Seams the additional velocity of the 200 grainer is better then the 225. I like how you extrapolate the velocities of the shorter barrels to coincide with rifle velocities down range. Useful info
This has always been the advice I've heard of hunters and manufacturers of copper expanding ammunition. Pick a lighter weight for caliber projectile and push it faster in order to help get better expansion at distance. Penetration is generally not an issue with copper projectiles even thru bone.
Myself and a friend of mine have played around with enforcer powder in a few calibers and loads, and we've come to the conclusion that we don't really like it much. It tends to feel more snappy, without giving any extra velocity to justify that jolt to the hand. And it hasn't been the most accurate powder in anything we've put it in either.
Interesting test. The all-copper construction makes a 200 gr bullet similar in length as a 240 gr + lead core gr bullet. The expansion slows the penetration so much that I don't know that I would pick this bullet for deer hunting. I think those that carry a 44 cal revolver for 2 legged defense would be well served by this bullet at 1100 - 1200 fps. This would have a similar power level to a full power 10mm load with a 200 gr lead core bullet.
Do they also make a "Magnum Force" powder? Why did you go with Enforcer? Did the length of these bullets impact powder choice due to reduced powder capacity? I recently discovered your channel and I have no idea why your great work isn't generating more likes. Thanks you!
@@randyduncan795 Ramshot has “magnum” powder for rifles. Enforcer was listed on the Barnes load data for this bullet. I had better velocity than Lil-Gun or H-110. Looks like a great performer for the intended niche of self defense. IMO, not even close for an all around companion gun loading. Great work on the video, and bravo on your work ethic, Matt!
I'm curious as to why you think this isn't a good companion gun loading. Wound tracks and penetration seem to be right in line with what you tend to see from other 44 mag loadings. Good expansion, won't fragment or get stopped in its tracks if it hits bone. Seems to be an acceptable option.
no dought this would hurt on something two or four legged creatures. but a little concerned about it out of my tracker 4 in not passing through my deer expanding prematurely. think I'll get more coffee, get woke up good re-watch video and another wonderful video it is.papa thanking you 😊
That 20inch rifle, having a closed breach/no cylinder gap, should be able to squeeze more than 80fps more than the 9 inch revolver. It is a good load for the handguns. You're right about the bullet$ price, which makes load development more co$tly. I would certainly look at a separate load just for the rifle, might require a different powder, to get that velocity up to 30/30 speeds, say 2000fps, and give it a bit more reach. That said, Buffalo Bore shows 1869 from an 18" Marlin with their$ selling at over $3/ctg. So hand rolling, even with the bullets being $1+ea. is not as bad a proposition at it might seem. Thanks for the info.👍👍I like that Cherry finish on your 92's wood, mine are brown. Did it come that way? I'm jealous of your Garmin. I have it on my wish list, but can't decide which wish to grant myself 1st.😏
@@williamgaines9784 Yes, thats the factory wood. I have a matching R92 in .357mag too. It’s hard to tell them apart. 😉. There should definitely be a better powder for rifle loads. Enforcer had the highest listed velocity on the Barnes sight but it doesn’t seem well suited to the longer barrel. I get frustrated with it in the middle velocities when the velocity range needs to change, but the Garmin is very nice. If nothing else just the ease of set-up and tear-down is worth it. 👍🏻
@kentuckyrangetime I bought three Stainless 92s at the same time a 20" 44, 20" 357, and 16" 357 fro the wife. They have similar brown stocks, apparently oil finished. They shoot very well. I put Scout scopes on mine with the aid of rails from Noe.
@@kentuckyrangetime Enforcer (and its twin, Accurate 4100) are a bit slower burning than Accurate No. 9 and a bit faster than W296/H110/Accurate 11FS. It's very close to Alliant 2400, which is what I've historically used for this burn rate. Like 2400 it typically ignites just fine with a standard primer. And like 2400, it's on the fast end carbine barrel lengths. Typically H110 will do a bit more velocity out of a rifle, and going a step slower to Alliant Power Pro 300MP does better yet. I've never tried Lil Gun. With 2400 becoming impossible to source I've obtained some Accurate 4100 but have not tried it yet. It and Enforcer are produced by PB Clermont in Belgium and are the same powder. I've also gone to the Garmin. I like the fact that I don't have to put it downrange, which is worlds better when shooting at ranges with multiple lanes. I never took optical chronos to such as I didn't want to inconvenience other shooters with trips past the firing line. And of course it's much harder to shoot the Garmin 😉

Effective bullets for game if you have to use them. Good video showing how well they can perform.

H110 is the best 44 mag powder
