This is fantastic. Thank you for making BespokeSynth open-source, so audio freedom freaks like myself can use it and share it with the world! I'll be streaming some BespokeSynth experiments this evening :)
This is really clever! I've always had a hard time entering the audio space because timeline interfaces always imply some sort of expectation of a linear piece of audio with a begining and end. This feels like a playground. Awesome work!
I think what's incredible about this is how you can modulate absolutely anything. You can modulate stuff in the settings, too. I used an LFO to modulate the background colors in order for a more animated background.
I found myself saying, "oh, that's smart!"..."What a great idea"..."that's a way easier way of doing things than blah blah blah..." Very cool, Ryan. Thanks for sharing this!
Amazing work Ryan. This is an awesome addition to audio FOSS universe! The fact you spent your valuable time on this and then released it for free is something to be praised.
This looks great! Reminds me of a mashup of Hollyhock, Sunvox, Audulus and Bidule, but with its own personality. I love that touch/autopatch feature. Look forward to trying it out. Thanks.
fuuckkkkk i love you so much this is what i've been dreaming about... i've always wanted something where i can experiment with sounds like this; thank you so so much!! i love everythiing about this program, the ui, the little waves going through the cables the xy animation in the bg, the modules, the extensibility... my god ur a legend!
YT Algorithms mainly suggest videos with sh!tloads of views and ads - that's their profit - but they _are_ "aware" of engagement as well : likes , dislikes , comments - so let's all chat [ no matter what about ] on this video and make it BIG :o)
I have not thought of that, but that'd be very interesting. What use cases can you see for that (aside from a VR BespokeSynth interface made in Godot). Maybe it could be done with GDNative? Or OSC?
Need to add a panner to your microphone output for this video. :D Looking at your other video titles while watching this one, I hope you can connect MIDI controller inputs to node values.
This is one of the coolesst pieces of software I've ever seen (and open source too!!)... Can you export the synth created as a vst or something, so you can reuse the awesome sound in another project?
I admit I'm lost. Is this a synth that you can actually play, not only produce non-harmonic beeps, or a beefed up generator of sounds effects to insert judiciously e.g. into a video soundtrack? If the former, can it be used as a VSTn plugin, or only standalone? Can it be MIDI-controlled, or needs an ADC 0-1V hardware to control? For the life of me, I couldn't figure out from the documentation _what_ it is, not _how_ to use it... I'd appreciate any help!
Any way to search for modules normaly? with just typing in names not holding keys?? Incredible software. Maybe there it a way to remap keys or something.
I was needing a break from ableton live so i tried this and really really loved it, the only thing i miss is that i can't do cmd/ctrl + z in order to undo an action, for example if i delete a module and then i change my mind and i wanna put the module back, how do i (un)do this ? please help me, best regards and happy patching for everybody using this.
So you can rightclick any slider to add an LFO , even on the sliders of the LFO you just created . . . And the Write Audio - oh my Gawds , that's when i fell off my chair - spans multiple session if necessary . . . 🎼💖💖💖🎵
Answered my own question. The way to do it is to set the device type to ASIO, then select Expert Sleepers USB Audio for the output device. For CV outputs connect purple control signal to these modules: "dc offset" > "output" or "dc offset" > "gain" > "output". For audio input from ES9 just use the "input" module with the correct channel(s) selected. But for CV input, use "input" > "audio to cv". It would be awesome if these were consolidated for this use case, but I'll just use the "prefab" function for now.
A great piece of software.Only trouble I'm having is the VSTs I have on my PC are not showing up.I believe they are in the correct directory.Anyone have some tips/advice on this please?
Just figured out the default path needed a forward slash inserted after VST2 ie- path should be C:/Program Files/Common Files/VST2/ rather than C:/Program Files/Common Files/VST2 .Seems unusual to me but I'm no coder.
I'm not sure if I'm a complete idiot or not (OK, I kinda know the answer to that one), but I don't see anything whenever I hit "Write Audio". I didn't know where the original recordings folder was, so I made one and directed the output path to it, but whenever I hit "write audio", it doesn't save anything.
i want this ! lol, tried build on mint 20.3, failed. alsa package missing in mint repo. aaaargh, aum mad ! lol, thx for sharing, have fun, aum, s love nia
So I thought I would give this a go... Yeah, no. Right off the bat after installing I selected my audio interface, I saved and closed. Reopened to the settings page and was stuck in limbo. Can't click on anything, just stuck. All I can do is open and close. I figured out what I did wrong, which was not changing the preset interface buffer size, default is 0, which is blatantly stupid. No interface has 0 as a buffer setting, most systems kick back ugly noise at 32. I would imagine a proper default would be 512, which like 99% of other audio software comes preset as. Still, my fault, I didn't check. But now, it's stuck, I've uninstalled it, reinstalled and it just opens to the same settings page with no way to navigate. Clicking any of the boxes does nothing. EDIT: Ok, so this just led me thru a rabbit hole. A fewr issues: Apparently I cannot select ASIO audio (MOTU M4), it will only allow me to use windows audio @144ms buffer size. If I choose ASIO, I only get a 64 ms buffer size option (or 0 as the default) and then it's lock-up city no matter what. I restart and I can't do anything. Erasing the Userprefs files allows me to reset settings. Also, a red flag is uninstalling LEAVES the Bespoke files in User/documents (Windows) directory, maybe a few Mbs, but still useless clutter that should be deleted when u uninstall Bespoke. I'm not here to shit on Bespoke, it seems pretty awesome, but I had some frustrating issues and I still can't play with the software.
OK. Nice creative GUI. But what does this DO that is so different from the hundreds of other synths out there??? Didn’t hear any radically new sounds come out of this system. Kind of like saying a Model A Ford with an iPad interface is a revolution.
I certainly never called it a revolution, and I don't view it as such! innovation happens iteratively, and this is my contribution to the conversation.
This is fantastic. Thank you for making BespokeSynth open-source, so audio freedom freaks like myself can use it and share it with the world!

I just came here because of your video!
@@SynthApprentice I am glad I brought you here then :D

Amazing work. Apart from being a great modular sound system, there are real UI gems here. Very intuitive.
This is an absolutely genius UI and sound design megalith!
You did what I should have done 30 years ago. Congratulations and thank you!
PC Hardware wasn't ready for it back then though , it would take hours to generate a few minutes of sound [ sobs quietly ]
I think what's incredible about this is how you can modulate absolutely anything. You can modulate stuff in the settings, too. I used an LFO to modulate the background colors in order for a more animated background.
Haha, I didn't realize until now that the settings dialog was just another module. You can even modulate which settings tab is currently showing.
@@Sparkette for a more random UI experience. “Which parameter will I be tweaking next?”

Very cool, Ryan. Thanks for sharing this!
This software is stellar in terms of UX and features. Thank you so much for making it FOSS!
"Stellar" is an understatement !!! Three days into my explorations and i just fell off my chair - Holy Moly !
This is incredible! Reminds me of sunvox, but with a much nicer UI and more flexibility in terms of workflow. I’ll definitely play around with this!
Amazing work Ryan. This is an awesome addition to audio FOSS universe! The fact you spent your valuable time on this and then released it for free is something to be praised.
Holy mackerel. I have no idea how to make music but I feel like this tool is a sandbox for learning, but which I am unlikely to outgrow anytime soon!
Having spent time with Pd, SuperCollider and VCV, this seems like a good middle-ground environment with standout UX. Keen to explore!
Great introduction. 👍🏻 Thank you for it.
Buit there's one remark: "Quick save" isn't +. In the meantime it has apperently changed to + .
ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT SOFTWARE MATE! BRAVO and THANK YOU!
Absolutely stunning! Thank you so much for sharing this with everyone!

I only hope that tomorrow when i wake up , this wasn't all a Dream - what you are Sharing here is beyond mere words
Reaktor user since v3. This is brilliant stuff, well done.
This shit is so great!! Never had a digital modular enviroment that is so intuitive before
I love this. Really intuitive. It has a nice workflow.
Brilliant software, and thank you for the very clear walkthrough.
Thanks for the video !
This is amazing!
How can it be that I have been watching a tonload of VCV Rack videos and yet this has never been suggested to me by the YT algorithm?
I think eventually it will be recommend to VCV Rack users as more of them switch to bespoke or use both

I'm so excited to play around with this! Thanks for making a mac version too!
I like that you beat Reason to VST3 support.
Congratulations, this is súper beautiful. I love it
Hey, thank you for this awesome Synth it's awesome can't wait to use it to make awesome sounds
this thing is almost unimaginable in terms of functionality as it is, top that with the fact its free and open source....wowowowowowowowow
This is absolute Gold.
A Superb piece of Software Modular ' Big Thanks Ryan for a Great Gift of Modular Madness :)
Muchas gracias Ryan! mucho amor desde Colombia!
Nice intro video, I'll try this, sounds quite promising, keep up the good work :)
thanks a lot!! i ve been needing to connect back with music for a while. Maybe this is the tool
Excellent fun, much thanks... enjoy a few coffees
Dude, that is an amazing work! congratulations!
I'd love to have bespoke as an embeddable, for use in Godot game engine for instance.
I have not thought of that, but that'd be very interesting. What use cases can you see for that (aside from a VR BespokeSynth interface made in Godot). Maybe it could be done with GDNative? Or OSC?
Could this be to Godot as MetaSounds is to Unreal Engine?
Amazing tutorial! Thank you very much!
This looks amazing, can't wait to try it.
Great! 🤖🎧💹 we’ll be speaking about it with others
Chuck Norris doesn't learn music, he builds a modular DAW to learn it for him.
There is a resemblance…
@@VJFranzK is that the guy who appeared in Dave Letterman ? Ryan reminds me of him but i forgot his name , more like Elliot or something similar
Can you load this into a host like Bitwig or Reaper and use it as a modular synth? Something like MUX modular from Mutools?
Bruuuuuhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!! 😭🙌🙏 This is so incredible! Great job!!
Hey, amazing work! What does diagonal white line on transport mean?
11:15 i thought I was the only one who felt that with a record button in DAWs hahahah
Thanks for this; I tried it but was completely lost.
excellent! yeah, without a primer it can definitely be hard to get started

Crazy thing! Beardyman got me here :)
Where can I ask for a questions about this tool? I'm interested implementing it in my live looping rig, but not sure where to start?

hello Ryan can you help me out why bespoke synth doesn't work on my high Sierra? when I open it its all black screen with no instruments etc
Ryan, is it possible to run control signals and/or audio through a hardware interface like the Expert Sleepers ES9?
Answered my own question. The way to do it is to set the device type to ASIO, then select Expert Sleepers USB Audio for the output device. i just found out 3 minutes ago..
im looking forward to use it later on.
does it run as vst too?
Hopefully all that busy animation can be turned off in the settings, yes? Too harsh for my senses.
Otherwise looks worth checking out!
Wooooow this is super duper cool
Great! Thanks.
its a older version here but...you can not type C4 in the frequency, right?...would be nice
i always wished for a "touch designer but for audio" this looks like it
Great tutorial. I'm trying to patch a vocoder but have been unsuccessful so far. What's the trick?
make sure to patch in a "vocodercarrier" module as well and connect it to the vocoder
Can I disable the background scope animation?

Is there a way to append an existing state with another one?
how do i get notesequence to start sending signals ?
