I love Enterprise and think it would have been amazing if they had been able to spend a season or two on the development of the Federation. Also I wish T'Pol (and Jolene Blalock) had been given fair dues and normal clothes to show how brilliant an actor she is. Love you Jessie, you share such beautiful moments from your personal experience that make us all grow in consciousness and Trekness xx

Star Trek Enterprise is the series that made me understand why I love Star Trek and what makes it unique compared to every other space opera ever made.
After a thrilling, rousing, and very clearly post 9-11 allegorical season of espionage and action, an exhausted Jon Archer saying "we're explorers, not soldiers" almost brought a tear to my eye.
Enterprise is the most relatable series of the lot; not because it finds Star Trek optimism old fashioned but because it still believed in our capacity to achieve its reality, even if the road to get there is long.

As someone who "recently" got into Star Trek, I must say; the hate around Enterprise seems really out of place. Maybe it was different when it was the only new Star Trek on TV but as someone who could just dip into episodes on Netflix, I have to say that it has a lot of endearing qualities. To be real with you, I found it so endearing that I took a break from watching all of The Next Generation to watch Enterprise start to finish.
Enterprise has a great crew and captain and the secondary characters feel fleshed out in a way that makes me understand why they stick around with the core cast. I feel that the show is able to give greater attention to more of its aliens by virtue of Earth not being aware of so many races.
While watching the other shows, it always feels to me a bit like you already have to know a lot about the franchise as a whole to "really get it" but because everything is a bit more scaled back in Enterprise I feel like both the characters and I are allowed to discover the lore together.
I guess if you are also into the new shows (like i am) you are probably a bit more open to Enterprise (but that is just a theory). If you dont like the show that is fine but i personally think you are missing out

I wrote a full post on it, but the view at the time was that enterprise was a turn around from the things the fan-base wanted to see. Enterprise might be an okay show in retrospect, but it felt at the time to be a mismatch with the spirit of its age- not something fans of tos, tng, ds9, or even voyager, were accustomed to.

@Steve Adams sadly star trek fans from the TNG could not adapt probably and critise the show illogically
This star trek Enterprise is way before Kirk era and most of all relevant to pur time if fans think wider and deeper they should appreciate not hate it or despise it even though I am new to star trek
I Love Vaughn Armstrong by the way as admiral Forrest and CAPTAiN JOHNATHAN ARCHER and COMMANDER SHRAN AND TELLERITE AMBASSADOR AND SOVAL

I like Enterprise a lot. I like that they were not all powerful compared to many ships they met and felt very vulnerable. It made space scary like it should be. The politics is more subtle and complex showing the Vulcans as patronizing frenemies who got their relationship with the Andorians completely messed up.
I also like that it was one of the first Hi Def shows.

One of the great things about Enterprise is that characters learn from their previous exploits. "The show" also remembers and even in the first two series is less episodic than everything except maybe ds9. The naivety, the outclassed ship, the fact even Archer had a broom closet for quarters and, (God love it) The Grappler: All these things allow Enterprise a special place in my heart.

Confession: Enterprise is tied for my favorite alongside Deep Space Nine. These two Star Trek series had main characters that started out not getting along and bond to be the best of friends by the very end. I wish Enterprise had a full 7 season run and a sequel series. The potential the 22nd century had for stories was endless.

I'm gonna have to admit that I actually really liked the Trip/T'Pol romance. They showed both sides making mistakes, and that they, once they both started to realize they had something deeper than will-they-won't-they might have a more mature, equal relationship.
...then the final episode happened. I perfectly understand why most of the actors have been acerbic (Blalock was outright vicious, well-deservedly so) about it. And why the novels ignored it as "combo of bad historians and faked records". Heck, even one of the Killer Bees admitted it was a bad episode.

I didn’t really care all that much for Enterprise until my kids picked it up. It’s their favorite of the Star Trek series as well. They’d all sing the theme song together while I held up a lighter. Of course, right when the show was hitting its stride it got canceled. They had finally found the right formula by doing several small story arcs instead of one large one. Something I wish Discovery would start looking into.

  • @williamblackmon9136

What I love and lot of people dislike is that the crew of the NX-01 didn't know what they were doing in the beginning.
It was the first earth ship capable of going a super long distance in a reasonable amount of time. None of them knew what to expect or how to react. Eventually they learned. With the other Treks you had seasoned crews with tested captains.
Another thing that drew me in was the technology. Star Trek has always had some serious futuristic scifi borderline fantasy stuff going on, which is awesome, but when I watch Enterprise everything feels so familiar and futuristic. The transporter is new and most of the crew is wary of it. They use shuttle pods instead. They don't have tractor beams yet so they have magnets and hooks. They use actual torpedoes. They don't have shields so they have thick hull plating that can be polarized. They push buttons to open the doors. It's just so familiar. The ship itself is just a little less theoretical and more practical to current day. (For scifi anyway)
My only issue with the show is that trying to retcon the way klingons looked in ToS was just silly and not needed. Most people understand that a lot of what we know about the star trek universe came after ToS with the movies and TNG.

There's something about ENT that I always found enjoyable that I couldn't find with Voyager or TNG. I like them, and they're good, but I find myself more drawn to Enterprise than the other two. Doesn't beat DS9 or TOS for me, but it's still up there.
Edit: Although my favorite thing about the ENT fandom, is that all the gays took one look at Reed and went "ours". Rick Berman die mad about it.

Enterprise was my "coming home from school and seeing reruns on the SciFi Channel" show. Although it certainly has its flaws, the idea of seeing a Star Trek show all about, well, the culmination of that "long road... from there to here" was really inspiring (in a way, this is very much like why I so love First Contact). I only watched DS9 recently, and while I really love it now as well, Enterprise was the one that really introduced me to the ST universe.
Right then, back to my rewatch of Enterprise.

First of all, thanks Jessie for being vulnerable and sharing your story with us. You are awesome! And I love your takes on Star Trek.
Now on to my opinions. I really like Enterprise. Yes, I wish that the cast was a little more diverse, and I wish we spent a little less time staring at T'pol in her underwear greased down with decon gel. Overall, though, I think it's really great. I ove how rough it is without all of the magic technology of the rest of Star Trek. Everything feels higher stakes because they have less technology to rely on. They aren't on Picard's Enterprise with its nice carpets and replicators and holodecks. Seeing them work with the grappler and their wimpy torpedoes is awesome. I think the Xindi and the Suliban are great and scary antagonists. I also love the dynamics between humans and Vulcans. I think it is realistic, and really interesting, to see the human resentment against Vulcans and to see Archer work past that. The interactions between Starfleet and MACO people is also interesting.
The characters are well defined and actually develop as people. One of the nice aspects of there being less characters is that the writers had time to develop strong friendships, like that between T'pol and Archer. (Side note, I like how T'Pol becomes more emotionally vulnerable the more time she spends with humans).
Although I prefer more serialized storytelling, ENT does a phenomenal job of linking standalone episodes together. They make lots of little callback references to other episodes in dialogue. And when something happens in a previous episode, it carries through to the next (unlike Voyager where the ship can literally be falling apart at the end of an episode and look like it just came out of space dock the next episode). Like in one episode the ship hits a mine, and in the next episode they have a storyline about fixing the ship.
The think I like the best, though, is this: The humans of TNG, DS9, etc, feel very far away from the humans of today. We hear Picard talking about the "evolved" human race, but it's hard to imagine how humanity got there. The crew of Enterprise are more like us. They are impulsive and a little irresponsible. They make mistakes. But everything they see is completely new to them. We get to feel a sense of wonder as we see the wonder they feel when they first meet new species. Even your typical "alien of the day" episode feels fresh and interesting because it is something incredibly new to the crew. We get to see the crew grow up, get better at their jobs, become more mature, work past biases, and go from adolescent explorers to people who are ready to be leaders of an interstellar Federation of Planets.
And the theme song is great!
    Definitely underrated Trek.

Enterprise was also my first Star Trek. I remember being Trek-curious before that, and I think I even gave TOS a shot as a teen. But it just didn't click with me at the time. But then Star Trek Enterprise began airing on tv, and that was amazing. It was unlike anything I had seen at the time in my life. Maybe it was the style that was more familiar and "modern" to my teenage sensibilities, giving me that 'in' with the series. It introduced me to the Star Trek world, and I worked my way backwards after that (Voyager, then DS9, then TNG and finally TOS). So yeah, Enterprise is a good series and deserves some love.

Enterprise is my favorite Trek as well, and I had a similar things with Enterprise. My mom was a huge TNG fan and she had shown me the reruns of TNG on BBC America, but it never truly landed for me. Until I found Enterprise that is. I caught a rerun of Enterprise on the Syfy channel while I was in high school and I was interested in it (I think it was Strange New World from Season 1). It prompted me to find more reruns on Syfy and eventually using Netflix to rent the DVDs for the show. Instead of my mom sharing her Trek with me, I was able to share My Trek, one she had never even heard of, with her (she had originally dismissed DS9 and VOY for not being TNG - she has since gone back post Enterprise and watched both shows, and loved them both). I feel like each Trek series is similar to each of the Doctors from Doctor Who: You never forget your first. While TNG was the first for both of us, Enterprise felt like it *our* first Trek show (not to mention the personal reasons as well), Enterprise will always hold a special spot for me, as it not only got me into Trek as a whole, but it was also my first real "adult" show and showed a path to a better future.
Also I'm mad at RUclips for not recommending this channel to me sooner, as I love everything here

I like Enterprise a lot. I liked the "new frontier" aspect and loved most of the characters very much. Archer, I blow hot and cold about. He's a little too shouty and at times Bakula's performance borders on hammy. And poor Meriwether didn't get much to do AT ALL. I didn't like the producers' insistence on making T'Pol into "eye candy" but other than that I feel it rates above Voyager in many ways dramatically, and above TOS consistency-wise. Again, I love the characters. I always do, in Star Trek. It's just, there are soooo many white males on the ship. The producers totally discounted the likelihood that East and South Asia will have the preponderance of the world's population.
I really wish they had featured Commander Shran more! Absolutely loved his burgeoning friendship with Archer.

I'm one of those people with anxiety who finds comfort in watching familiar tv. So I watch at least one episode of Trek every night, and although I do skip around series and episodes, I find Enterprise to be the easiest to watch. I like the familiarity of it being so close to our time, I like that the technobabble is almost decipherable and my favorite thing is NO HOLODECK. I agree that its not the best Trek, but the cast are all endearing, the stories are pretty great (if derivative of the earlier series) and its fun to see the origins of some of the canon too.

I am so glad I found your channel. I remember when Enterprise premiered. I liked it, but it felt a little bland. It wasn't until the Xindi storyline began that it really sparked up for me. Enterprise holds a special place in my heart because Archer and his crew were the first. Pioneers. Really no protocols, definitely no Prime Directive, and making mistakes that future Starfleet generations would learn from. Really no reinforcements, no space stations and their only allies were the Vulcans. Those first 83 crew members, and Porthos, were truly brave.

Archers enterprise was the first one i watched from start to end. I was like 10 or so and it was the first star trek i gave a chance bc the other stuff seemed "old" to me. My father was a huge fan but he also loved tennis which i hate. His both and only hobbies(hes on the authism spectrum). And as my sister started playing tennis i was kinda forgotten, he just didnt know what to do with me. And through archer i learned to love janeway, sisko and all the other great stuff. I went into Enterprise expecting not to like it. I had been taken in by its reputation as 'the bad one', and didn't expect much. But before I knew it, I was taken along for the journey - and I loved it. For me, Enterprise is a prequel made for the right reasons - to explore something new and answer the question; how did the federation first come together? Suddenly we're in a world where there is no prime directive, the starship is fairly flimsy and outmatched at every turn - and its only the stalwart belief in the mission that keeps it together.
Enterprise, like so many star trek series', took a while to get going, but once it did it did some phenomenal stuff - and you have to remember that Enterprise had to deal with a load more interference from Berman - which always makes good Trek harder to make. Still, series three in many ways fulfilled a promise Voyager failed to live up to, and series four added so much to the world of Star Trek, that I'm eternally grateful. I wish to goodness it had been given another three seasons.
Also, Soval and Shran are the best.

I normally don't get involved in fandoms, so when I heard that Enterprise was largely hated after watching it I was kind of surprised? I get that it has it's rough edges but not much more than other Trek series, and it has some genuinely great writing! My guess is most of the people wrote it off before the first intro ended for... *ahem* reasons.
It's different than other Trek, but it's literally set before the federation properly exists, of course it's going to be different. In a lot of ways it's about exploring why the federation exists as it does, which is super interesting! I would bet money that if you pitched the over-arching themes and plot to most Trek fans they'd think it sounds like a really good idea.

I also liked that Season 3 was serious and dark. I wish we could have seen more of the consequences that the Xindi War would have had on Archer and the crew. Then served as a corrections officer for 5 years because worf was one of my favorite characters and i wanted tobe tactical able to defend myself so i worked corrections on deathrow Florida, now I am finishing up my bachelor's degree tobe a manager in healthcare administration..

Got ST: ENT on disc; I always loved it, from the very first episode, because its fresh and tells the story before The Federation, in the very infancy of Starfleet, when there was no prime directive, when transporter beams were met with dread; when Vulcans and Humans were adversarial, which makes the friendship of the Captain and Trip with T'pol all the more compelling. The characters were well written, the plots were good, could have been better, but still enjoyed them. Scott Bakula was a very convincing Captain, that excelled in mentoring, encouraging, inspiring, and a very capable leader, but vulnerable as well.

For the longest time, I did not get into Enterprise. Only really got into it recently but only because of Season 3+4. Shame it got cancelled when it finally found it's footing(Took less time then Voyager!). Plus after new trek, I quite appreciated the more 20 episode per season with Season 4 in particular having a great mix of serial and procedural episodes so had the best of both worlds. Just a shame it had a bad ending episode.

Supposedly the final episode was written like the Babylon 5 season four finale, in case it was cancelled they would have a slight bookend to make sure part of the show was cancelled. It could have ended better as the writers linked Elizabeth's fate to the fate of Enterprise, they found out the show was cancelled before finishing Terra Prime so she was killed off. It had a better idea than anything except Voyager, even if the writing didn't become good until the latter half of season two.

PS: enterprise is one of my less favorite treks, but mostly cuz Scott Bakula is a dick and he’s from StL which is my hometown and kinda known for being full of weirdly friendly ppl (like, I didn’t realize till I moved that it’s NOT normal to strike up combos with strangers in grocery stores). Also because it was a weird casting choice for that role. They chose a classically trained Shakespearean actor, which is true to the theme of TNG-voyager, but the role was a much more casual “space cowboy” type role like Kirk was. I think they could have had the same cast but made Archer a bit more buttoned up character and it would have worked, but it played out kind of disjointed imo, between Bakula’s acting style and Archers character.

Jordy Griffin > I like Star Trek enterprise because it's the only show that has a theme song to it.
      Fun/weird/shocking fact:
The iconic music theme 2 the original Star Trek TV series *had actual lyrics*! To my knowledge, the lyrics were never used in any of the aired episodal TV broadcasts (unlike the lyrics 2 the music theme of the 70s/80s reboot of Buck Rogers, which *did* get used during the closing credits of @ least 1 episode) -- & if U ever find a copy of said lyrics , you'll immediately find out why.
When I was in high school, I took Music Theory as 1 of the music department's elective classes, & we classmates got access 2 the teacher's personal music library -- which we sometimes browsed thru on the occasions when the teacher was late arriving 2 conduct the day's class. 1 day a classmate (I forget who) was leafing thru a sheet music book of nothing but TV show theme songs ... & suddenly he yelled out, "Hey! There's lyrics to Star Trek!!"
The entire class gathered around him 2 look ... & we practically laughed our heads off @ how unbelievably cheesy the lyrics were. What stuck most in my head was the lyric about the "green-skinned beauty" from another planet (it is real, I swear) -- a clear reference 2 the original series pilot featuring Captain Pike.
2 this day, it remains 1 of the most obscure bits of Trek trivia of all time.

Your story with how your dad introduced you to Star Trek and Enterprise is very similar to mine. My dad introduced me to TNG which had been off the air for years by that point, never really cared for DS9 or Voyager either. But when Enterprise came around we were going to make it "our Star Trek" - we watched the first couple episodes together when they came on TV but we both sort of drifted off and stopped. We did something similar for Battlestar Galactica, but that also just disappeared eventually. I got back into ENT myself about season 4 but don't think my dad ever saw it all.

I’ll watch enterprise eventually, but why didn’t people care for it at the time?
    1. It was the first time the Star Trek took a step back. Everything up until enterprise was about advancement of the framework. So at the time when you said prequel to the fandom, it didn’t match with the spirit of the age- in the early 2000s no less, a time which was supposed to be even more future focused than the 1990s.
    2. Scott Bakula was a throw-back to a decade earlier. To me it was just really cheesy to see the guy I remembered from early childhood reruns of Quantum Leap in charge of a Star Trek crew.
    3. The title sequence was a departure. The visuals, great- a departure, but a welcome one. But the song wasn’t just vocal, it lacked gravitas and pageantry. The instrumentals of the previous 15 years of trek set a mood that you were about to watch something serious. Not in the sense that it wasn’t fun, but in the sense that it was a serious entry into the sci fi genre.
All of this combined into a feeling that Trek was moving away from me. Of course, it didn’t help that voyager just wasn’t all that good, and I had stopped watching it pretty early on. Another factor of the era was that at about the same time, the nbc and the sci fi channel were putting out so much new and great sci fi television. For the first time, Star Trek just wasn’t the flagship of televised space opera.
I’ll give Enterprise a watch to judge it on its merits, ultimately it’s sin was being a Star Trek that was barely noticed, resulting in its premature cancellation and a trek-less decade.

Thanks for sharing your story and showing some appreciation for Enterprise Jessie! My dad recently introduced me to Enterprise and its probably my favorite Star Trek show (like you I don’t think it’s the best) so this meant a lot to me. Enterprise just felt like my kind of Star Trek even after watching TNG and many of the newer shows. Even before it “got good” Enterprise’s first two seasons had many good episodes and even planted the seeds for seasons 3 & 4 to expand upon despite some definite low points (which isn’t uncommon for the start of Star Trek shows).
The show definitely isn’t perfect but I think it’s better than most give it credit for.

Never understood why there was so much shade thrown at Enterprise. With Scott Bacula as captain and a great cast I always thought it was entertaining and interesting for all the reasons you detail. There was so much to explore it's a shame UPN pulled the plug. And as far as the theme song and opening credits....come on man (to quote someone famous), showing humanity stumbling into exploration, implying the huge mistakes made on our own planet (so relevant today) and so desperately trying not to repeat them yet sometimes falling back to the worst we can be. It challenged the viewer; "What would you do to save all of humanity?" for example. The song and melody are hopeful, yet have a melancholy undertone that is ultimately uplifting... come on man!!!! So much better than Voyager's forgettable tinniness (is that a word? Is now) and images that don't even make sense physically (as cool as it is to see Voyager skimming thru the planetary ring there is a whole video on how silly it is). Much love to you Jessie !!!!

And like you, a lot of it is nostalgia and personal reasons, I know on a technical level TNG and DS9 are better, and to an extent I can agree that those are more rewatchable than Voyager. But Voyager has a special place in my heart as being the show that was on TV when I was young, the first Star Trek show that introduced me to the ideas and story elements that make up Star Trek. People say Kirk or Picard, but my Captain will always be Janeway.

How, we each come to Star Trek is a very personal thing. For myself, after coming home from school each day, I started watching the 1960's TV series, this was back in the early 1970's when it was in re-runs. Getting to view the future with Kirk, Spock, McCoy, Uhura, and the rest of the cast was both bright and hopeful. Plus the female Klingon uniforms and the female Federation uniforms each with their short dresses, nylons, and knee high boots were and still are a joy to behold.
After the 1960's series, as an African American male, I have the most pride with the series Star Trek Deep Space Nine. However, the series that, I truly enjoy the most is Star Trek Enterprise. It even opened up my eyes to the possibility of planets with two or more human like species. In addition, there might also be planets (like Xindi) where different types of life forms each rule together.

In all honesty though - T'Pol's 'three days' comment made me laugh harder than anything up to that point. Also - the alien woman didn't think conception was possible, and the ritual they went under had many broader uses than reproduction. It's a bit ambigious, and feels more like a fairly innocent mistake - plus, she takes full responsibility for the child once she finds out.

@@fitz7231 IKR, I loved T'pol's reaction to that. I think it showed she had feelings for him early on.
I only had a problem with it when I started reversing roles. If a human did something with an alien that could lead to reproduction and kept it from the alien, saying it's a "game". I would feel that was wrong.
Also, if it happened to Hoshi or T'pol would it still be okay to laugh at the situation?
That's why I would love a discussion. Am I reading into things too much or should we look at this episode with a critical eye?

It didn't have the budget or the quality of production, which fit the first time warp drive ship NX-01 Enterprise. The jargon and technology to articulate it didn't exist at the time, with captain's logs listed with Gregorian calendar dates. I love this series, despite its flaws. I got into this franchise fairly recently, other than watching a few movies I loved years ago, so I don't have much to compare it to, other than knowing I prefer Voyager and that by the time I finish TOS I doubt I'd prefer TOS.
I finished it today, and it was a great and surprising experience. I rarely identify with characters. My favorite is Porthos, because he is a dog, but Hoshi is a great linguist I aspire to be like. Reed was a bigger surprise to me. I never expected to identify with a character like him, but like others I saw online, I interpreted him as aromantic. It was even a bit triggery for me once, and I cried (lol I do it a lot, but I had trouble functioning when that happened). I also loved not seeing him as asexual, despite me being ace, because, while this isn't real representation, there are barely any characters like that, even less than aroace characters.
I also interpret him as someone who faces internalized arophobia, which is important to me in many levels. I'm sad that I only found a few fanfics in which he is on the aromantic spectrum. I found some adorable fanfics in which he is asexual, although I don't interpret him as asexual on the series (I found a bunch of people who do, and I'm pretty curious why. I'm happy people got to see him as ace, or any identity) and got into some very charming fics in which he is in a romantic relationship with Trip, which I understand and love and I might start reading more and more of these fanfics.

I always find it interesting how things repeat themselves down through the years. I grew up in the 80s, so TOS and the first couple of movies were my childhood Treks. TNG didn't start on TV over here till 1990, so I was 13 and deeply into SF of all stripes by that point.
But because TOS was only on TV sporadically, and the first two movies generally got shown once or twice a year, it was a big deal when I got to see them. Home video wasn't going to be a big thing for a few more years at that point. So my major touchpoint for Trek was the Book and Tape sets for Wrath of Khan and Search for Spock. These were books of about 30 pages length, with a summary of the movie with appropriate photos, and then the tape had an actor narrating the story, with clips from the movie spliced in and a sound effect to let you know when it was time to turn the page if you were reading along. These were some of my go-to listening on road trips with my family, sitting in the back of the car with a Walkman on. In fact, because of the lag between movies getting into rotation on TV and cinema releases, I knew the plot of Search for Spock from that book and tape, and hadn't even seen the movie before I went to see Voyage Home in the cinema when I was 9. I had a similar experience with the original Transformers movie, where I was 16 before I saw the movie and only knew the story from the book and tape and the Marvel comics adaptation (both of which massively downplayed the carnage in the battle for Autobot City!). I've been able to find some of these on RUclips while I typed this comment out, so I might have to go check them out now.
So while I don't share your emotional resonance with Enterprise, I definitely empathise with and appreciate where it comes from.

Good point about some of the personal stuff about bullies. Far from all of them, but a fair number came to respect me as we got a little further into high school. It was maybe closer to the Sixties than it now is from then for kids these days chronologically, but such things are possible.

For some reason, I like to imagine the Faith of the Heart lyrics being recited by some guy with a thick Maine accent.
"Been a long road, getting from they-ya to hey-ya. Eeyyep... Reckon I got that faith of haht, y'know. Eyyep, gonna go were ma haht takes me maybe."

Star Trek TV is like pizza to me- there is no bad Trek, but I favorite some more than others. I remember years ago when Enterprise came out and it was made quite clear that fan input was not going to be a part of it- no script submissions, etc. They wanted to go in a different direction. I think that was a mistake. When Enterprise came out I had a good couple decades of watching a lot of Star Trek and this one seemed to be missing something. I watched the show faithfully and appreciated the good moments. I also thought that some of the characters had really good chemistry together. Then TV Guide came out with an article titled something like "What's Wrong with Star Trek." This was fifteen years ago, so forgive me if I'm not exact. At the end of the TV Guide article, they asked fans to submit suggestions about what they would like to see happen with the show to make it better. They said they would deliver all the responses to the show for review. Yes, the original show got cancelled, but no other Star Trek afterwards had been cancelled so Enterprise being in trouble was a big deal at the time. The main point I made was that the characters didn't seem passionate about anything. I said it seemed like there was a fist fight every other episode in the original series, because the characters were passionate about things. I have no doubt that got read, because I seem to recall a few months later characters on Enterprise started throwing punches. Also, they brought back in some of the old writers and the old story lines and things were going great. Unfortunately, the show was put on the Friday night 8pm slot which was the kiss of death back then. I think that Enterprise didn't fully get to have a second chance which is really too bad. But it just goes to show how important it is to respect your fan base. It's been a while. Maybe I'll watch it again. Oh, and I also wanted to say that LA does have a lot of good things to offer, so while you are here I hope you get a chance to see them. Live long and prosper.

Gotta admit, when it first aired I was not a fan. To be fair I did try but the 1st season on it's surface was a pretty boring series of "Archer and Trip and maybe Reed get stuck on a crappy space station, or a moon, or a mine.. etc." I didn't look deeper to see what the show offered. So I was one of many who didn't really pay attention or care when it was cancelled early.
But several years later when streaming -ahem- *services*... yes, services not websites, hit the webs I went back and re-watched Enterprise from beginning to end and... yeah I think it's great. Enterprise had a lot of things going for it. Great captain, Awesome, gorgeous ship with so much character, great cast of characters (Archer, Trip, Reed, T'POL, Phlox, Hoshi? All great....except for their criminal misuse of Travis Mayweather... but the developed friendship between Archer and T'Pol was fucking phenomenal and a joy to watch and I regret missing out on it when it initially aired.) and honestly the Xindi War/Expanse arc was balls to the wall. It was probably the best Star Trek movie ever made. It was really hitting its stride when it got cancelled and I feel bad about it. Enterprise deserved better. If Voyager can get 7 seasons, clearly Enterprise deserved that many at least. I hope the cast knows how much people loved the show in retrospect.
But at least we have it to watch over and over. Here in Canada on a channel called CTV Sci-Fi (formally Space) it shows Star Trek shows every week. Mondays - TOS, Tuesdays - TNG, Wednesdays - VOY, Thursdays - DS9 and Fridays belong to ENT, and I never miss an episode. I've definitely got *FAITH OF THE HEART* by now.
I also think Archer is one of my favourite Star Trek Captains in the series. For me it's Sisko, Archer, Picard, Janeway and then Kirk. Sorry Kirk fans, I just didn't grow up watching TOS :P.
