My mom also discourages placing many pairs of shoes by the door as she says it brings in bad luck- supposedly shoes are worn outside so apparently superstition goes that negative vibes can tag itself onto your shoes and when you leave them by the door instead of putting them back into the storeroom I'm releasing the bad luck into the house.. And while I'm lucky enough to not have a parent who scrutinizes my grades I know most Southeast Asian parents to hold good grades in high regard! Keep up all the good work! On grades: In Russia, cheating is not only common it is socially expected. You are expected to cheat. In the US, students wish each other luck. In Japan, they wish each other diligence. In Russia, they wish each other success. In Russia, as long as you win/get best grade, it doesn't matter how you did it.
Wow you are spot on when you talk about Russian sandwiches. I lived there for 7 months and it is the only place I have ever had sandwiches with only one piece of bread! No butter or margarine either. (AKA ka-ka) :●{ My response: how repuslive, disgusting, vulgar; I'll never make that sign! Mother, with much satisfaction, smiled! I believed that explanation untill high school... Thanks Mom. Auuugh!

The children in Russia, Academician isn't just get the tea, but also something else! Well, if anything, in Russia, Academician as you told me about the children taken care of and excited about them, I don't have that kind of stupid and parents like you showed it!
