I don't understand how there could be a single "Dislike" for this. It is so nicely transcribed and so beautifully played. It is one of the finest performances of this gorgeous work on classical guitar I have ever heard. Classical music is certainly always subject to artistic taste and interpretation, but to dislike this? Come on. Perhaps the Dislikes were posted by those who wish they could play this well and know they never will - jealousy is ugly and has no place here. I know I will never play that well but my response it admiration and gratitude for just being able to listen to this, not jealousy.

I have always argued that this piece should only be played on a large pipe organ in an even larger building, both preferably over 100 years old..... You, sir, have caused me to reconsider that opinion. This was an absolutely masterful performance of one of my favorite pieces, and I thank you for it.
And it is such a pleasure to watch you perform this piece.... It is obvious that you truly love the music, the passion with which you play it, the way you play the piece not only with your hands, but with your heart.
As you I also was argueing about the execution only with large pipe organ and as you I have reviewed my position after listining this very high level performance. I have just downloaded the sheet. I have also appreciated the transcription. I shall try to transpose, if technically possible in D minor.
me too ... it´s a matter of always finding the right player with the right capacity ... Segovia is so important because he showed : yes it´s possible ... when time comes someone will say it´s mine I can play it on my instrument no matter what it is

What have I just seen? I’ll tell you; perfection, that’s what. This performance is sublime in every detail. I am astonished at both the players technical skill and obvious musicianship but also at the staggering achievement of JS Bach. Bach’s music is surely one of the highest achievements in the whole of Western society. Yes I too play Classical guitar so I know the hours that have gone into this performance. Utterly astounding skill. Well done Sir.

(aliás, deve ter dado de onde ele estiver) Uma obra feita para um instrumento poderoso ganha uma transcrição impressionante para um instrumento dito intimista sem perder absolutamente nada em força de expressão. Em termos de técnica e performance não dá para imaginar nada que pudesse ser melhor.
Eu acho fantástico um violonista desse gabarito postar no RUclips um repertório dessa qualidade e ainda colocar suas transcrições à disposição do público... de graça. Isso demonstra bem a grandeza do Edson. Sinto-me honrado em poder estar vivendo ao mesmo tempo que ele.

Well the toccata sounds way better on the organ. The guitar just doesnt have the bass. But I prefer the fugue on the guitar
It is amazing what a human can do with an instrument. This is a perfect example of being an expert in the instrument. Beautifully done!

There is a reason why not many "guitar virtuosos" play this piece... Mr. Lopes succeeded in setting a beautiful and magnificently inspiring example with his interpretation, and I am convinced others will follow. I really, like in some other comments, believed this was not in the reach of the guitar. But again, proof that faith can accomplish anything.

Não dá pra classificar o melhor do Brasil, mas os melhores. Do campo erudito temos Edson Lopes, Fábio Zanon, Duo Assad, Duo Abreu, Duo Siqueira Lima, Mário Ulloa, Turíbio Santos, Fábio Lima... Já do popular, Marco Pereira, Ulisses Rocha, Yamandu Costa, Toninho Horta, Sebastião Tapajós, Raphael Rabello, João Bosco, Toquinho, entre outros. Então dizer "o melhor" é difícil, dentre tantos gênios.

I am downloading every single of your arrangements. I did have some, but they are amazing. Up till now I considered Roland Dyens an undisputed champion of arrangements, but this piece is a gift from God to all classical guitarists.

This piece (BWV 565) of music has always haunted and inspired me from a very young age. I did not know this could be arranged for guitar so masterfully.
