Bach - 8-bit St John Passion - opening chorus

- I'm quite happy with how this one turned out. It was a lot of work, but I think it paid off. This is the opening chorus of the oratorio, Herr, unser Herrscher, dessen Ruhm in allen Landen herrlich ist! I'll do a lot of choral music on this channel. If there's a piece you particularly like, please tell me about it in the comments.
As usual, if you like my video, please support me by sharing and subscribing to my channel.

Bach, the final boss of music.
Very well put :D
And the postgame boss is John Cage

Me: the perfect boss music doesnt exist.
Bach: hold my bible
Ha ha you're genius!
And the boss is GOD

@@LordJagd an argentine actress.
He really would have said "hold my beer"... After all, 10 gallons a day were delivered to him. 8 For his bellow-men and assistants, and 2 for him.
You should arrange my mass in b minor into 8-bit as well, you did it to Mozart, what's wrong with my mass? You don't like it?
I love your mass, but man, the Kyrie alone would take an entire month to arrange. It's a hairy score. :p
@@seedyoda5714 Actually, I like Cloria in excelsis and Et in terra pax the most. I think they are the best written part of the entire mass.
@@jackren295 The opening of the Gloria is _unbelievably_ good. Bach was evidently riding a high wave of inspiration when he composed it.
i had a fright for like 2 seconds, thought was real Bach commenting here!!! :P
@@seedyoda5714 tbh the whole mass is unbelievably good, Think about the sanctus or the dona nobis pacem, my god.
The amazing thing about it is that the combination of those exact notes from Bach can be played on any kind of instruments and still sounds hardcore brilliant.. a genius..
structure over instrumentation gets you this, you can pretty much play any of Bach's pieces on any instrumentation and it sounds awesome
So true, I love hearing classical pieces played on other instruments than the original instrumentation, especially synths...
@@chopholtz4950 sir this is a wendy's
Master of master
It's nice to hear the bass notes, usually I hear the melody but this really highlights the bass. Bach master of the ages and genres 😎
Could not agree more! As a Cellist, I LOVE bass notes!!!
@@jimfowler5930 As an Organist, i totally agree with you and with 1st dude
I love listening to bach in that aspect, I focus to bass when listening a piece the first time, which is so hard and all the sounds above it are more easily audible (maybe my headphones are shitty). And on the 2nd run I try to hear all of them all together, and it is mostly ultra satsfying, trippy and makes me dizzy.
Yes, the king of bassline!
I agree!! 8 bit needs more bass sometimes
best boss music :0
More like the final castle.
Bach is the best
When it comes to understanding of music. Bach is really really really the ENDGEGNER
Wow! For some reason, these 8-bit Music videos make it so you can hear Bach's CHORD CHANGES (his homophonic textures). Bach's sons said he did write some songs, but they were "weird" and not his most popular pieces. However, the St. John is said to have been his return to popularity late in life. I would venture to say that it was popular BECAUSE it has some of the most original ("weird") chord changes.
This sounds like it could legitimately be the final level music from an early SNES or Genesis game
That composer was amazing for Nintendo , but Bach is God
@@TheOwlHead Bach is NOT God. He wrote for and worshipped the one true God...and that's not himself.
The music of Bach is so powerful that it resists even to this treatment... This incredible music simply reigns!
Dude, how didn’t you call this Bachintosh ?!!
Because he made it on his iBach
Bach is just timeless, it works so good with so many arrangements and instrumentations. I looove both openings of St Matthew and St John Passion, they are so epic, dramatic und just fit so good as opening, Im alway so intrigued after listening, you really get drawn into the music. The bass here is so badass hahaha
I've always liked this Passion over St. Matthew Passion - they're both incredible, but for some reason I prefer this.
Yeah, St. John is my favourite as well. This movement in particular is outstanding. The aria "Eilt, ihr angefochtnen Seelen" is amazing as well.
I personally prefer the recitative "Jesus ging mit seinen Jungern", but - what can I say? The whole Passion is simply too amazing with its awesomeness! Every part is simply perfect!
...And your channel deserves more views! I've seen my share of 8-bit classical videos, but yours is by far the best quality I've encountered.
Thank you, greatly appreciated.
St John is more dramatic and shorter. But St Matthew's opening number for double choir, double orchestra, and treble ripieno is peak Bach.
This is the greatest piece possibly ever
Bach is timeless.... Deep respect for the Master of music..... Good music starts at Bach and ended with Bach.
I don't know why, but I'm enjoying this thoroughly. I wish I can hear an 8-bit version of the complete Passion. (hint, hint) Thanks so much for posting!
Glad you like it. I'll surely do more when I have time. :)
Vocaloid might be a good idea if you do
Because it lets the master shine with simplicity of sound. So you can focus on the perfection of the formula.
@@TheOwlHead So true and well put.

Glory to his God in the highest…his music is sublime

No kind of instrument can destroy this grateful music, no composer who has to compete with him will miss him as the end opponent of his boss level of composing. Even bad musicians have a big task to ruin this beautiness of art.
Hear this genius tension over minutes beating in your heart, life how it feels really when you're only honest to yourself. Bach had to be so honest with himself. SBG.
Instantly subbed. Great work, one cannot fail with Bach's works given...
This is freaking awesome! Great job! Awesome instrument choices!
I love this so much
Thanks. :)

Omg thank you so much for uploading this!!!!
You're welcome. :)
3:00 to 3:10 it's like be playing Castlevania, awesome work
Thanks. :)
Are there more 8-bit versions of Bach's St. John Passion?
This is pretty cool. Keep up the good work!
Thanks. I'll probably make more from St John at some point. I'll also post a fixed version of this one because, as somebody else pointed out, the repeat didn't work properly.
I know there is an error with the ending, my choir is going to sing St. John's Passion in April!
That's awesome! :o
I enjoyed it, but after listening for a few times I sense there is something wrong with the rhythm. For example, listen at 0:08. It appears to skip a fraction of a beat. Seems to happen roughly every 8 seconds.
Sadly, this remix seems to have been based on a rough MIDI file. It still has a great sound, though.
Interesting sound. Bach did often not specifie what kind of instruments, so even if it lacks the text this OK to listen to.
The best theme all of channel.
Perfect for A Clockwork Orange vol. 2...
this is more resminiscent of Genesis music than 8bit. Great rendition!
zomg!!! amaze-ing: it captured the suspense fabric and the terror tone
Thanks, glad you liked it. :)
Shut up American BURN
Really happy to have discovered this, beautifully done, congratulations (:
How in the world did Bach ever have time to write this kind of music and produce 21 children?!
When the inner ear is developed enough you just need to put it on paper or midi, in todays world.
This is amazing, really cool, very nice work
Great job, but the "Da Capo" ends at 8:27!
Oh, good catch. Something didn't work here. :/
Great and wonderful!!!! Great job!!!! Congrats!!!
You made Johann proud
So amazing!
one of the most incredible things I've seen on this website. what the fuck
AWESOME
Awesome!
It's like a 80's movie song

Very nice. 10/10
How about Brandenburg No. 6 in B-flat? It's similar in some ways. Cheers Bert
8bit....Kick Ass!!!!!👍
You could make some chorus from St John Passion
More Please!
imagine an rpg with composers
Well I guess he composed that song with the choir by himself
Hello there, can I use some of your songs for my video, please?
Yes, no problem.

Why did you change the bass line to go up and down
Why you stopped making videos?
Sadly I've been extremely busy with my job, my girlfriend and my own compositions. But I should be able to make more in the (not too distant) future. :)
