The reason people tell you how many bottles are in their cellars is both boasting of their disposable incomes shopping addiction) and their devotion to enjoying the art of wine. They are essentially saying “Good wine is this mush of a priority for me in terms of enjoying life,” something ang moved off beauty and the arts one can easily appreciate.

I've decided to listen to Jancis regarding Riesling, and as a life long Chardonnay lover I'm starting to agree with her.

06:25 "One chap asked me 'shouldn't they really be in Europe?'"
The real answer that she didn't give: "Yes, they should, but screw that because my career is in the US where I can make the big money".
We're not gonna get such honesty though, gotta keep those dollars rolling. Making her career on European wine but the loyalty is zero. Much like my respect for her, now.
