When playing this movement, I usually hold down the sustain for just a moment after the last note in the left hand before the next chord in the right. My book tells me to finger switch here but I feel like the top line needs to be more legato & that achieves a better effect towards that end
I find myself doing finger switching when playing Chopin Nocturne in Db major op 27, to keep the melody completely legato while i can take my foot off the pedal every once in a while to refresh the baseline
He man, I got a question about one of ur most recent videos where u were ranking famous piano pieces. What would u rank “The Lark” by Glinka? Idk if you have heard of it, but I am about halfway through it and I’m hooked. I would say it’s around high advanced or advanced. I just want to know ur opinion.
As an organist, this is something we organists have to do all the time since we don't have a sustain pedal on our instrument!
i totally agree! super useful
picked up piano give or take a year ago and i feel like im in a perfect place to start thinking about this, thanks!

Hi, Ryan. May I ask what keyboard are you using? Is it good for fast repeated notes?
