Writer-director Greta Gerwig (Lady Bird) has crafted a Little Women that draws on both the classic novel and the writings of Louisa May Alcott, and unfolds as the author’s alter ego, Jo March, reflects back and forth on her fictional life. In Gerwig’s take, the beloved story of the March sisters - four young women each determined to live life on her own terms -- is both timeless and timely. Portraying Jo, Meg, Amy, and Beth March, the film stars Saoirse Ronan, Emma Watson, Florence Pugh, Eliza Scanlen, with Timothée Chalamet as their neighbor Laurie, Laura Dern as Marmee, and Meryl Streep as Aunt March. - Кино
I think aunt march in this version had better points. At this point the girls had no idea how much their mom suffered, how desperate and sad and angry she was, how hard it is being a wife and a mother. I think Marmee understands her daughter slightly better, and understands being a wife and mother in this time much more.
Was all psyched to get wealthy by being a cat lady, then I realized I was drastically misinterpreting her.
Same 😂😂
Does she mean..... Hooker?
What did she mean?
brothel owner.
Tbh aunt march wasmt entirely wrong here. She just wanted for the girls to be financially stable and have a nice life despite not understanding they wanted to marry for love
The moment Aunt March became my favorite! Yes she is rude and a bit snobbish but but she is brutally honest, at least from a 19th century perspective!
It makes me laugh how we know exactly what a “cat house” is, but that term could easily apply to something entirely different now which you’d maybe even bring kids to
A cat house is the house of any woman who thinks she doesn't want to get married during her 20s lmao
It s prolly an euphemism for a madam running a house of ill repute or I m completely in the wrong haha.
@@lepotdefleur9906 That's exactly what it is.
I disagree, I thought it was a house similar to an animal shelter. 😂
The old goat is the G.O.A.T.
Jo - getting lippy with Aunt March:
& getting left behind….😢
Still, she does leave her the House!
🙏🏽💔🙏🏻
I'm so glad we can work today! Women's Lib saved a lot of people back in the day.
Women has the absolue worst life today... Look at america... Women have zero value
Women have never been unhappier since those studies began. Good job feminists. You turned yourself into shitty men.
With my mental illness I'd be dead 15 years ago...
@@lilithcampbell2112 I understand that feeling.
Always a bridesmaid never a bride😂
...brain immediately went "cat cafe" and "movie star" for aunt march's suggestions...and then I remembered wait, isn't this set in the 1800sish--I DO NOT REMEMBER THIS IN THE BOOK, WOW...
Talento purooo Meril!!!,👏👏👏👏
Or outlive your husband...
You know what's so funny and almost drove me insane in this day and age? I've had these same horrible conversations with my immigrant mother with all the damn opportunities I have here. And I'm not stupid, I'm so smart I was on the deans list, I have big dreams and I've worked since I was 17 years old to support myself but that doesn't matter at all because the only way I'm supposedly going to be safe and happy is if I have a children and a husband I hate.
There are plenty of ways for women to make money. Problem is so few of them will go that genuine marathon for it.
There's an OnlyFans joke in here somewhere.
Is it just me or Meryl strangely sounds like Tywin Lannister here? 😅
Wait, what’s a cat house?
A house of sin as they use to call it
A brothel
This is a joke...right? This takes place in Massachusetts during the civil war. The rights of women for creating, ow ing, and operating businesses independently from men, rights regarding contracts, and legal independence had been started in 1844 and were aggregated and codified in 1855...10 years before this sham of a script. The only reason she would feel this way is because she was lazy and ignorant. Women owned businesses flourished during this period...especially since so many men were involved in the war effort.
This is a lie...like much of the script...to perpetuate a narrative that is historically and factually incorrect...AND IS NOT PART OF ALCOTTS NOVEL.
There were precious few ways for men to make money too, and they usually had a family to support.
Well they had more than 2 at least, and usually you didn't marry until after youd established yourself. Often if you tried to ask for a girls hand and you had no money or career prospects, her father wouldn't have allowed it. It was also alot easier to ve a single man, than a single woman
Is it really a 'goal' to stay unmarried? You literally make it a goal to make sure something stays as the default for the entirety of your life? To strive to make sure you are alone when you are old?
No.
But the goal shouldn't be to "get married" either.
The goal should be to be financially independent and successful - something that women were unable to do or be without their "mans money" back then as they didn't have the rights ( legal/social/both) to work in many places and most universities of higher education didn't even admit women so they'd never match up to the men
@@Mhojito53 A woman wanting to be financially independent is like a man wanting to be reproductively independent. Good for you, but you're on the road to dying alone and miserable.
You speak as if getting married and have children means you wouldn't be alone în old age. I meet plenty lonely women Who had families. The got married and either husband run away or died before them. Children abandon them. Beeing married and with children doesn't mean you won't end up alone. There's no guarantee they will remain bedide you în old age. But you should take care of yourself regardless, as a woamn, especially by beeing finacially ibdioendent for all type of situations. I also think you shouldn't judge women Who chose to be independent. They fought many years to even have a choice, while man always had it. Everyone should be Free to choose what kind of life they want ot live without any other judgment (as long as they don't harm another)
@@marishkaspirit Who is more likely (by far) to be alone when they die of old age?: 1) A person who has a family with children. 2) A person with no family.
I've met one or two people who smoke regularly and don't have cancer, or emphysema, or other major lung issues later in life... doesn't mean it isn't a likely outcome if you pursue smoking habitually.
Everyone IS free to choose whatever life they want, and I am free to warn them of the realistic consequences of those choices, and YES even JUDGE them based on my own experiences and values. They are also free to heed my warning or ignore them. If you really felt people should be exempt from judgement, then please follow your own rule and stop chastising and judging ME for expressing my viewpoint.🤫
Take into context the era of the film. Women were subservient to their husbands and essentially became baby machines (although death in childbirth was highly common) and domestic servants.
"the best way to make money is to become a pimp"
Feminists for some reason: "yass queen"
Or be a modern day feminist
It should be called bitter little women 😅😅😅.
Yes Mark.
Bitter Little Women calling out the misogyny of the patriarchy which did not allow women to work in multiple professions, had Universities which refused to recruit women ( so they could never match up), didn't even give women rights to vote and in turn led to marriage being the only way for a woman to have access to ( their husband's) money whether or NOT they wanted that life.
@@Mhojito53 And it should have stayed that way.
@@markinglese3874 you want that system because low-value men such as yourself struggle to compete successfully in today's dating marketplace, since women have the freedom to reject you (and do!). You would need a highly patriarchal system in order to make a woman so desperate/dependent that they'd even have to consider marrying a creature such as yourself
@@markinglese3874 who sounds bitter now?
@@emilianowaczewski4605 Little women
It's sad that so many women are going to end up alone in their forties with just money and nothing else.
Ok boomer. Better than being in your forties married and broke.
sad for who? the women with money to splash and no burdens?
@@user-ln2go4xp6d Yes.
@@SaintSC05 speak for yourself, but i wouldn't be happy taking care of several children and a husband with no money or freedom.
@@user-ln2go4xp6d Then make money and have freedom. You people act like you can't have either with kids. And eventually freedom turns into loneliness. A person with no family has perfect freedom.
You could pimp out new girls for Harvey...right Meryl????
Few ways? Are you kidding me? Just marry someone rich and divorce them. How do you think women make money nowadays? Hell have a baby with someone and then leave them and get that child support money. Bam there’s you income. Women have more avenues of making then men
Not a reliable option in the 1800s
Please note the time this show is set in… (also, “just marry someone rich and divorce them”? as if that’s simple. and if women leave the child with the father then she’s paying child support, not the father. I don’t know what world you’re living on but okay)
First of all this is set in like the 1800s, you can't just marry someone and divorce thek like that, also for the child support one now you have 2 mouths to feed and it's a bigger waste of money, are you like 13?
