesting that you build on top of the track rolled material. We wouldn't do that here. We would do the cut and still take off the top soil and build it back to height with road base material and compact that. Nice to see some different ways of doing it tho, cheers 👍
Definitely not my preference as you can imagine its not the best for final trim either. Every builder is different and some request to just do this and drill a heap of piers apposed to controlled fill. Interesting to hear you guys build it back with road base considering the costs involved. Awesome to see different ways nonetheless
hey mate im the same as you i have ocd with all my work and take pride in anything i do, just wondering what's the best way to start my own excavation business? start off small with a 1.7 or 2.5 and work my way up? id love a 14t but how the hell do you find work at the start for it
Hey mate, a lot of people start off smaller and work their way up, reasons being less operating costs and maintenance costs. In my opinion you learn a lot starting small and doing jobs yourself which is where there’s more profits to be made compared to hourly hire. It really comes down to who you know in the industry as well. If you were going down the path of getting a 14t your safest bet would be to get on hourly hire. You’re nearly always going to get work if your skills are there and It’s consistent work to cover all costs. Also it’s a bit hard to get your own jobs running with a 14t without contacts and just adds a whole lot of stress. If you start building up some equity through hourly hire, that’s when you’d consider taking on your own jobs, house cuts etc with contractors trucks.
