Writer-director Greta Gerwig (Lady Bird) has crafted a Little Women that draws on both the classic novel and the writings of Louisa May Alcott, and unfolds as the author’s alter ego, Jo March, reflects back and forth on her fictional life. In Gerwig’s take, the beloved story of the March sisters - four young women each determined to live life on her own terms -- is both timeless and timely. Portraying Jo, Meg, Amy, and Beth March, the film stars Saoirse Ronan, Emma Watson, Florence Pugh, Eliza Scanlen, with Timothée Chalamet as their neighbor Laurie, Laura Dern as Marmee, and Meryl Streep as Aunt March.

I think aunt march in this version had better points. At this point the girls had no idea how much their mom suffered, how desperate and sad and angry she was, how hard it is being a wife and a mother. I think Marmee understands her daughter slightly better, and understands being a wife and mother in this time much more.

The rights of women for creating, ow ing, and operating businesses independently from men, rights regarding contracts, and legal independence had been started in 1844 and were aggregated and codified in 1855...10 years before this sham of a script. The only reason she would feel this way is because she was lazy and ignorant. Women owned businesses flourished during this period...especially since so many men were involved in the war effort.
This is a lie...like much of the script...to perpetuate a narrative that is historically and factually incorrect...AND IS NOT PART OF ALCOTTS NOVEL.

      No.
But the goal shouldn't be to "get married" either.
The goal should be to be financially independent and successful - something that women were unable to do or be without their "mans money" back then as they didn't have the rights ( legal/social/both) to work in many places and most universities of higher education didn't even admit women so they'd never match up to the men

You speak as if getting married and have children means you wouldn't be alone în old age. I meet plenty lonely women Who had families. The got married and either husband run away or died before them. Children abandon them. Beeing married and with children doesn't mean you won't end up alone. There's no guarantee they will remain bedide you în old age. But you should take care of yourself regardless, as a woamn, especially by beeing finacially ibdioendent for all type of situations. I also think you shouldn't judge women Who chose to be independent. They fought many years to even have a choice, while man always had it. Everyone should be Free to choose what kind of life they want ot live without any other judgment (as long as they don't harm another)
