You could totally use the cave to tell the dystopian half of the cyberpunk story. All those fancy buildings, they displace poorer people. Lots of cyberpunk story have them living underground, at the bottom of skyscrapers, etc. Would make sense for something like an abandonned train tunnel to have been re-occupied, full of makeshift houses and shacks and tiny mushroom farms etc.
This is acc a cool idea and everyone can kind of bring their own build styles in to connect under the mountain this was kind of their idea in the first place but turning it into a mixed style city would be cool
That would be awesome, but they should theme it with the cyberpunk vibes so make it like a Maglev or hover train. Alternatively, make it like the dark and grimy delivery tunnel that moves supplies into the city.
"I was too busy being mesmerized by my pecs" - also Impulse 2024 When Impulse said that, did anyone else imagine that scene in Journey to the Center of the Earth 2 where The Rock bounces stuff off his pecs?
@@CornOnThe_Cob True! Especially in series where they don't use creative it takes a while to get certain blocks. To get froglights of different colors you need 3 different frogs, (warm, cold and temperate climate), then you need 3 lassos, (one per frog), then you need at least 3 small magmacubes... (and even if they spawn only in the nether, sometimes I spend whole days looking for stuff in the nether and I don't see a single magma cube... but the frog lights are definitely not impossible to obtain later.
I'm loving the textured windows, it gives off a really cool effect! Joel is also doing a cool cyberish style so I can imagine your bases blending so well together later in the project
Totally agrees. It looks like there is actually going something on there in this apartments. I don't think you have to do it on the higher floors though. At least from the ground you wouldn't see it anyways. You could wait until you all got elytra and than check the upper windows out again.
You could turn the cave into a kind of poorer neighborhood, maybe with a bunch of small shacks densely packed around and on top of each other. Cyberpunk is a very dark genre (if you've seen the skylines of Blade-Runner, this is true in more ways than 1), so stuff like this could really add to the darkness and grittiness you so often see in these stories (not sure if stuff that dark can be on HC, but it would be cool). If I may recommend some inspiration, please check out Arcane, Edgerunners, Blade-Runner, and even (irl) India in some places. Cyberpunk is one of my favorite genres, and I can't wait to see what you come up with.
It certainly needs some sort of undercity. A lot of Cyperpunk worlds rely on the narrative of hyper-exploitation of the under classes and Capitalism taken to its extreme end point. Shanty towns overlooked by the corporate overlords in their gleaming skyscrapers would certainly help sell that feeling.
I agree! Cyberpunk is defined by its dense, detailed world with both the pitiful depths of humanity jusxtaposed with the morally ambiguous highs of technology

Dystopian vibes you can get with some wear and tear. Hole in the street, covered up and ignored. Some cracks and mossy overgrowth over the buildings. It doesn't always have to mean post-war, or grayscale, or poor and shabby. It can also be post-prime of the city, slowly deteriorating with inhabitants no longer bothering with doing proper repairs. You wouldn't have the shiniest, newest, white materials, it would be a bit more cluttered due to years of accumulating stuff etc. Love what you're doing! Coincidentally working on my own Cyberpunk city project, down in the Deep Dark. Inspired by the game Stray, which shows that dystopian cyberpunk vibe really well
The texture in the windows is great. It gives them a depth and almost reflection feel. Also, I am hoping the future city will have at least one alley or street with little cram packed shops and restaurants in a blade runner style. So excited to see what the city turns out like!
Suggested it on Grian's too, but Cherry Mountain Cavern sbould have a Hub platform with suspended bridges leading to everyones' base, with another leading to the Docks since everyone is fishing.
It depends on how Joel plans on doing the lower parts of his area. He is really good at blending areas together. If you go to some big city’s, kinda like NY’s China town they are usually smaller building areas to some degree. Also the way Impulse describes their city layout with smaller buildings near the hill and bigger in the distance, I think Joel’s build would blend right in the lower city level. We shall see I suppose.
The game Stray could be a great source of inspiration for the underground cave areas, with its sort of abandoned but still lived in vibe. In the game there’s the Slums, the Safe Zone, and Midtown which all give very different impressions, yet still meld together into the same underground city incredibly well.
i can only think that maybe it's a mod being buggy?? they have the hostiles interactive and much more lively through a mod though i'm not sure which, and i know the passive mobs in some of the hermits' videos blink and sway too. either way, the faceless sheep was HORRID and i'm surprised he didn't say anything LMAO

About your little cave hole. I was thinking of tangos “bus lines” in decked out. What if the hole looked like an access tunnel for your city infrastructure? So cables and pipes, and cyber stuff. They don’t have to just come strait out either. They could bend up and around back into the mountain. Think empires grumbot vibes. The wires/pipes can fill the hole from the outside with an access door, but not on the inside. They could be a facade. You could work the design into the walls of the cave instead so there’s an open space for your base.
I love how impulse constantly builds with blacks & yellows, but he always switches it up in a unique way. He’s literally the Batman of the Hermitcraft server!

I love the wool behind the windows, it makes it look like an office or usable building. This is going to look great with Joel neighboring with his Japanese cyberpunky futuristic design as well, like the older part of town up top that blends give way to the new construction, at some point you guys may think about blending it or opposite creating a dystopian style check point/ wall between the two
The tunnel you have behind your base, good be an entrance to a subway for your cyberpunk city. This would add a lot of life to your base. And it could even be used to connect to the other sides of the mountain to be actually useful.
It would be so interesting for the mountains hermits to turn the inside into a giant dense city. Each section could be seperated by rivers kinda like New York!
I honestly like the combination of the two different window types - having the pure-concrete ones up high where one can't clearly see in from below, and having the ones closer to the ground being a bit more of that 'dissipation' effect suggested.
Imp and Skizz shenanigans in HC make me very happy. Joel's death was so funny in his video as well I was very much looking forward to you and Skizz's videos!

You could make the cave into a “car”tunnel (could possibly connect it to the other hermits cracks haha) with all sorts of flashing lights and effects! Kind of like when you drive through a tunnel in a big city really fast, and the lights look real cool.
The texturing with the wool looks really good, Bdubs is right. It looks like when you see an office building from the ground floor and the flourescent lights on the ceiling are visible going back into the rooms.
Love the window texturing! Bdubs is a master of the art, and it's cool to see you adding the skill to your repertoire. It's fun to watch the Hermits teach each other and grow together as creators. 😊
Use the textured windows. When it comes to building, Bdubs is an absolute artist. Use this collab with him to absorb the absolute crap out of Bdubs' skills. That dude is like the Van Gogh of Minecraft when it comes to building. If he says to do something, don't ask us. Just trust him. Be like the Salaì to his Da Vinci. Or better yet, the Michelangelo to his Ghirlandaio.
everyone in hermitcraft: compacts their build and has small areas impulse: literally taking half the map and it's been a full episode and 3/4 and he hasn't built ANYTHING yet i love this server
The fact that you're working with simpleshapes for the buildings means you choose the perfect partner for the project because there's not a single builder I've ever seen that can make flat surfaces look like they have dept, the way Bdubs does it and it's 100% done with shading. I can't wait to see what the two of you can cook with this city, also the Texture ones look like reflections of light, which fits the theme perfectly, I would go with those for sure.
For the entrance into the cave, you should make it into a cyberpunk looking subway because it goes into it like a subway tunnel. I think it would look cool!
I'm so happy Skizz is on the server! I love watching you 2 interact in all the side series, now I get to enjoy that much more of yall in my favorite series.
Early season Impulse is always fun. He walks around and looks at other peoples' bases, and actually introduces the world to us. Late season Impulse loves to keep his head down and avoid looking at other people's bases to avoid spoiling anything. Which basically means he keeps to himself and only shows his little corner of the world late season.
Looking forward to the cyber punk build! I think the tunnel network being talked about inside the mountain should also be cyber punk theme. It would be so cool to have sorta a "seedy underground"
I'm loving this! The idea that the city will house adventures is AMAZING! I do like the previous commenters ideas about a hover train, how cool would that be! Loved seeing your shenanigans with Skizz, and Joel was such a good sport. such great fun being had already this season! Keep it up!
What if you left the River and didn’t cover it up? Like you could make a tunnel through buildings as needed but leave the River accessible to boats? It would be really cool to be able to see a bunch of bases by boat tour at the end of the season. Just a thought! Love the build!!!
bdubs is such a good teacher. I like the textured look. Also, for that cave, you could make an ode to Season 9, and make it into an entrance to a mineshaft, but with a modern twist.
Doc made a good point in his video with two ghast heads and a note block they make a good car alarm going off, so if you build a car you could integrate them into the build with the note block.
27:40 the texturing on the building makes it look like there's a whole office floor in there, like you can juuust barely not see the individual details. It looks amazing!
I like the idea of the mountain entrance being a metro station. Also loving the slow progression stance of just enjoying the moment you and a lot of the hermits are taking this season. It's been an absolute joy to watch you all. Also, I like the name Creed for your horse. No idea where I got it from, but it sounds nice. It'll be interesting to see what other names pop up for them.
I feel like gem and impulse complement each other a lot. For one, impulse like cyberpunk and Red-stone. For gem, she likes nature and also ways calls for impulse when she needs help. Love the duos and the trio of impulse, gem and pearl. ❤❤
Y’all are uploading so fast 😩. I have so many behind the scenes videos from iskall to watch as well as Scar’s first VOD. Not to mention the other first episodes that I’d like to watch
i like the texturing behind the windows, however it doesnt look like the light is dissipating, it looks more like reflective sheen on the windows. it also makes it look like theres something inside the windows and gives the building more life. so its a win either way
I would say you could put in a really cool cyberpunk railway with that hole in the mountain as a segway into your build... and you know, allowing you to stay a part of the "Magic Mountain" group lol. Also, the texturized windows give the build a feeling of it actually being occupied which is pretty cool :)
Today's Fact: The first website ever created, in 1991, was dedicated to information about the World Wide Web project and was hosted on a NeXT computer at CERN.
21:17 all you need is someone to do solarpunk nearby and it will be amazing. Solarpunk is a very underrated style, and you dont get to see it adapted into Minecraft nearly enough.
Don't forget that dystopia can be the false utopia. The society that seems perfect, but has a bunch of problem in it. An example would be a situation where no one needs to work, but it leads to unhealthy habits. The humans in the movie WALL-E live in a vibrant dystopian society.
A cyberpunk dystopia sounds really cool. I can’t help but imagine the “long term nuclear warnings” research. The idea is that we can’t garuntee people understand the dangers of radiation, so people try and create universal signs that show danger. It’s where that famous image of the thousands of black spikes sticking ominously out of the ground come from. Another suggested idea was a large slab of black concrete to render land uninhabitable, lightning like structures coming out of hills, and large blocks that are too narrow to live between with large spikes on the outside. There’s a few interpretations of what these would look like online, I just think they are neat in how structures convey forbidding and unnerving danger without words or symbols.
I'm excited for the cyber punk theme. I do think (and I know you're not done) that it's a bit clean for cyber punk. It's still so crazy that were in season 10. Thanks for all the positive content :)
Would be cool if one of the first buildings in the city is a train station of shorts for minecrarts. You could use it to conect to the other cherry mountaing peps, and make different lanes going to the PET friendly group (Pearl, Etho and Tango, plus Cub is there also if I'm not mistaken) other to "The Neighbourhood" as Cleo calls it, etc. It's kind of an old minecraft redstone, but could be cool if you add the custom sounds.
For the cave, if you want to lean into the dystopian aspect of Cyberpunk you could make it into a sort of escape tunnel with an abandoned camp of some sorts like the inhabitants either got caught or had to flee.
when that 20:37 came along I just lost it 😂😂 your comedic cuts are on point!!! love the cyberpunk build!! really excited to see the roads with the buildings too 😍 also can't wait to see your cyberpunk skin!!
Cyberpunk vibe is about shape and greebling. The style consists of futuristic buildings (ultra-modern styling, odd shapes and angles, high-contrast colors) and a lot of greebling details (ramshackle antennae, lights, and gadgets alongside massive, Times Square-esque billboards). Importantly, there are few boxy buildings, both to make cyberpunk landscapes look interesting and because they are inspired by architecture that tries to break away from standard boxy shapes. If you want to get IRL inspiration to make cyberpunk buildings look unique and detailed, most brutalist buildings work well for the style due to their design being entirely inspired by function with little regard to form, leading to sheer concrete buildings in a variety of shapes.
Can't wait till to see what else you do with the building. Like you said, it's a huge square building. Can't wait till it gets impluseified. Your builds always turn out amazing!
There should be a community project like this. Someone starts with a couple of shulkers worth of blocks, then the next one follows, but in a pretty way!
The tunnel into the mountain could be like one of those underground highway sections they have in cities sometimes. I can totally imagine Johnny Silverhand riding a motorcycle down the tunnel into the mountain
If you’re doing a dystopian vibe you could have your mountain base be like either an old, abandoned structure from whatever ‘previous’ civilisation was there or like a rebel base. It’d add some lore and it’d make sense as to why it has a back door into the city - for the abandoned building it could be the citizens adventuring and broke through the wall to go exploring and for the rebels, obviously they’d need a way in and out of their base. A combination could be cool too! And it might be a cool theme to tie in with your adventure thing. You could use it as lore for your adventures. Like more remnants of the old city and lore as to how it got where it is, or even lore regarding the rebels & the city’s corruption. Edit: it’d also be cool to have a bunch of armour stands too. You could do some interactions with the rebels and the police/government.
You could totally use the cave to tell the dystopian half of the cyberpunk story. All those fancy buildings, they displace poorer people. An undercity is certainly something a cyberpunk world needs!
Whats great is that the abandonned train tunnel can lead into Grian’s minecart system that he wanted to create with everyone
This is acc a cool idea and everyone can kind of bring their own build styles in to connect under the mountain
this was kind of their idea in the first place but turning it into a mixed style city would be cool
The poorer people could just be the others hermits 😂
The abandoned train tunnel could be similar to Scar’s and connect to Joel’s upper Minecraft system
Your mountain entrance could be a metro, since a railway connection through the Mountain is already planned
that could be super cool
That would be awesome, but they should theme it with the cyberpunk vibes so make it like a Maglev or hover train. Alternatively, make it like the dark and grimy delivery tunnel that moves supplies into the city.
Yeah! I was thinking it could be the entrance to the entrance to the subway station.
Was coming here to suggest making it a broken-off construction tube, but liking these ideas more 🤘🏼
I doubt they all would, but it would be cool to see a train-like intersection at each person's base that was themed with their base.
Bdubs knows his stuff! Definitely keep the texturing on the windows
Came here to say the same thing... I love the bdubz windows, they definitely give the illusion of life inside the building.
Yes, please do the texturing :)

I'm loving this! The idea that the city will house adventures is AMAZING! I do like the previous commenters ideas about a hover train, how cool would that be! Loved seeing your shenanigans with Skizz, and Joel was such a good sport. such great fun being had already this season! Keep it up!
Turn the cave into a bat cave kind of thing, because the cyberpunk city will need protection
Really like the texturing of the lower windows as it adds character to the build. The collaboration with BDubs is going to be fun to watch.
Damn, seeing cyberpunk, steampunk, and some sort of Asian style cyberpunk. Eatins good this season.
It’s Japanese dingus
What if you left the River and didn’t cover it up? Like you could make a tunnel through buildings as needed but leave the River accessible to boats? It would be really cool to be able to see a bunch of bases by boat tour at the end of the season. Just a thought! Love the build!!!
Of course it's yellow, love it!
bdubs is such a good teacher. I like the textured look. Also, for that cave, you could make an ode to Season 9, and make it into an entrance to a mineshaft, but with a modern twist.
I love the textured windows, I think it would pay off so much if you did it for the entire city!
Doc made a good point in his video with two ghast heads and a note block they make a good car alarm going off, so if you build a car you could integrate them into the build with the note block.
The chest shake broke me. I can't stop giggling 😂
27:40 the texturing on the building makes it look like there's a whole office floor in there, like you can juuust barely not see the individual details. It looks amazing!
I think you should look into Kowloon walled city, that kind of design for city will look very nice and unique
Love the textured lighting on the build
I feel like gem and impulse complement each other a lot. For one, impulse like cyberpunk and Red-stone. For gem, she likes nature and also ways calls for impulse when she needs help. Love the duos and the trio of impulse, gem and pearl. ❤❤
Y’all are uploading so fast 😩. I have so many behind the scenes videos from iskall to watch as well as Scar’s first VOD. Not to mention the other first episodes that I’d like to watch
Ikr the early game hermitcraft is the best i have been eating purely hermitcraft content for the past week were eating good
I think the texturized windows look better :) Great build, great video!
That kill was deliciously executed!
Love the texture on the windows
The flexing pecs is the greatest…like you, I probably laughed way too hard!! Lovin’ the new season, so far!😊
i like the texturing behind the windows,
however it doesnt look like the light is dissipating, it looks more like reflective sheen on the windows. it also makes it look like theres something inside the windows and gives the building more life. so its a win either way
The mountain entrance could be a back alley of a cyberpunk city. It would look very cool.
To go with the the cyberpunk theme, your mountain entrance could be some large blast door thing. Like a bunker entry.
Is it still running?
@@HettycTracynit actually is still running. You can find it easily with a Google search
@@HettycTracynyeah
I knew that already! :D
Valhalla MUD ftw. If you know you're old and still like games apparently.
I'm going to love watching the creation of this city, cyberpunk is so cool. Love it Grimpulse
21:17 all you need is someone to do solarpunk nearby and it will be amazing. Solarpunk is a very underrated style, and you dont get to see it adapted into Minecraft nearly enough.
The texturing adds depth and makes it look like there are actual rooms behind those windows
hitting that refresh button for new episodes! :D
Don't forget that dystopia can be the false utopia.
The society that seems perfect, but has a bunch of problem in it.
An example would be a situation where no one needs to work, but it leads to unhealthy habits.
The humans in the movie WALL-E live in a vibrant dystopian society.
impluse should watch ready player 1. I think their world is very steam punk.
xD
Well, it's definitely some kinda punk. I think more dystopian sci-fi or cyberpunk than steam, though.
Ready Player 1 is cyberpunk. It does seem like a fun movie. Another thing to watch is Arcane, and Blade-Runner
agreed. I looked it up after I said this.@@ksdragona_5583
Agreed. I looked it up after i said this and it is not steam punk. oops@@ksdragona_5583
There’s a few interpretations of what these would look like online, I just think they are neat in how structures convey forbidding and unnerving danger without words or symbols.
get your under 30 min pass here
I'll take that
I won’t take it
I'm excited for the cyber punk theme. I do think (and I know you're not done) that it's a bit clean for cyber punk. It's still so crazy that were in season 10. Thanks for all the positive content :)
The textured windows look amazing! It makes it look like there are lights on inside, and almost makes it look like there is a reflection.
Didn't realize how much I'd missed an Impulse time lapse till today, so glad to see you guys back at it!
For the cave, if you want to lean into the dystopian aspect of Cyberpunk you could make it into a sort of escape tunnel with an abandoned camp of some sorts like the inhabitants either got caught or had to flee.
when that 20:37 came along I just lost it 😂😂 your comedic cuts are on point!!!
love the cyberpunk build!! really excited to see the roads with the buildings too 😍
also can't wait to see your cyberpunk skin!!
The wool makes it look like there are other lights on in the building. Kind of like an office.
"get down there or the xp gets stuck", that was quick thinking Impulse!
Can't wait till to see what else you do with the building. Like you said, it's a huge square building. Can't wait till it gets impluseified. Your builds always turn out amazing!
The little cave could be an homage to your dwarven self
There should be a community project like this. Someone starts with a couple of shulkers worth of blocks, then the next one follows, but in a pretty way!
The cave mouth I think would look great as a giant cyber punk animal skull made from Iron, copper and other materials
For your cave in the mountain, you can maybe make it look like a subway/train tunnel so it’s kind of like a subway/train tunnel connecting to the city
