I knew a psychologist who worked with offenders. I asked him about if there was any way to spot the worst sexual offenders before they offended. He told me it's very difficult, but that the best predictor we have is a history of casual disregard for the law and for boundaries generally. I would suggest there's a pretty good chance that the kind of male convict willing to ask to be housed in the female estate is, for that very reason, the kind of man who most needs to kept away from vulnerable women.
Very interesting you say that. Andrew burns was a local nightmare up in Scotland. He had zero boundaries. He would blow up phone boxes and bins with fireworks sometimes with people in it. He would ride his bike off bridges into the river. Always climbing buildings and then launching fireworks at people below. Setting fires everywhere and he hated hated the police. This was when he was a young teenager ten years ago. Lord knows what he has progressed onto since then.
Surely the key thing in this debate is the preference and rights of biological females as it's they who are potentially having their private spaces occupied. My guess (but it’s a guess based on extensive experience) would be that the vast majority of women (ie with cervix) wouldn’t want biological men in their private spaces, regardless of whether these men self-identify as “women”, and even if they have fully transitioned through physical/chemical castration. Put it this way: if I were a young mum taking her pre-teen child to the public swimming pool, would I want biological men (regardless of their trans status) sharing the changing rooms with me? Answer: no. This does *not* mean I’m “anti-trans”; it means I am pro-protecting safe spaces for biological women. I don’t care how you self-identify, just as long as your chosen identity doesn’t adversely affect *my* life. The analogy would be with organised religion: I’m agnostic. Believe in and worship what you want, but when this unfavourably impinges on *my* life, that’s when my hackles are raised. Religion should be a private matter and not pervade the public sphere and potentially adversely affect the lives of others. With trans people, they can do what they want within the law, express themselves how they want, call themselves what they want (and I will honour this), but if the majority of biological females don’t want them actually physically invading their private spaces, this wish should be honoured in practice.
The great thing about this is that overnight, Scotland has gone from 'trans central' to being one of the only Western countries where the issue of trans women in prison is being reassessed. It completely blows Sturgeon's insane bill out of the water and probably takes her career with it.

If we make men’s prisons (actually all prisons, but men’s specifically in this context) safe, it will eliminate half the motivation for falsely claiming to be trans in order to be safe, and the other half looking for a soft time and female bodies to abuse. Secondly, in these men’s prisons we need to create trans spaces. They are men, it’s a male problem. You don’t use selective compassion by putting other people at risk. Finally, it’s mad to think anyone can literally change sex anyway. They simply aren’t women. I find it hard to believe anyone could consider placing any man in a women's prison simply because they use a different word to describe themselves. But as Kate said this has been structured slowly behind the scenes, for decades, with enough people committed to the ideology being placed in various positions. In Ireland the strategy was to add it to a more poplar policy to get it through without anyone noticing it and it worked. And then along came Barbie Khardashian...it's like reading a horror story.

You know, what I really find unforgivable is the level of complacent and incompetent thinking going on in Scotland. When I was at university at both St Andrews and Edinburgh I was acutely aware that I was responsible for challenging any lazinesses and incompetences in the way I thought and in the way I understood things. I was acutely aware that there was more than a modicum of shame associated with any kind of stupidity or incompetence in my understanding. If you were not up to scratch on things the responsibility fell on you to do something about it. I sometimes wonder if anyone cares about anything like that now in Scotland. Very volatile MAN he was charged with an offence whilst in prison & the court system decided he was too dangerous to be transported from prison to court and so the charges were dropped in the knowledge he was guilty. Why can’t we have a separate prison wing for trans and separate categories in competitions? If a trans man or trans woman doesn’t want to use the toilets of their birth sex they could use the disabled toilets which are gender neutral. There are easy readily available answers to these issues. I feel for people who are genuinely experiencing problems accepting their birth gender and would be happy to help to accommodate them, but this whole issue has been hijacked and what we are seeing is a determined push by non conformists to dictate radical changes in society that will lead to a breakdown of society as we know it.

The Gender reform bill was not debated enough and was rushed through to voting. Just like the contract for the two ferries. Agreed, without risk assessment and the timing designed so that Sturgeon could take the credit. But they should have been looking at the ferry designs and not the design of her popularity stunt. The propulsion units were designed to mainly use Lpg. This was to reduce costs. The infrastructure to provide the Lpg is not there. This is one of the reasons why there is talk of scrapping the ferries. It's clear that the whole UK prison system needs investigating. The situation has got out of hand in Scotland because the SNP politicians would not listen to valid concerns. like many other issues, they made it political. They have a problem now because the public is beginning to see through the bluster, the deflection and the lies.
The law should be no prisoner has the right to "transition" in prison. Done! Convicted prisoners do not have this right. This is insanity! I did some training with the Probation Service & the biggest predictor of criminality (though obviously not determinative) is to be male.

If we make men’s prisons (actually all prisons, but men’s specifically in this context) safe, it will eliminate half the motivation for falsely claiming to be trans in order to be safe, and the other half looking for a soft time and female bodies to abuse. Secondly, in these men’s prisons we need to create trans spaces. They are men, it’s a male problem. You don’t use selective compassion by putting other people at risk.
Finally, it’s mad to think anyone can literally change sex anyway. They simply aren’t women. These people who have gender dysphoria should be allowed to live lives as if they are the opposite sex, but it’s delusional to tell them they literally are! They need their own safe spaces because letting a true trans person in means letting in the predators lined up behind them.

I find it hard to believe anyone could consider placing any man in a women's prison simply because they use a different word to describe themselves. But as Kate said this has been structured slowly behind the scenes, for decades, with enough people committed to the ideology being placed in various positions. In Ireland the strategy was to add it to a more poplar policy to get it through without anyone noticing it and it worked. And then along came Barbie Khardashian...it's like reading a horror story.

You know, what I really find unforgivable is the level of complacent and incompetent thinking going on in Scotland. When I was at university at both St Andrews and Edinburgh I was acutely aware that I was responsible for challenging any lazinesses and incompetences in the way I thought and in the way I understood things. I was acutely aware that there was more than a modicum of shame associated with any kind of stupidity or incompetence in my understanding. If you were not up to scratch on things the responsibility fell on you to do something about it. I sometimes wonder if anyone cares about anything like that now in Scotland. There seems to be a complete lack of ability, and indeed will to think independently in Scotland. The amount of banal, received, conceptual tropes coming out of the mouths of Scotland's so called intellectual elite is alarming.

What about men convicted of non-violent crimes? Jo Phoenix, a Professor of Criminology, believes that men crimes differ from women's crime which is another reason not to house the two together.
Men commit more violent crimes, women commit more non payment of fines type crimes.

Very volatile MAN he was charged with an offence whilst in prison & the court system decided he was too dangerous to be transported from prison to court and so the charges were dropped in the knowledge he was guilty. He would bite the veins on his arms and aim the blood at people as it squirted out...let that sink in for a moment.
Good work Sturgeon if you took any real time to analyse this particular case you'd know that in fhe prison system he is rated amoungst the most dangerous & is one if I think around 50 or so prisoners serving an OLR sentence....explain please?

Why do people have a right to transition in prison? We take most other rights from them.
Why can’t we have a separate prison wing for trans and separate categories in competitions? If a trans man or trans woman doesn’t want to use the toilets of their birth sex they could use the disabled toilets which are gender neutral. There are easy readily available answers to these issues. I feel for people who are genuinely experiencing problems accepting their birth gender and would be happy to help to accommodate them, but this whole issue has been hijacked and what we are seeing is a determined push by non conformists to dictate radical changes in society that will lead to a breakdown of society as we know it.

I applaud you Kate Coleman. i hope common sense prevails and you are contracted to first hold an investigation, then publish the findings and implement the recommendations. From this day, someone born as a male should never have access to a female prison. A wonderful speaker with a handle on the whole subject. I now have a better understanding of how this problem has occurred, and I am saddened by the clear incompetence of the Scottish Parliament. The Gender reform bill was not debated enough and was rushed through to voting. Just like the contract for the two ferries. Agreed, without risk assessment and the timing designed so that Sturgeon could take the credit. But they should have been looking at the ferry designs and not the design of her popularity stunt. The propulsion units were designed to mainly use Lpg. This was to reduce costs. The infrastructure to provide the Lpg is not there. This is one of the reasons why there is talk of scrapping the ferries.
It's clear that the whole UK prison system needs investigating. The situation has got out of hand in Scotland because the SNP politicians would not listen to valid concerns. like many other issues, they made it political. They have a problem now because the public is beginning to see through the bluster, the deflection and the lies.
The type of crime should be considered a guy who has raped women should never be put in a women's prison.
The law should be no prisoner has the right to "transition" in prison. Done! Convicted prisoners do not have this right. This is insanity!
