This video came right on time, because I was thinking about similar things yesterday as I was washing my hair, I’m in my 30s and I realized that since I’m getting older I need to keep my routine simple as much as possible, so when I do become an elder I won’t have a hard time maintaining my hair. I just wash, condition, band it up, and put it away under my hijab ive been doing this repetitively and knowing when to trim my hair and keeping up with trims became difficult to keep track, so I will trim once a year for now on. I also use old products like queen Helene cholesterol and sulfur 8 shampoo as a pre poo and it’s serving me not only simplicity for wash day but it made my hair healthy. I’m glad you mentioned this!🤙🏽

You said it all, literally I’m doing the same thing with my hair and I’m not being as strict. I know it needs moisture and a good cut here and there but we are no longer doing the most.

As for myself, I stopped only doing wash and gos as well. I love the style and it’s very simple but I want to do other styles (only using my real hair not fake hair).

I’m old 58 and I went natural over three years ago. At first I was doing all those 4 hour routines I saw influencers doing with no good results. I learned my hair and only use things that are good for my hair. Through that journey I also learned butters and creams are not good for my hair. They just dried my hair out and made it hard. I created a 2 hour wash day routine that focuses on moisture and hydration and keeps me off my feet for hours.

It sounds like we are on similar pages. I started shampooing every few weeks with Neutrogena T-Gel because my scalp was always irritated from all the moisture. My hair is so low porosity that it takes days to dry without all the stylers, so once you add in the gels and pomades and creams, I was really setting up my scalp to fester opposed to thrive. Now I avoid air drying when I have stylers on my hair, I am much lighter with the products (have almost abandoned gel altogether), and am attempting about once every three weeks to learn to round brush my hair because I think that would be a really neat tool in my versatility kit.
As far as your hair color you have a lovely neutral golden undertone so I think it will be interesting to see how different colors change your overall warmth or coolness. I personally love any hair color with a cool or neutral undertone on me because it makes my skin pop. Wishing you all the best. 🥰

Great video! I agree with the sulfates. About a year ago I thought my hair was severely damaged there was nothing that I could do that could bring moisture back into it. I went to the salon thinking that I was going to have to cut it all off and the hairdresser looked at me and said no you just have extreme build up and she used a clarifying shampoo in my hair came back to life. Now I use a clarifying shampoo with sulphates every other week and my hair has been thriving.

I’ve been one to put a lot of heat on my hair only because it got damaged, so when it’s time to trim my hair then I’ll blow it out, I color my every 2 months as I’m covering those pearly lites (gray hair) lol! I do use a clarifying shampoo twice a month to get the build up off!

I'm also going to be heat-styling more for the same reasons and then some. I don't even know how to flat iron my own hair, so this is both an effort to have more fun with my hair as well as learn how to do it. I love the look of roller sets and things and it's just not the same when done on textured hair (not to suggest I was capable of doing them with my curly hair!). I want to dye my hair ginger too, but I'm too chicken. Maybe one day!

I'm not really doing anything different. My routine has been simple, and I plan to keep it that way. I wouldn't call it changing things up, but a few months back I decided to let my hair grow as long as it wants to. I've been cutting it back to hip length for years so I'm letting it grow but still trimming when the ends need it.

People are getting back to using good ol grease like blue magic. But they’re using it the right way by placing it on moisturized hair and braiding or twisting it in a protective style.

DON'T CUT YOUR HAIR. I love to see Men who have hair because there this so call myth ( stereotype ) that only women should have hair, but of course as we all know men can have hair too
