I punch 2 dots of each color cardstock using a regular hole punch. One I put on the top of each ink refill cap. I put the other on the inkpad where the name is visible so I know which inkpads already have their ink refill. When my catalog hard copy arrives, I will be studying it and do tabs differently than in the past. I’m not sure what they will look like but know they will need to look differently.
Color families never made sense to me, so I was so gratified to hear that someone as knowledgeable as you agreed with me. TFS your thoughts and downloads. YOU ARE A STAR.
They make sense for getting started... it's a great way to get 10 coordinating colors in your favorite palette (bright colors, spring colors, fall colors).... but once you have them all, I like the rainbow order for storage and use.
Absolutely love your videos. For storing DSP , for the 12 x 12 DSP I use 2 gallon zip lock bag. For the 6 x 6 DSP paper I use. a quart size zip lock just cut the sealing strip off the top. I run it thru my stampin up paper cutter to slice off the slicing strip.
I have never « retired » any of the colors ever since I started using SU supplies in the early 2000’s, lol! I always seem to find an old card stock that matches or blends wonderfully with new DSP, etc. I even have 2 unopened packages of the 2007-2008 card stock from the first In Colors…and the inks…I think that’s the year!
Well, just being a customer and not a demo, I certainly never had everything I wanted, but I just keep reinking old favorite ink pads, and buying a few new things every year…and working through that ever growing stash of goodies! I have a wonderfully big craft area with lots of space!
I keep my cardstock and ink pads in a rainbow order too, my husband made a wood slot shelf similar to yours years ago when I worked at home, and a long desk with tons of drawers for ink pads etc that was my father in laws, so special 💕
You were my first source for the ROYGBIV Stampin'Up colours. I agree 100% about how SU has arranged the Neutral colours. The company should go with the same formula as the colour wheel instead of Brights, Regals, Subtles and Neutrals.
Thank you Patti… I just found you and I subscribed. I am going to take advantage of your offer and will print out the ink and paper names. It’s the end of May. I hope it is still there. Thanks again loved your video.
Whoever asked for the sleeves for 6 x 6 paper.. from Amazon I get 7 x 7 outer record sleeves from Big Fudge pack of 50. And for my 12 x 12 dsp I get 12.75 clear record sleeves from EVEO 100 per pack. Can’t quote prices but extremely affordable. Thank you Patty for your videos..always full of great tips
I just had a catalog jump put of the mailbox today. There is a color wheel of all the colors on page 132. New format for the catalog. I like it - won’t take long to memorize!
Watching the replay in Illinois. 😊 Thank You so much Patty for all your info on the Colors of SU! Let me share with you how foolish I am. Over the years, when purchasing an ink pad...I never ordered a re-inker!!!😢 Color me foolish. My goal now is to hopefully go back and get what I can.
I’m just a hobby demonstrator and I cannot with wild wheat or copper clay. I won’t buy them at all. But I absolutely love ALL the new in-colors this year.
Patty, thank you. So happy this video was suggested to me. I will be back for your catalog walkthrough. I was so confused looking at the pdf but when I finally sat down with the hard copy, it was as bad. I’m just at that age I don’t like change anymore. LOL Rainbow order never made sense to me because it was so hard to do it without resources and just in general not the way I craft. I was buying something new it made sense, but if I was using up old stuff, I struggled to find what I needed to match . As you stated what works for you works for you so I just wanted to mention what I do in case it helps somebody else. I have all the colors except a few that I’ve worn out that I can’t replace. I keep it in rainbow order, but it was too hard to make it perfect. So inside each grouping, I just have it alphabetical. Why this works for me is because if I know I want to read, I just go to the reds look through the names and pull a couple that I think would work for my project. But if I pull a DSP with a red from let’s say 2010 😂I can find that red by going to my reds and looking for the name. My Stamping up items were the last thing I did this to. I realized when I wanted a yellow embellishment, I would need to to think about what I might have and start pulling containers of eyelets clips, what have you, and looking for yellow because each container would have the same item in eight or 10 colors. Now I just have a drawer if it’s yellow, it goes in the drawer and when I’m looking for a yellow embellishment, I just go to the one drawer that’s how I crafted, I went for it and it is so much easier for me. I hope this helps somebody.
Thank you so much for your nurturing nature ❤ Eager to download those resources. I’m going to try using the center of a paper plate and make my own wheel 😂
I am watching the replay also. This is video is so helpful!! I store my 6x6 like you, but I put the individual stacks in a quart zip lock freezer bag and I just cut off the "zip" part and they work great. Thanks for a great video!!
Thank you so much for the resource info and downloads you provided. I agree with you about Wild Wheat. To me, it’s a shade of gold and belongs in the Neutrals. I, however, keep my In Colors stored separately so that I don’t have to rearrange the order every year.
Thank you, thank you, thank you! The timing of seeing this was perfect as my new shelving unit arrives tomorrow and I can do it “right”! Also, I agree about the neutrals. What are they thinking!?
This was very helpful, Patty. I'm new to Stampin' Up. While I adore the colors, I'm overwhelmed by the idea of *50* colors of cardstock, ink pads and blend markers ($10 or $12 x 50). Wouldn't it be great if there was a "sampler pack" assortment of all the colors available at a special discount? And how about bundle prices on the markers and ink pads? I'll never be able to afford to get all 50 of everything, which is sad.
Yes, there are assortment packs for all of the color families and in colors. If you are one of my customers, please email me so I can send you the links to shop.
I prefer rainbow order but I'd have to switch your second and first column shelves so red started on top left and went that way so I visualize in a ROYGBIV order or my brain short circuits lol. I could never do the color families either.
I think Wild Wheat and Boho Blue are beautiful. However, I think Wild Wheat and Pebbled Path should be in the Neutral Family. Thank you for all your suggestions. I store my paper and blends in rainbow colors but my ink pads in Color Family.
Hi Patty This was a fabulous video. I went straight to your blog and printed the rainbow chart and rearranged my cardstock. I love it so much better. Now to my Ink pads and blending pens. LOL! I agree on the wild wheat too! Very strange color. I think I have used it one time and just can't get into it. I love your organization videos so keep them coming! Thank you.
Hi Patty - this is the first time watching you, and it was the perfect video for me to start with. You inspired me to get the ikea kallax unit, along with storage units from stamp-n-storage. It will be fun to get myself organized! Question: can you give me the dimensions of your 6” paper plastic mdesign storage bin? I want to make sure I order the right one on Amazon. Thanks!
All of my retired products go into my mystery boxes. Here was the last time I offered them: pattystamps.com/2024/03/mystery-box-offer-from-patty-while-supplies-last.html
thanks for this video and sharing resources on your blog! i also think in roygbiv order. and i think wild wheat is the color of baby diarrhea so i did not buy anything in that color!
Patty, those were those wonderful tips. Thank you so very much for sharing and taking the time to explain everything so well I do have one question though I would really love to get on your next cruise that the one that’s going to Alaska if you could send out some informationabout that I would truly appreciate it. I know 2024 I think is booked but if you could let me know which one is available I would truly appreciate it. Thank you so very much.
Our 2025 Alaska cruise filled right away when it was announced last November but you are welcome to use the waiting list form: pattystamps.com/alaska2025
Just wondering if you have or know anyone who might have a complete listing of all the Stampin Up colors in rainbow order? Sometimes it's just a matter of opinion isn't it? I mean where do you store your wild wheat cardstock is a very common question these days lol.
It isn't just you. Wild wheat is an odd color, not yellow, not green, not tan. Another demonstrator said that next to wrong color, it can actually be putrid. lol. But I love it in the IC palette it's in.
Patty, question re: your cardstock storage… how many storage solutions do you have? Are they sitting on top of something? How many sheets does each color section hold? It seems like a double pack of cardstock. Are each unit connected to the others? Thank you! I’m in the market for cardstock storage solution.
Yes, as I mentioned on my blog post.. there are 6 of them stacked together. I have 2 packs in each section. I don't have them connected, but you could.
Just wondering, I see that rainbow order starts with r for red, yet you have the reds in the second row. Before I rearrange everything I was wondering why the first row to the left is blues? In my mind the first row to the left should be reds?

great tips!
I use rainbow order except for in color sets, I put that at the end. It means I don’t have to reorder my stuff every year, only on refresh years.
definitely a great way to do it!
Color families never made sense to me, so I was so gratified to hear that someone as knowledgeable as you agreed with me. TFS your thoughts and downloads. YOU ARE A STAR.

Fabulous solutions!
Then I just put my label in the corner. When the DSP is all used up, then I use the ziploc bag for the next DSP that I can not live without! 😂
Thank you, Thank you! Wild Wheat had me stumped also. Now it makes so much sense to put it with the Neutrals.
Oh I'm so glad you liked the tip!
I have never « retired » any of the colors ever since I started using SU supplies in the early 2000’s, lol! I don’t retire my stash either. Can’t afford to. I still have old CS too, and DSP. ☺
what a glorious collection that must be!! I wish I had space for that!!
Well, just being a customer and not a demo, I certainly never had everything I wanted, but I just keep reinking old favorite ink pads, and buying a few new things every year…and working through that ever growing stash of goodies! I have a wonderfully big craft area with lots of space!

I looove Wild wheat becuz it’s neutral and looks great with so many other colors.

P.S. big fan of Roy G Biv. Thank you for sharing. ❤
Would be nice if Stampin’Up would make the complete wheel available for sale. Thanks for all the tips.
yes, please suggest that to them!

I have incorporated so many of your Organizational Ideas. It has helped me to remember to use my embellishments and ribbons more. Thank you!
yay!! happy to hear that!
Have always had mine in rainbow order and that makes the most sense to me. Color wheel in the new catalog is a great help in arranging the order.
yes, so helpful!!
Patty, thanks so much for sharing your labels and for your color storage system. I really appreciate you!
thank YOU so much!!

Watching the replay in Illinois. 😊
Thank You so much Patty for all your info on the Colors of SU!
Let me share with you how foolish I am. Over the years, when purchasing an ink pad...I never ordered a re-inker!!!😢 Color me foolish. My goal now is to hopefully go back and get what I can.
There is still time to get them.. you will love your freshly reinked pads!!
I’m just a hobby demonstrator and I cannot with wild wheat or copper clay. I won’t buy them at all. But I absolutely love ALL the new in-colors this year.
I get it!

Thank you for the organizing tips! I currently have my colors in their families but love the rainbow order better! Going to rearrange mine!
Let me know how you like it Beverly!!
I purchase at least two reinkers. Every time I order. I still have 24 pink pirouette reinkers. I covet them. The best pink!
I loved that pink, too!!

I so agree with you. Wild Wheat belongs in the neutrals
I love this color
Very informative/ thanks
thanks for watching!
Where did you suggest that we make the suggestion for SU to sell color wheels to demonstrators who didn’t go to the Houston.
in the suggestion box on the demo site or email DS
Patty, could you come visit me and only me organize my stamping area? You are amazing!
That sounds like fun!!
Such a fun video, great information for organising, thank you so much!
Great idea, thanks so much for all your help!!
Thanks
#replay I'm going to be ordering next month
thanks in advance for your order!
Great video! Thank you for sharing your tips. What do you do with your retired products?
All of my retired products go into my mystery boxes. Here was the last time I offered them: pattystamps.com/2024/03/mystery-box-offer-from-patty-while-supplies-last.html

Hello patty nicing you. I'm watching a replay
Patty, those were those wonderful tips. Thank you so very much for sharing and taking the time to explain everything so well I do have one question though I would really love to get on your next cruise that the one that’s going to Alaska if you could send out some informationabout that I would truly appreciate it. Our 2025 Alaska cruise filled right away when it was announced last November but you are welcome to use the waiting list form: pattystamps.com/alaska2025
Thank you for getting right back to me. I truly appreciate that. I’ve already put all the information in in case there is a cancellation.
Are those downloads still available? I love labels. That wheat to me implies something in the brown family but seeing the pad it looks more green.
Yes, please click in the description where it says "downloads mentioned in the video".
Please show us in your demo how you store your embellishments. Thank you
Back to watch the replay. So I can see the beginning.
Hope it was helpful!
Just wondering if you have or know anyone who might have a complete listing of all the Stampin Up colors in rainbow order? Sometimes it's just a matter of opinion isn't it? I mean where do you store your wild wheat cardstock is a very common question these days lol.
Aside from the lists I provide each year I don't have any other lists, sorry. I am sure you'll find it on google or YT.
#Replay There is Wild Wheat and Bubble Bath together on two prints in Poetic Expressions.
thank you!
It isn't just you. Wild wheat is an odd color, not yellow, not green, not tan. Another demonstrator said that next to wrong color, it can actually be putrid. lol. But I love it in the IC palette it's in.
I have wild wheat as a green
Yes, that would be a great choice!!
Hi Patty, thank you so much for this very helpful video. Would you please list the order of what you call neutrals? Thank you!
they are on the downloadable file or you can put them in any order
Mitosu Crafts is selling the color wheel. They are in the UK.
I saw that yesterday!😊
thanks, I think it might be temporarily unavailable
@@pattystamps Hmmmmm... It was a .pdf file, so no actual product. Maybe SU told them nope. ???
@@pattystamps it’s available- pdf download
ctmh customer for years , would like to know if you have a comparison of ctmh and stamping up inks . Thank you for your vidio
I'm sorry but I don't have any CTMH inks or even a catalog.. so I have nothing to compare to. I bet someone has done that already though.
I prefer alphabetical order. Rainbow is definitely prettier though.
I'm so glad you have found a great system that works for you!! I love it!
Patty what do you do with all your leftover (I have so much) dsp when they retire
What do you do with retiring colors? I can’t bear to get rid of them.
Patty I'm new to watch on RUclips. Would you please tell me what time your catalogue tab demo will be to watch?
I have been to the Stamp N Storage in Hutchinson, fabulous.
Oh that would be such a fun visit!!
Replay!! Ctmh Maker/new SU Demo. 😊
Welcome!!
I don’t group any of my supplies by color family. I have my stuff organized by rainbow order, my card colors in files are alphabetical though.
Just wondering, I see that rainbow order starts with r for red, yet you have the reds in the second row. Before I rearrange everything I was wondering why the first row to the left is blues? In my mind the first row to the left should be reds?
the video is mirrored.. that is what happens with a live.. you can refer to the photos in the blog post linked above for the order: pattystamps.com/2024/04/stampin-up-rainbow-order-for-cardstock-and-ink.html
Oooo ok. Makes more sense now I see your comment here that it's mirrored and does in fact start with red. I was confused!!
So, what is the reason for the color families?
Usually people gravitate toward bright colors, or subtle colors or fall colors so it makes it easy to get a collection of colors in the tones you like.
Is SU taking on any of the CTMH colors?
I have not heard.. so I don't know.
I do not understand what dots you use on top of your reinkers. Please help
here you go.. I posted this tip again last week: pattystamps.com/2024/04/more-tips-for-organizing-stampin-up-in-colors.html
What product do you have for your paper storage?
