Great video! Very informative and precise. I would say the M30 would be the easiest to find all matching compared to other C96 models because of having less parts serialized. The M30 is also easier finding an original stock and appropriate to the gun because the attaching iron is blank and the prominent Mauser banner. Thank you for the video!
Great video and hello from the UK also thanks for lifting the lid on my greater understanding of the C96. I have a Large Ring model, S/N; 34245, though am finding there is little background information & details to this build. I believe it should have the hard black rubber grips though this only came with one, the missing one has been replaced with a plain wood part and possibly a one off hand made replacement. Is there a source for these rubber grip replacements? The original stock has a missing locking piece to the pistol grip slide as well as a chunk of wood missing which I may be able to fabricate and fit back in - but obviously not original. I appreciate this is all very specific though it is difficult to find such info, thanks in advance.
Awesome, super helpful video! I have an opportunity to purchase what is represented as an “early model 1930 Broomhandle Mauser”. It has an overall hot-blued finish, as it should, but most of the small parts are fire-blued. The finish appears original as all markings are sharp, especially the final proof mark. The side-rails are machined like the earlier Mausers. It has the correct grips. The serial number is about 50,000 lower than the 1930 in this video so it seems to me quite plausible it indeed is an early production, transitional example of the 1930. I would appreciate informed opinion on the likelihood of the piece in question being authentic but more as to whether a transitional example is worth less than the definitive later production model. I actually like the finer early features (machined side rails, nitrite small parts, etc) but don’t want to make a mistake on its value. Thanks.
Great video on a beautiful example of a C96 commercial model. Imagine what it would cost today to produce a C96 in the same materials with the same finish. My guess would be about 10 Glocks. Not a slam to Glocks. I'm down to 2 from 3 of them. I like most all guns.
Is there is a difference in this 1930 commercial model c96 or in cone hammer c96 model like a quality difference , technology difference or material difference?
Were all the C96 shoulder stocks finished with some varnish? I thought they had an oiled finish like most military wooden forends and stocks? Or is it just some commercial examples that had the light varnish?
It varied depending on the model. The vast majority had a light coat of varnish including the 1930 commercials. In contrast, the Red 9s were bare/unfinished wood.

Finding replacement parts is always tough - a problem for me as well. You can often find spare parts on various online auction sites.

Early 1930 Commercials with fire blued small parts, 5.25" bbl, and fluted rails, are worth the same, or slightly more, than the Late 1930s.
