Although Hot Wheels called it the “Dixie Challenger” it is actually based on the 71-74 Dodge Charger SE. The hood is off in scale some, the real life version does have a very long hood, but not that long. This casting is also very similar to the Hot Wheel Rodger Dodger, which I collect. The difference being that the Rodger Dodger has an open engine compartment with an oversized, blown engine coming out of it. The older model has upturned pipes sticking out of the hood, with the newer castings having the exhaust exiting just behind the front wheels. And yes, those wheels are a Dodge/Plymouth original wheel. They were referred as the Rallye Wheel and were the most popular wheels from the factory in the early 70s. They do look great on this casting, another great job!
"But I wouldn't say that..." Rob, you're either a very brave man who is confident in his escape skills and never sleeps or you've lost all sense of the will to survive. Very subtle on the paint scheme, but very nice. As someone said in an earlier comment, definitely a villain car; maybe even an anti-hero type ride. Raising the classic muscle cars up like that was popular in my area for a short while during the 80's, so this sort of took me back. Stay safe and thanks again!
You should try a 1/18 scale model. You could put in so much detail on the interior and the insides of the doors. I think it would be something cool you could change up
I had one in my early days of collecting I painted it plum crazy purple had it in my collection for a few yrs then some neighbor who at the time was thought to be a friend stolen it from me and I never got it back. Yours is a sharp looking car
Awesome job Rob, glad to see you went with the black paint scheme instead of the original orange. It looks so much better than the original. Love those wheels to. Excellent job and thanks for sharing another great video, take care and stay safe.
Hi Rob, Hope all is well with you and family. nice to watch your videos, and believe I need this since I'm still working at Lowe"s (National Home Improvement Center). Some scary times, but again you and the others make it easier for me to decompress from this madness. God Bless you and yours and keep you safe.
Rob I love anything Dodge and would be lying if I said I was not more than just a little bit envious right now. Man I would love to own this one. Amazing Job well done.
Hey, Rob. Just letting you know my Mother is an RN and she had Covid 19 positive patients this week and today, as she dozed off in front of her laptop screen, I started playing your videos so she can get a good rest. You have a very relaxing voice Mate! People tell me the same, but you really knocked my Mother out. She should probably sub to your channel. 🙂 Have a good day, and stay safe!
Beautiful restoration, Rob! Those wheels make that car look great! 👍👍👍👍 I was a big fan of the Dodge Challenger in the early 70's. One of the colors they had was called Plum Crazy. It was the coolest shade of purple! I wish they'd make a special edition with that color!!
Late to the story, seems everyone else has given you the history in patch work, but it's all there in the comments. Great job, it is my favorite casting that hot wheels ever made, my second is any of the Chargers from the '66-'74 castings. I love it, I will have to make one of my own. That black with evil forest is quite eye catching. Thank you for a great video.
Nice Challenger. Lots of owner’s back in the heyday years of its production use to lift the rear ends with air shocks. They could adjust the height to compliment the tires and wheels sizes they would use.
Great work on the Challenger and Awsome paint job and wheels and tires . The Challenger was a great muscle cars from Dodge but I like the Charger better .
Beautiful job my friend. Have always loved this car and remember having at least one way back when in my youth. Your resto's keep getting better and better. Keep up the awesome work.
Even though the scale is definitely off like you said, this is actually based off of a mid 70's Charger. But still a beautiful car, and beautiful job you did to this casting, Rob
Yeah, those wheels and the high stance really suit it, makes it look like something youd see driving round in swampy/bayou areas as the wide grippy tyres and ground clearance wouldmakedriving on slippy mud and watery bits present no significant trouble. 10/10 would recommend.
I love what you did with this Dixie Challenger, one of my favorite cars when I was a kid, I have a few in my collection I plan on restoring at some point
Awesome job on this restoration. Those wheels really do suit the car. I believe at the time this was Mattel's attempt at cashing in on the Dukes of Hazard craze without having to violate copyright laws. They had two different versions of the roof. One was a Confederate flag and the other was like a carry over from the stripe on the hood.
I thought this was the Rodger Dodger, a fine effort by Bone Shaker designer Larry Wood. Sorry, I know I had to get a mention in somewhere, but I'll be doing a Larry Wood models video soon..... He did well over 100 cars so most HW collections will have at least one Larry in there somewhere.... The front says "Challenger" and the rear says "Shelby GT500" in equal amounts. The paint with those wheels is so reserved, subtle and gives the shape of the car a whole new meaning altogether. Adorable 💖
to me it looks like some kind of funny car... great paintjob, all that orange gets kind of old after a while. :) also, the wheels fit like a fist to the eye. XD
This car has the feature I miss most from the American cars of the '70s: a hood you could land a helicopter on. :) Looks great! Very sinister. You turned it into a movie villain's car. Mopar, btw, is Chrysler's brand for its parts-and-service division (like Motorcraft for Ford or ACDelco for General Motors).
Great job Rob, like the paint job and the detailing. It’s a shame they made the plastic bases , they should have stuck two metal bases? The mags spot on. 👍👍
Nice Dodge Charger Rob , great colour ,,and MOPAR Wheels for a MOPAR Car , Mopar , being short for Motor Parts of the Chrysler, Dodge and Plymouth division
Good work, the paint job has a great smooth finish in general - only the front and back edges seem a bit bumpy, maybe try sanding/polishing those spots more before painting.

I took one look and thought.... "Charger, not Challenger!"
"But I wouldn't say that..."

Raising the classic muscle cars up like that was popular in my area for a short while during the 80's, so this sort of took me back.

Very nice! The subtle color shift and minimal details give it a sinister look, which fits this casting well.
My first car was a lime green/blacktop 71 Dodge Charger. This restoration brings back memories. Impressive!
Your playing with fire 🔥 with a remark like that about you’re wife 😄
Unreal, Dodge is getting a lot of attention from the 1/64 Dudes.
Great build, awesome work MG. Those Wheels too!!
The car looks much better now and those wheels really set it off perfectly.
This is one of my favorite castings. It turned out beautiful. Nice work.
Thanks for keeping the videos flowing during difficult times..
You should try a 1/18 scale model. You could put in so much detail on the interior and the insides of the doors. I think it would be something cool you could change up
With this color this little challenger became certainly the queen of street racing, very good job 💪😉
Rob, you're a resto' wizard. Great job; paint is beautiful. This would look nice on my shelf!
I had one in my early days of collecting I painted it plum crazy purple had it in my collection for a few yrs then some neighbor who at the time was thought to be a friend stolen it from me and I never got it back. Yours is a sharp looking car

Really nice Rob. Truly a muscle car this and you're right the black did look good.
Nicely done, sir. The black color was looking good, too.
Loving the attention to the little details. Great work, as always.
Great transformation, Rob! The paint choice was perfect.
Great car, Wheels are perfect since it is based off of a mopar car. The color works. Great job Rob
Mate, that is epic... If I could like it 2000 times myself I would... Really like what you've done here Rob...
That paint job rocks!!! Of course, those wheels help just a touch 😏
Superb transformation! I actually preferred the more subtle color flip! Nice work as always with the detailing mate!
One of the most beautiful muscle cars ever built
Great paint job on this one Rob, the wheels really suited the casting, despite the height makes it look like a rally car and yet that's very cool
Daaaang! That is smoking hot! You’ve put new life into that old Dixie Challenger.
Looks really good! Reminds me of the Chargers that I grew up with. I've always loved those cars!
The Old Orange Paint makes It almost looks like the Hot Wheels Dukes of Hazzard version without the flag on the roof.
It was Hot Wheels attempt to cash in on the Dukes.
Projekt:Kobra No that version is from 1981. They also painted their Baja breaker casting to look like the A-team van around the same time.

Rob, that color shift looks awesome
Really like this one Rob...the subtle paint flip is 👌🏻
I think this is one of your better builds. Simple but unique gentleman hotrod sort of car.
Hey, Rob. Love that color changing paint! Nice job!
SOOO KOOOOOLLLL , Tires and wheels awesome . Paint so right .
As always , great . Mike Espo.
Pretty Challenger rolling down the streets...🎶🎶🎵🎵🎵
That's what I got in mind when I see the result. Carry on!
An INCREDIBLE transformation!!.. All ready for the next trip down the quarter mile!!.. Keep up the great work Bud!!
Beautiful restoration, Rob! Those wheels make that car look great! 👍👍👍👍

Those wheels definitely are an improvement Rob.
Has a much better stance now with the wheels. You know I want this car Rob ;)
Love it - Nearly missed this video. Don't collect hot wheels myself but I like the older ones.
I had one of them way back. Tks for the memorys! Nice job!
Love this casting. All time fav
Amazing restauration Rob, i really like the colour
Hi Rob,another awesome model restored, this reminds me of DRIV3R for the PS2,one exactly the same, those wheels are a good choice.
Nice Challenger. Lots of owner’s back in the heyday years of its production use to lift the rear ends with air shocks. They could adjust the height to compliment the tires and wheels sizes they would use.
Great job, cool colour and wheels, nice taillights 😀
Great muscle car. Color is awesome. Great job as usual.
You even did the hood latches, nice!
She Is Very Speccie In This Here Video Rob After All Your Great Skilled Work Done On It!!! Good Metalic Color On Her As Well!!! Very Cool!!!
Very stylized as many Hot Wheels were from that era. Nice job bringing back to a state fit for display. (Or possibly rollin' around a bit)
Great work on the Challenger and Awsome paint job and wheels and tires . The Challenger was a great muscle cars from Dodge but I like the Charger better .
Gotta love a muscle car, especially Mopar ❤️ great work Rob, as always 😉👍
Yet again, an amazing restoration - love the paint colour.
great job rob and those wheels look great on that car
Bad ass muscle car. I hope it gets over 2000 likes.
A very nice resto Rob! As for the ride height, take a look at the cars set for the Gambler 500. This would be perfect!
Wow! What a transformation!! Nice work as usual!
Those wheels look great on that car
Beautiful job my friend. Have always loved this car and remember having at least one way back when in my youth. Your resto's keep getting better and better. Keep up the awesome work.

Rob it turned out really great. Love the Greenlight Chrysler rally wheels on it 🍻

love it Rob, nice job, would love this car in real life but it would be pricey to run
I have one of these! Mine is worn but you can see most of the decal! I would love to restore it one day!
Your shirts need to say, "Always remember to lubricate your piece" ❤
talk about turning a turd into gold! well done Rob!
Awesome color and wheels it looks amazing 👍👍😊
Amazing charger! I love the color! Great work!
