Train dork fact here: The New Hope and Ivyland is actually connected directly to SEPTA's Regional Rail network. The section where the tourist train normally runs is the furthest extent of the Reading Railroad's New Hope branch (naturally), which SEPTA uses today as the Warminster line. The segment past Warminster was sold to the New Hope and Ivyland in the 60s, around the same time that the Reading extended the electrification of the route to Warminster where it ends today. Since SEPTA runs an all electric fleet (the largest commuter rail network in the US to do so by far), they don’t go out to New Hope. New Hope and Ivyland does occasionally run excusions on SEPTA's system, pretty often with their steam engine #40, which is pretty cool.
@ThePhillyCaptain any time Cap! I'm actually releasing a video tomorrow on my channel starting a series talking about trains and transit in Philly. Doing my first on the Regional Rail system
Captain, to get to graffiti railroad car on canal in Lambertville, NJ that you saw, go across bridge you were on, hang a left as soon as you cross river,Lambert Lane, and keep going straight thru various parking lots till they end and you see a trail thru the woods. Follow that about 300 yards and you will see the train car. If you keep going, the canal trail will take you to Stockton.(about 3 miles)
havent had those in years i just bought Sweetzels not good must be the Ivins im looking for at Acme. I enjoyed this video very funny and informative love your personality and openness. i use to go to New Hope remember Toxic Waste Dump, Spinsters and Now and Then. and Cartwheel and The Raven LOL
I loved this video. My brother lived in Doylestown, PA and we visited New Hope. It was pleasant walking around this area. I especially liked that you did this video during the fall. I miss living in the northeast.
My grandfather grew up in New Hope on Mechanic St. I also found out I had family in Lambertville and New Hope. All gone before I was born in 1970. I used Find A Grave. Great site. Thanks for the scoot.
@@samanthab1923 I have only been to New Hope once. Of course that was in the late 80’s -early 90’s. I wasn’t as interested in knowing about my history as I am now. But it does seem like a beautiful place.
@@Christy903 Sounds like me & Scranton. Know my father & his parents were born there but they moved to the Bronx when he was a baby so I don’t know what any of my family did out there. It’s all very interesting as we get older. 👋
My dad used to buy those spiced wafers every year. Every time I come back to visit, I get them or sometimes convince someone to send me some. I miss those so much! We don’t get them in Orlando…😢 I’m a big train dork too
Speaking of mules...most people today don't know that a "mule" is also a woman's lounging slipper/shoe. I'm always taken back to an Abbot and Costello movie when I hear the word. ruclips.net/video/uw_rSkeVlHE/видео.htmlfeature=shared&t=80
I'm sailing with the Captain this morning while sitting on my sofa drinking a hot coffinated (combo of Woo, GIV & Halloween) beverage. Gorgeous homes and beautiful scenery Captain. Your videos allow me to see things I'll never see in person. Thank you!! PS No Sweetzel cookies in CA.
Yes captain back in the day they used to have mule rides where the mules would pull a small boat down the canal carrying tourists, I was a small child when I went and it was the longest most boring trip I ever had I wanted to jump off the boat and swim back. But I was too young and couldn't swim lol
Thank You Baseball Dork! Go Sports! FYI this City is Beautiful and could be a channel in its own. This is the content i love because I've never seen or known about Philadelphia history besides the BS we were taught.
Captain, I was born in Philadelphia, raised in South Jersey. And know live in VA. No I haven't seen those spice cookies since living in the Delaware Valley.

Yup I’m not fond of Halloween either. 😢😢😢 (I’m not overly enthusiastic about any holiday to be honest. 🎉 ) never understood the fascination to be scared or dress up like a dead person, yikes. 😱 The scoot was cool but the bridge over the falls, yowza 😮😮😮

Yes that is a tow path. The mules would pull the barges if goods along the canal. 🫏 😀
“look at the size of that…”
Arnold Palmer reference 😂

When we first moved out here in 94 the Mule Barges were still running. Starting in 2001 there were three floods 18 mos. apart that damaged the Canal.
Great job Capt

Awesome scoot! You were close to a bridge that would've taken you over to that graffiti railcar... maybe next time. Lambertville = Halloween dorkdom.
