      the welder is just a power supply. You still need the rest of the switch and caps to create the right frequency. or just buy it made ond use the welders as a power supply.

    Does the section where you heat the metal plate suggest that the field is strongest at the edges in the work coil???
    Thanks for the great video!

    • @funwithelectronic4140
      @funwithelectronic4140  2 года назад +3

      No. The strongest field is in the middle.

    • @dalenassar9152
      @dalenassar9152 2 года назад +1

      @@funwithelectronic4140 ARE YOU POSITIVE?????
      There is mathematical proof, also numerical and computer simulation (based on the BIOT-SAVART LAW) that strongly suggest it is nearer the inner edge, more specifically, being at a locus of points forming the "circle of MAXIMA" around the exact inner center of the coil.
      In fact, the weakest flux density is at the very end of the 'centers' of the coil (two points), where the flux here is exactly half that at the middle center axis.

    • @dalenassar9152
      @dalenassar9152 Год назад +1

      I see that where you place a piece of sheet metal over the coil, it heated far more along the outer coil area. I think this isn't just from a hot coil, but from the much stronger magnetic field at the edges of the inside of the coil. To test this very simply, insert a fireproof sheet between the coil and sheet (or just hold it slightly above the coil). You should see that the max. induction heating is due to the field being much more intense at the INSIDE perimeter of the coil.

      wha? whats so critical about seeing some pipe get bent?
      if you cant figure out how to wind a bit of pipe through a toroid (and anyway, its better to used a gapped ferrite core, not a toroid) then maybe you shouldnt be contemplating projects that require dealing with copper pipe...
